The gal who greeted us as we looked over the extensive menu of pizza choices said she could give us a takeout menu so we could sit down while we were deciding. My friend was in the mood for pizza so she ordered an individual one with five toppings for $11. We were told that the man making the pizzas was the owner. He consulted with my friend to find out what ingredients she liked the most and he loaded those on! The pizza when delivered in 20 minutes had a huge amount of toppings so it was almost hard to see the cheese underneath. My friend also mentioned when ordering that she liked a lot of sauce. The owner brought a little cup of their house made marinara sauce for her to add on top of her delicious pizza which she enjoyed. She said that she liked the thin crust fine. I decided to have the all I could eat salad bar. Not many restaurants have salad bars anymore so it was nice to have this option. Toppings were as expected at a salad bar and it was kept well stocked. There was no protein like chicken or ham cubes but there were hard boiled eggs, cottage cheese and garbanzo beans. There were five salad dressing choices. I ate two full plates so I got my $10 worth. I'm not sure the price for one trip to the salad bar. The atmosphere was very pleasant. The gal who worked there and the owner stopped by our table a couple of times to be sure we were enjoying our meal. My friend ate 4 pieces of her hearty pizza and took two pieces home for her husband. I did use the restroom which was very clean and well stocked. She took the order which included one large 1/2 & 1/2 pizza and onion rings. The girl taking our order couldn't recall what sauce options were available for the onion rings, and asked me to please hold on before finally telling me what the choices were. At the end of the call I asked her what the total bill came to as they don't show prices on their website menu. She told me it was under $45.00. I asked her for the specific amount, and she repeated it was under $45.00. I then asked her how much each item was, and she told me the pizza was $33.00 and the onion rings were $9.75. I told her the total was $42.75. It's absolutely confounding that a person can't add those two numbers together in their head! Husband picked up our order, and it was still warm when he returned home with it. The pizza crust has zero flavor, the cheese tastes like it is pre shredded from a bag, and the ratio of cheese to crust is overwhelming. I peeled back the glop of cheese to taste the sauce. It has a slight tin taste like you get from canned sauce. The pepperoni lacked any spice, and the Canadian bacon had no flavor. The onion rings were incredibly greasy. The only positive part of this experience was how nice the girl was who answered the telephone to take my order. The one star is for how polite she was! You could genuinely taste the freshness and care that went into the food. We also really appreciated the blackboard displaying the IBU and ABV for the beers. But what truly made this experience special wasn't just the food or beer. It was the people and the genuine hospitality. Our server was absolutely wonderful and went above and beyond with our children. They wanted chocolate milk, which wasn't on the menu, and instead of simply saying they didn't have it, he made it especially for them. He topped their chocolate milk with whipped cream and a cherry and told us that he is a dad himself, and that's how he would make it for his own kids, so that's how he wanted to serve it to ours. That may seem like such a small thing, but to us, it said everything. It brought such a genuine human element to the experience. It didn't feel like it was simply about turning tables or making money. It felt like someone genuinely cared about making our children smile and making our family feel welcome. I was told there would be five prawns in a butter sauce. However, what came were eight tiny shrimp -- maybe 1.5 inches each. The butter sauce, which also had lots of chopped tomatoes, pretty much covered the shrimp and then some. This makes sense because besides not being prawns, the shrimp was rubbery and tasteless. I don't understand why I wasn't told that there were no prawns today, to see if I wanted to order something else instead. In retrospect, I should have returned the dish but our server (Beau) was so nice that I just didn't have the heart to do so. I decided to get a to-go container, thinking, I dunno, maybe the butter sauce would season the shrimp and it would taste better in a few hours. I ended up leaving the shrimp behind instead. So, great service, very clean and nice folks. Just stick to pizza, folks. And don't order the shrimp appetizer.
