There is no shortage of pizza places around the beach so trying to decide which to eat at and where to avoid can be a challenge. Papa's is unassuming in a strip mall, but don't let that keep you away. It's a good find. The crust is thinner like New York style with good chewiness. We've had a number of their pizzas including white pizza and specialty ones. So far, never disappointed. I like their prices compared to others too. The 10" are plenty big for one person and the 12" are good for one person who likes a few slices left over. People are always very friendly and service is good. They've always been pretty quick, even when busy. Recommend!

If you like thin crust pizza you will love this place! Their crust is very thin and crunchy. Just because the crust is thin they load on the toppings! It's great to find a place that actually sells a large pizza that it large indeed. Papas was one of my favorite pizza places in the area last time I lived here and glad to see it remains just as good years later. My first week in my new house I ordered from here twice! Subs and salsa the first time and pizza the second. For years now I have been in search of a meatball sub that was just as good or better than one I had in Billings Montana (of all places to find a good meatball sub, lol) but I have at Papa's and it's very exciting to have the meatball sub that rivals the one from Billings five minutes from my house. The pasta dishes looked amazing both times I was in to pick up my food so I plan to try their pasta if I can bring myself to move beyond the pizza and meatball sub.

Ordered 12" half cheese, half pep pizza and a side salad last night. Way overpriced. $25.64. The salad was 6.25 for a handful of lettuce, a few shredded carrots and cheese. See the pic for the food. This used to be a place we liked going. No more, average food, premium prices.

Sure wish you knew when you order to go if the good chef or the bad chef is on because they are so inconsistent. I also am once again reminded that to get this sandwich should only be in restaurant (in case this happens they can adjust) Once again, dry as can be. Where's the sauce n cheese? Should've ordered extra on the side like last time (except it didn't need it then) but it did the time before! By the time you get home it's too late you're screwed! When they're good they are great when they suck well, you get a meal like this. Like I said, inconsistent! Too bad! I usually enjoy their food but again, I think you have to eat it there. At least this item.

Visited Papa's for some Pitz. Ordered the round pepperoni, mushrooms and green peppers Pitz. And also the margarita Pitz. It was totally awesome. Fresh and tasty. . Soooo good. Waitress was friendly and always checking on us. Nice and clean restaurant. Bar was nice too. They serve alcohol. . Parking was great, the lot was right outside. I would definitely go back. From out of town. This pizza was close to my visit spot. Thought I would try. Ordered via online. Said would be ready in 30 minutes. It was not. In fact, I arrived and the order hadn't been started. I was told to wait behind the restaurant??? I waited another 15 minutes!! I got back in the window line. The new attendant was as clueless as the first. A little more time...she said the were slammed? Nice taste, but not worth the delay & confusion. Better choices. read more

We called in an order & they got one of the pizzas wrong. Not a big deal, my husband called & I went back up to get the correct pizza. The woman was originally going to charge me the difference, (we were charged for cheese only but ordered pepperoni), but decided not to when I balked. I was shocked, I was expecting at the very least an apology, at most, some sort of credit back to my card or a discount on the next order. Nope, nothing, she was incredibly rude & said they don't do that there. I told her that's fine, but we're locals & have been going there for over 15 years, but that will be the last time I spend a penny there. read more

It's great to find a place that actually sells a large pizza that it large indeed. good food best thing is the staff. I say this because of the times I visit there Andrea and Whitley have been fantastic hosts and servers. I can walk in at lunch and always be greeted with a smile and a warm feeling like I belong there. I only lived here a short time but this place a great lunch or dinner environment. 5* to those girl. read more

Delicious. Got take out for my 38 th birthday .we shared a small veggie with egg plant pizza which was amazing , great crust and generous with your toppings cooked well. Also shared a side of meat balls which was also very delicious and tasted home made. And last we got the chicken tenders and buffalo fries. Chicken was very tasty and the fries were so good. Everything was fresh and delicious even for take out. This place is great and would reccomend it. read more

was in papas a few weeks ago the pizza was really bad they put the toppings under the cheese I tough the reason they call toppings is because they supposed to be on top that change the way of taste and was really full of grease on top. always enjoy going to papas for pizza but this will be my last time read more

FANTASTIC!!! My friend and I go here at least once a week or a few times every month and we love it! If you ever decide to visit here, get the fries with ranch on the side. Wife had the Vegetarian Pizza and I had the Kitchen Sink Salad. Simple ingredients, delicious flavor, great service, and out the door with two dinners and two beers for under $30, in under 60 minutes (and that wasn't even Happy Hour). With two kids under 3, this is our kind of place! read more

DO NOT ORDER TAKE OUT DINNERS!!! I placed an order to go for the Pasta Shells and Cheese dinner. I've had it at the restaurant and it was good. This time the only thing edible was the salad. The shells and cheese were crammed into a container that was obviously too small. The 3 large shells were mashed down with ricotta squishing out and covered with very little sauce because there wasn't room in the container. I had to wait for what turned out to be a 4 inch bottom piece of garlic bread that was stale a smashed. Upon calling, the owner rudely told me if I wanted a nice dinner I needed to eat there. No offer for compensation or even an apology! I was appauled by his attitude and will never be spending my hard earned money in his restaurant again. Apparently he doesn't worry about keeping customers! read more

Just left papa's pizza and I was really looking forward to good pizza and a couple of drinks all I got was a rude waitress who greeted us with I am from Russia? I didn't care or ask where she was from, got the order wrong (which we let go, and greeted with a bill that we could have been from Ruth Chris steakhouse. My advice GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

Just a real quick stop in to my fave pizza shop in Calabash. It's definitely not "New York Pizza" (haha- it's the water!) But I'm a New Yorker. So I'm "pizza picky." This place makes a decent pizza. Seated immediately! Waitress was fast and great! Ordered fried pickles with ranch, boneless chicken wings and a large cheese pizza! Pickles came out first and we quickly devoured them! Next out was the Chicken which was incredibly crispy in a good way! And the sauce was perfect! We ordered mild and it was just right! The pizza came out last and it was also excellent! We will definitely be back! So convenient that the grocery store is right next door! This place we noticed also has a pick up window! Will definitely use that as well! read more

No longer recommended. Lunch Pizza slices looked and tasted like they were fresh two days ago. Crust literally so hard that it tore up my mouth. That is just the food. The service also must be commented on. Slow, inattentive, inept. That is all. This is not a knee jerk reaction, last time the food was good, but the service has been consistently bad. read more

Service was good and quick. They were well staffed. This is the first Calzone I've ever consumed that didn't come with sauce. There was zero sauce inside the calzone! . I ordered a calzone with pep, cheese, and mushrooms. Inside the bread was mozzarella cheese, a ton of ricotta cheese, pepperoni, and mushrooms. No sauce! It did come with about an ounce of cold sauce on the side. Needless to say, I made myself eat at least half of it since I just spent $16.50 on it. $14.00 was the cost of the calzone with a $2.50 tip to the cooks.

So to paraphrase Ernie Banks *skypoint* Let's eat two! On Saturday the first game was at 9:00 AM followed by the 2nd game at 10:45 AM. After a sweep for the good guys we determined not eating the hotel "food" was probably the right choice but we were both famished. A cursory search showed this lovely eatery was about 15 minutes from the ball fields and we made our GPS-led way right to it. Ish. It's very small, and it's an old house with not great signage, so my dumb a** drove right past it GPS or not. Quickly correcting my directional faux pas, we found what was, in the moment, the last available parking spot and made our way to the door. The place was packed but to our good fortune a table was getting up to leave and it was quickly cleared for us. Did I mention it's a cozy spot? From memory (which, in my case is spotty at best) I'm guessing there are less than 25 seats inside, although there is also outdoor seating so maybe forget I said that. There's plenty of room. Anyway, our server, the lovely and talented Leslie came by with coffee and water (yay to both) made a couple recco's since we were first timers and was off. Not terribly long after she returned with Fried Green Tomatoes for B squared and a Rustic Chicken Bowl (the special) for me. Both meals were outstanding! The Chicken Bowl was a schmulya of sausage gravy, fried chicken strips, waffle fries, and scrambled eggs. That's not a combo I would've considered making but dammit the dish was tasty! The FGT had a balsamic drizzle, feta, strawberries, etc. and they didn't last on her plate long. Sunday's games were at 1:00 PM and 3:00PM so we decided to simplify our meal search and come back here before our afternoon of baseball. We were greeted like old friends and shown to a table. The manager apologized for the table as it was small and in a busyish spot, but we weren't bothered by either. Leslie remembered our coffee orders from the day before and delivered them promptly. Our Sunday choices were a delightful Quiche for BB and Biscuits and Gravy for myself. Both great calls, although I will say the sausage patty that came with the quiche was rather salty. Lastly, let me just say here that both BB and I have restaurant history at various points in our lives. So we get what it's like dealing with the general public, what type of personality it takes to be good at the job. I want to go on the record that, while the food was great, and the setting was charming, the thing that made our experiences at this restaurant memorable was the staff. Everyone we encountered was phenomenal. Always hustling, always pleasant, always courteous. I know, I know, nobody is that great, blah, blah, blah. Whatever. I'm not big on giving 5 stars, I think this is only my 2nd one. They earned it. Quit whining about my review, go eat here, and tell me where I was wrong. You can't do it, because TL;DR I'm right about this place and you'll love it too

Our waiter was just fantastic and super sweet when addressing my any. I had a pineapple mimosa to start with, it was ok, a better quality champagne could be used. Brunch for me was the Ham omelette with green peppers, onions, cheese, and minus the mushrooms. It was delicious. The fried potatoes were crispy and tasty. The low country biscuit was fall apart good. Very cute place, will definitely go back!

So disappointing! Ordered the meatball parm sub and threw half of it out. So loaded with bread crumbs, it tasted like I was eating the bread crumbs right out of the can! Totally unedible and there was not even a hint of beef taste in these meatballs. Worst meatballs I've ever eaten, and this is not a way to cut corners. Also, the bread was microwaved and tough as nails. I assume the bread was microwaved to melt the cheese, which was not even in the sandwich it was on the edge of the sandwich. Microwaving bread on an Italian sub or any sub is a no no. Everyone knows, the bread makes the sandwich. Between that and the bread balls, I am not happy...$15 for one awful sandwich of my hard-earned money! read more

Just there for lunch. Pizza was old and warm at best. The crust was tough. In the end I asked for a to go drink from the waiter. The owner was right in front of me and told the waiter "no to go with the special" then gave me a nasty look. He then said one free refill, I'm not going to lose money. I would have gladly paid a little extra for a to go cup. Horrible customer service from the owner very rude. The waiter was very courteous. Will not return and will let everyone in the area know what a jerk the owner is. The really didn't even deserve a one star read more

My husband and I go here three or four times a week. Food is always good but one thing that needs to be corrected is getting everyone's food out at the same time. The staff is wonderful and usually on point. See you guys tomorrow read more

This pizzeria is fantastic! The crust is perfectly crispy, the sauce is full of flavor, and the toppings are always fresh. The staff is super friendly, and the atmosphere makes you want to stay longer. Best pizza in town! read more
