Greek Salad that came with the Entree
    Dina L.

Pape Village is one of my go to Greek fast food restaurants to go to. Located at Pape and Westwood (one block north of Mortimer) with ample parking on Pape (green p) or on the side street. Now that the weather is nicer they opened their large sized patio which gets great sun exposure and have a lot of seating available inside as well as being able to order take out. All their food is cooked fresh to order and with the case of their Chicken and Pork Gyro once they have run out of the meat there is none left. They also have daily hot specials that aren't listed on the menu such as stuffed calamari, moussaka, lamb in a tomato stew, etc. This day I ordered the Chicken Bifteki Entree (like a giant meatball) that comes with a Greek salad, potatoes and rice (I'm not a fan of rice in general so I get double potatoes lol) and my friend got the Pork Gyro with an order of Prasini Salata (green salad). The portions are really big and ended up taking half my food home for dinner that night. The Chicken Bifteki is so juicy and flavourful it would also be great made into a sandwich at home as leftovers. Their Gyros are also massive!!! They are made authentic style with French fries inside and actual pieces of meat, not the donnair style.

Chicken gyro plate. It was huge!

Restaurant was somewhat cramped, especially towards the back side. Other than that, food was super fresh - everything from the bread to the grilled meats were made in house. No old stuff here! I enjoyed my very generous chicken gyro plate. Ended up having to pack some home because I could not finish it all! Meat was still tasty and fresh for lunch the next day as well! Calamari was also really good - would definitely recommend getting it as an app. Would highly recommend coming here.

It's suitable for gatherings, birthdays and is fully functional during the dance nights on the patio. Patio is covered and heated and on Friday & Saturday nights will only offer bottle service and dance parties with a live DJ. We made a reservation for Friday evening on the patio. Unfortunately, the servers seated all couples cramped in one corner, even though there were many tables available; that made everyone uncomfortable. We ordered Red Wine, "Trio Dip" and "Spaducci Skewers". The food was delicious, but we could've enjoyed our night even more if the sitting arrangements were better.

The table ordered a bunch of different items. Everyone has mixed opinions about their food. The sliders, this was so incredibly dry that I had to ask for any sauce to eat it. Paired with fries which were tasty. I had asked to have my food packed (all items ) they didn't pack half of it. The service was good, she was sweet the ambiance was nice but overall, the food review for most guest present was below average. Several chicken skewers brought to the table were uncooked (pink) and had to sent back for further cooking.

Me and some family members were in the area, and decided to give it a try. We were greeted and seated promptly and then, for the longest time ... nothing. As it turned out, we'd spend a lot longer at this restaurant than we had anticipated. After about 20 minutes, a kind and apparently exhausted waitress appeared, so we ordered drinks and saganaki to start. 10 minutes later, our drinks appeared, and we ordered our main courses then. Although the menu gave prices for wine by the glass, half litre or bottle, we were told that they don't have enough wine to offer any more than a glass at a time. Strange, and unexpected. Eventually, the saganaki (Greek flaming cheese) arrived, and it was really, really good - a generous triangle of grilled, flaming cheese, easily split between the three of us. It was served with some odd bread, which resembled buttered and toasted hot dog or burger buns. This helped take the edge off our hunger as we waited for our main course. And waited. Looking at the time, I noticed that we had already spent over 60 minutes in the restaurant, which was extremely chilly on a cold winter's evening. Many customers, including us, wore their coats throughout the evening. Apparently, the restaurant dining area is heated only by two electric fire places. Our waitress came out and let us know that we had to wait because my daughter's order of octopus was taking a while. At this point, we had already committed to being here, so we had no choice but to see it through. Finally, the food came out. My daughter's octopus was, sadly, overcooked and tough, but still tasty, and the lemon roasted potatoes were excellent. My husband's roasted lamb did not seem like it was prepared as a roast, as there was no browning or roast] flavor, but seemed to have been prepared in a pressure cooker or slow cooker. I had ordered the Moussaka, and had high expectations, based on my memory of Milo's creamy, eggplant-filled, nicely seasoned Moussaka of my distant, long-ago previous visit. However, my portion of Moussaka had the oddest texture: rather mushy and grainy. The well-seasoned, savory tasting ground beef of my memories had now been transformed into a rather average-tasting ground beef mixture that would have been equally at home in a sloppy joe. And I could not find an eggplant in the casserole at all ... well, maybe it had somehow been reduced to such mushiness that it lost it's eggplant quality, but I could swear that it was missing. It was all edible food, though, but not up to our expectations. I hate to give any place a lowly, two-star review. I had hoped for much more, because there is so much about Milo's to raise one's hopes: it's not a big chain, but locally, family-run; it has an appealing and timeless Mediterranean decor; and the menu offers many interesting Greek choices. A few small changes would be an upgrade: better bread, some additional staff and a few space heaters would be a good start. Milo's is the type of restaurant that I would love to support, but I've read enough reviews with similar observations that I am unlikely to return.

While in line, someone suggested the souvlaki and I was already aiming to get a gyro so I knew we were gonna be good. Parking was busy but not impossible to find here. It's fast casual. You can get food, some extra desserts and drinks/coffee and extra pita/flatbread or tzatziki sauce. I got a gyro and a "small" poutine. Let me just say that I've had a LOT of gyros and this one was by far the best. Tons of meat, toppings, just enough tzatziki that I didn't want to order an extra side (still should've). The poutine was enough to feed a family of four. Holy smokes this was spectacular. I'd have gotten extra gravy bc it's so much tastier here in Canada than anyplace in the USA. Family owned, this is a great place to come alone or with friends. You can eat something different every single time and it's just so delicious. I will be back. My goal is to try more stuff every time I'm here but the gyro was perfection so who knows? Support small owned businesses!

This was one of the only places a guy that I was seeing when I was in my early twenties and I would go, late at night, when we knew we wouldn't catch anyone else we knew out. The food was predictable, always - and not in a bad way - it just hit the spot after a night of drinking, or when you are hungover. The salad will forever have too much dressing and will be the unhealthiest thing but the souvlaki here was honestly the most shocking thing. Mind you I have not been in six and a half or seven years so don't take my word for it, but for a place to be around this long and still have loyal customers - they're really doing something right, it's not just sheer luck so give it a go! There is zero ambiance or date night feel here, okay. Don't take your girl unless you've been married over ten years. It's boys or girls night out material only. haha
