Milo's Greek Restaurant has been in its Pickering location forever. It was here when I moved to Pickering, 25 years ago, and it has been ages since I've been back. Me and some family members were in the area, and decided to give it a try. We were greeted and seated promptly and then, for the longest time ... nothing. As it turned out, we'd spend a lot longer at this restaurant than we had anticipated. After about 20 minutes, a kind and apparently exhausted waitress appeared, so we ordered drinks and saganaki to start. 10 minutes later, our drinks appeared, and we ordered our main courses then. Although the menu gave prices for wine by the glass, half litre or bottle, we were told that they don't have enough wine to offer any more than a glass at a time. Strange, and unexpected. Eventually, the saganaki (Greek flaming cheese) arrived, and it was really, really good - a generous triangle of grilled, flaming cheese, easily split between the three of us. It was served with some odd bread, which resembled buttered and toasted hot dog or burger buns. This helped take the edge off our hunger as we waited for our main course. And waited. Looking at the time, I noticed that we had already spent over 60 minutes in the restaurant, which was extremely chilly on a cold winter's evening. Many customers, including us, wore their coats throughout the evening. Apparently, the restaurant dining area is heated only by two electric fire places. Our waitress came out and let us know that we had to wait because my daughter's order of octopus was taking a while. At this point, we had already committed to being here, so we had no choice but to see it through. Finally, the food came out. My daughter's octopus was, sadly, overcooked and tough, but still tasty, and the lemon roasted potatoes were excellent. My husband's roasted lamb did not seem like it was prepared as a roast, as there was no browning or roast] flavor, but seemed to have been prepared in a pressure cooker or slow cooker. I had ordered the Moussaka, and had high expectations, based on my memory of Milo's creamy, eggplant-filled, nicely seasoned Moussaka of my distant, long-ago previous visit. However, my portion of Moussaka had the oddest texture: rather mushy and grainy. The well-seasoned, savory tasting ground beef of my memories had now been transformed into a rather average-tasting ground beef mixture that would have been equally at home in a sloppy joe. And I could not find an eggplant in the casserole at all ... well, maybe it had somehow been reduced to such mushiness that it lost it's eggplant quality, but I could swear that it was missing. It was all edible food, though, but not up to our expectations. I hate to give any place a lowly, two-star review. I had hoped for much more, because there is so much about Milo's to raise one's hopes: it's not a big chain, but locally, family-run; it has an appealing and timeless Mediterranean decor; and the menu offers many interesting Greek choices. A few small changes would be an upgrade: better bread, some additional staff and a few space heaters would be a good start. Milo's is the type of restaurant that I would love to support, but I've read enough reviews with similar observations that I am unlikely to return. read more

Food took so long to come out... we sat for an hour waiting for our food... It was really hard to flag down our waitress as she never made eye contact towards our table, so my friend had an empty drink for 20min. The food was good once it came out though. We've eaten here a handful of times and the dining experience has always been cordial. The warm service makes you feel like you're eating at your friend's house with their grandmother cooking for you. Our recent visit was just that. We were greeted and seated promptly by a very friendly older lady who did a fantastic job checking on us throughout our meal. We shared a 1/2 litre of the house Greek white wine, calamari appetizer (delicious light batter), gyro dinner and a lamb chop dinner. The food is average with both gyro and lamb chops bearing good flavours. The potatoes could have been cooked more as I like my greek potatoes to be softer and my side veggies were the frozen variety which had spongy texture which is never good. The complimentary bread was just meh. My lamb chops came overcooked and too chewy but the flavour was good. Overall, our meal was exactly what we expected with some misses on execution. Would we come back to eat here again? Maybe...because we like that Milo's is not a chain restaurant and like the ambience and service. read more

This restaurant has really gone downhill. Moved to Pickering in 2020 and have been coming to this restaurant at least once a week up until we noticed a slight change in how the food was prepared (rice was either soggy or dry/old and potatoes are overcooked/undercooked. One time we asked if the chef has changed because our regular orders didn't taste the same. The lady got very offended and said "no". Then I go on the Durham Region Eats group and noticed that every time someone recommended Milos, there was a lot of backlash saying Milos is not the same anymore.. they changed owners or whatever.. So we go back there once more to give the benefit of the doubt.. Still, the food is horrible. The salad is never fresh; at least 3-4 pieces of wilted lettuce. Customer service has always been bare minimum. 3 main workers. Some nights, only one person is managing all of the tables. Although the restaurant is not even half full, we get a little impatient because of how slow the service is.. even when we just want to ask for the bill. Also, the tables are always sticky. We go there with kids, and always seems like it needs a second wipedown.. even when requested, we were made to feel like we were "bothersome". Don't think we will ever come back. Unless it's the last restaurant on earth that is open.. Rather go all the way to Esquire's for some good Greek food. read more

Pork souvlaki was tough and potatoes & rice were soaked in an unappetizing red sauce. Not the typical lemon potatoes and rice I was expecting! Option of 2 skewers pork vs 1 skewer chicken for the same price...strange!!! I would definitely prefer tender chicken! Service was slow and air conditioning was not working! It's hard to believe this restaurant has been around for so long (first review 8/19/10) and this is only the second, and last, time I'll be coming here. For the second time in half an hour (at a different restaurant in Pickering), I was told I'm not allowed to take pictures. Really? So how did those pictures end up on Yelp? Was I being singled out? My cell phone can take better pics than any of the ones posted on Yelp for this place. Rather than argue with my server, I left before my meal arrived. This was the second time in half an hour that I was told no pictures allowed. It was also only the second time I've ever been told this. What's up with Pickering restaurants? Local take out during Covid 19 health crisis. Called in order for large pork slovaki dinner which included a small Greek salad, rice, potatoes, and pork slovaki. Ordered pork souvlaki, lamb souvlaki, spinach pie (spanakopita), and gyros. Overall the food was about less than average. Pretty bland and portions were ok sized. Meat was tender and the lamb was cooked to my liking. The potato's were also nice and soft. Salad was meh. Standard iceberg lettuce with a tomato slice, feta cheese, red onion and 2 black olives. Wish there was cucumber in there to add a bit more body. The spanakopita seems to be frozen. It was soggy and stingy on the filling. The gyros was pretty sad. Only tzatziki and raw diced onions. I did ask for no tomato's, but I expected something a bit more than sauce, onions, and meat. read more

Always friendly and fast service. Whether it was sit down and now take out because of Covid19. Our usual order is the Pork Souvlaki and small Village Salad. Really inexpensive dinner for two. Several of my relatives recommended this place. Sadly, this is the first and now the only time I will go. To the owners: I went on Feb 9, 2020. Many of plates the group ordered came with rice and potatoes in a red sauce. The rice and potatoes in the red sauce were not well received, and barely touched by all. I'm not sure if it's a tomato sauce. Try serving that sauce on the side? I would have loved to eat the rice and potatoes without the sauce. read more

Our server was friendly, but the food was mediocre at best. The starter bread was a toasted hamburger bun (literally) with lots of butter slathered on it. Next came our salads, a.k.a our lettuce. There was barely any dressing on our salads and it was so dry to eat. Lastly, our main meals arrived. I ordered the regular chicken souvlaki. It came with potatoes and rice. The potatoes were good - the best part of the entire meal. However, everything else was rather bland tasting. Also, the little tubs of tzatziki definitely weren't enough. I'd hate to say it, but you would probably get a better meal if you went to a fast food Greek restaurant instead. We were celebrating a birthday and also ordered desserts. The desserts were all store-bought cakes (the waiter confirmed this), so they were absolutely nothing special either. The waiter said they used to make their own desserts in-house, but not anymore. I will say that they were very accommodating for our last-minute party of 12. They weren't busy when we arrived (on a Sunday evening), but I still appreciate that they put together tables for us without a reservation. Love the Mousakka here. It was creamy and soft, generous portion given. The salad I got with the meal was light and crispy as well. The Spinach/Artichoke dip appetizer was one of the best myself and my parents ever had which was surprising. Usually they all resemble every other restaurants. Make sure you have the Caramel Crunch for dessert too, that was a win ending to my dinner. The staff are very friendly/attentive and the restaurant is clean. Milo's has become one of my favorite Greek restaurants! I've been here several times and each visit was superb. The restaurant has a Santorini island vibe in and out and it's pretty cozy and spacious inside with lots of Greek decor and tall windows brining in tons of sunshine. The staff here is friendly and provide great service. The menu has a wide variety of yummy options. They offer appetizers, salads, soups, burgers/sandwiches, mediterranean dips, souvlaki, gyro, seafood, chicken and lamb dinners. They also have mediterranean pastas, platters, vegetarian dishes, a nice selection of side orders, desserts/drinks and more. The food here is fresh, hot and cooked to perfection. The potions are pretty generous and the prices are very reasonable. My favorites have to be grilled octopus appetizer ($12.95) - tender and juicy, the vegetarian souvlaki dinner ($11.95)- grilled veggies serve with rice and potatoes that burst with flavor and a Greek salad. I'm also addicted to their grilled calamari dinner ($15.95) - perfectly cooked squid marinated in fresh herbs. I always like to drown my dinner with their sweet and flakey baklava ($3.50) and Greek coffee ($2.50). Overall, Milo's is a great Greek restaurant with friendly and efficient staff, delicious Greek food and reasonable prices. They also have free parking and an outdoor patio during the summer time. Been here before I think under a different name but it looks identical. The server was very good and nice. Each person got a side salad that was large enough to be a meal and meal portions are enormous. Two of us brought food home. The chicken in my salad a bit dry but the tzatziki sauce was very good. To sum our lunch here was disappointing My wife really likes Greek food so when we were looking for a place near Pickering Town Centre this place popped up. We sat down and for lunch time there were only 5 other guests. As we ordered the guy beside us had just been served and he inhaled his meal. My spouse orders the chicken with salad and potatoes. I had the Caesar and the daughter had the pork skewer with potatoes. The salads both of them were pretty plain. A lot of romain lettuce with a light topping of feta on my wife's along with one slice of tomato cut in half. The potatoes were cut way to thick and were pretty bland. With my Caesar I asked for bacon bits. What I got was a whole head or romain with 16 croutons and simulated bacon bits. But I thought something was missing. Our appetiser. I picked up some take out food from here. I must say i like the way the take out is a separate door from the main dining room. The food was decent as far as greek food goes, enjoyable for sure. However the person who served me seemed almost uninterested and detached from the entire experience, almost robotic in fact. Anyway, i ordered the regular size chicken souvlaki dinner. One kebab, rice, potatoes, bread, and a salad for $15. I must admit i was certainly full when i was done, in fact i couldn't finish it all. So I came here for my birthday back in September 2018. It was hot out and when we arrived to the restaurant the air conditioning wasn't on. It felt like it was hotter inside the restaurant then outside. No one was there it felt like we rented the whole restaurant for us. I asked for a pork souvlakia on a pita Combo with fries and I asked the lady if I could have an extra souvlakis on a pita but no combo just the souvlaki. She gave me 2 combos and I was confused because I told her about it and I told them I'm not paying for 2 combos. They made me pay for both plates where I specifically told her to just give me one combo with 2 souvlakis! Also my girlfriend got the lamb with potatoes and the potatoes were so oily and shit. This place really disappoints me. Idk why they are so rude and the vibe in there feels so off. There's way better Greek places in Durham. Screw this place! read more

Where to begin really? You're greeted by a scowling hostess when you come in and treated as if you're the last person she wanted to see that day. You're then shown to your seat, a sunbleached plastic booth with a stained table. After some room temperature water, if you're lucky, someone might come and take your order. No mention of specials, no recommendations, just a notepad and monosyllabic responses. It's at this point that you look around and think that this place really reminds you of modern day Greece. A lot of unhappy people skulking around like they've lost everything. Your food comes. Surely, you think, there must be some redeeming factor to this place; there must be some reason it's still open. Obviously the food must be the saving grace. No. You are given a dried out, and well over seasoned piece of lamb, drowning in tzatziki, and sparingly garnished with a few shreds of lettuce. Roll all that up in some undercooked dough, and there's your recipe for disappointment. Let them know it's not very good, I dare you. Then you get to meet Mr. Jimmy. A thoroughly unpleasant man who accuses you of not knowing what you're talking about when it comes to his cuisine and you're definitely in the wrong because 'everyone' LOVES this particular dish. You are offered a substitution for an equally disappointing alternate. A hamburger! Because at this point, Mr. Jimmy has lost all respect for you as a paying customer. At this point, your server has fully abandoned you, likely at the request of Mr. Jimmy, as you can hear him in the kitchen or in his office speaking in a different language to his staff. Your check comes with BOTH items listed. The burger and the lamb horror show. Again, nobody will come to verify everything is in order. Nobody will come to even take your money. You have to physically chase down your server to dispute the bill, at which point you are re-introduced to, guess who? Mr. Jimmy begrudgingly takes the item you did not eat off the bill, all the while acting like you are stealing money directly from his pocket. How very unfortunate.... That's really the only way to start this re-review. A friend and I went for dinner last night and since I wanted to try this place out again and she was feeling like greek food, we decided to head down to Milos. We got there around 7:30 and it wasn't busy at all, two other tables and I think one of them was family members of the owners or something. Wanting to try something that would give me a good sense of how this restaurant is, I ended up ordering the beef and lamb gyros dinner (regular size), which comes with a greek salad and two sides. I chose the rice and lemon potatoes. Our salads arrived fairly quickly and their salad is really growing on me. They brought over that weird hot dog bun as bread again but we ate it and it was tasty enough. When I got my main, it looked great! Full plate of food, TONS of gyro and tzatziki and lots of my side dishes. My friend and I were chatting away as we ate and as I ate more and more of it, I started to realize it wasn't all that great. The gyro was ridiculously salty. So much so that I left more than half and actually ended up waking up in the middle of the night so thirsty from this salty gyro. The rice was boring boring boring - I haven't had this kind of greek rice before, it had some kind of tomato base in it, but it had almost no flavor and wasn't a good addition to the plate. I was really looking forward to the lemon potatoes because they're one of my favourites but they were mediocre as well. I didn't get ANY lemon off these potatoes and they were basically just hunks of potato cooked in some kind of sauce that didn't have much flavor. The service was fine until the end, when they seemed to have forgotten about us. They cleared our plates away and since we were chatting we just kept on talking and waiting for them to come back with our bills or ask us for dessert (I was actually thinking about trying their Baklava or something) and they never did. I had to flag down the busboy/host and indicate that we wanted our check before the waitress brought it over. All in all, this was a seriously disappointing meal. I'm not sure if this is authentic greek, but if it is then I guess I'm not much a fan of authentic greek food. This was a rather flavorless, too salty meal that didn't satisfy my greek craving at all. It's a sad day when I prefer food court greek over "authentic greek" and when I (not greek but italian) can make better more flavorful greek food myself. I'll be back for the salad I had last time, its tasty and the portion size was great, but I won't be coming back to this restaurant to eat in ever again. read more

Do not go here with kids. This is the first time in my entire life that I refused to tip and we eat out a lot. The staff are rude and full of attitude. My 9 month old dropped some crayons (we were only at the restaurant for about 10 or 15 mins at this point still waiting for our server to come to ask if we wanted any drinks). The server picked the crayons up from the floor (which we had already been doing for the past 5 or 10 mins) and slammed them onto the table. Then later my 2 year old dropped her colouring sheet and the server picks it up (my husband was already standing up and about to pick it up) and tells us to pick it up or she will trip. The sheet fell in a place which away from her walking path anyway. At the end of the meal when she brought our check she saw the rice that fell on the floor from our 9 month old (it wasn't an excessive amount, only what you would expect from a baby) and she stopped, let out an irritating sigh, got down on the ground to inspect the floor then slammed the tray with our bill on the table. I have never come across such rude service before. We regret having come here and will never return. If you have a kids menu, high chairs and crayons, don't expect infants or toddlers to act like adults, they are KIDS! Also don't carry yourself as a child when you are a fully grown adult. Restaurant atmosphere - dated, doesn't feel clean, tables are not balanced and chairs are very heavy. Bathroom smelt like sewage. Food - food was ok, I have had much better in the city - chicken souvlaki was not juicy or flavourful which was disappointing. The roasted potatoes were nice as was the rice. The saganaki (spelling?) was not great, I have had much better saganki in Greece. If you have a problem with kids, ban them from your restaurant. If you have a problem with the mess, hand a broom over to your patrons. Let's see how you stay in business then. I should also mention, we really like Greek food and the Mr. Greek location (by the home Depot) is amazing with our kids!! We recently ordered take-out food. My son tasted the chicken souvlaki and immediately stopped eating after the taste and texture of the chicken revealed that it was extremely undercooked. He immediately had painful stomach cramps. After resting, he began to vomit violently throughout the night. He had to miss work the next day and the severe abdominal cramping continued. He is a healthy young man. I cannot imagine the outcome if the customer was a young child or elderly person. When I phoned the restaurant they didn't care. Just said "sometimes the chicken is undercooked". No apology at all. Avoid this place! Your health is far too important. read more

This is pretty much the only Greek place anywhere close to us anymore, so we are kind of stuck with it. I would have given a 2 1/2 but you can't do that. They are never busy which is good, but I guess the food is why, as it is just meh, nothing special. They give you decent portions but there just isn't anything exciting about the food. The salad is what you expect and OK, the bread could use more garlic and butter, the rice is just rice, the potatoes are OK, and the pork souvlaki is OK. Not great but not bad, just average. My husband has gotten the moussaka and says it isn't that good and he wouldn't get it again, same for the gyros. I miss the place we used to go (now changed ownership and down the tubes) since this is a poor substitute. read more

From someone that has grown up on the Danforth and me being Greek I think I should know Greek food. I went there yesterday with my girlfriend and I ordered the typical Pork souvlaki dinner and she had the Calamari dinner. In one work I would describe the food as ""Excellent"" This food is comparable to the best Greek restaurants on the Danforth. Our waitress was friendly and got our food quickly. I'm not sure why this place got so many bad reviews; the only thing I can think of is the people that are writing these bad reviews don't know anything about Greek food. Order the typical Greek food and not burgers or pasta and you'll be fine going back there over and over again eating authentic Greek food.. I know I will. read more

Omg.. Daughter order a salad dinner it was the same as my side salad. When I asked about such told she got two more tomatoes and olives. Really. That justify s the 6 dollars more. Son got chicken fingers way over cooked he left them. Wife pita sandwich ..she had to cut the chicken one big chuck. Like really. I asked for lamb med got well. It's Mother's Day, we made a reservation a week in advance for 5 people. Once we got to Milos, all of the tables were taken and they did not honour our reservation. The host had told us that someone messed up the reservations, this should not be happening and on Mother's Day too where now it's an hour wait or more everywhere else you go because the restaurant overbook reservation. I have been here numerous times over the past years. I'm obsessed with their Chicken Greek salads. Don't know what it is about it, but it's just delicious. The rest of the meals I've tried, like souvlaki dinners, are just decent... I've had better Greek food for sure, but I've also had much worse... The biggest downfall to this place though is the service... Not friendly AT all...boarder line rude..... So I usually just order take out lol read more

Nothing special about this restaurant nor the food they serve. The Greek salad that came with the entrees, the garlic bread and the calamari were decent. The rest were just disappointing: only one skewer of chicken souvlaki came with the dinner plate, the moussaka was the most bland I've ever tasted anywhere and in fact was not eaten at all, the steamed veggies were the frozen kind and so flavourless, and the potatoes, c'mon , we can make more flavourful ones at home. Season your food guys, taste them before you serve them! No amount of flaming plates or OPA's will make me return to this place ... read more

YUM! Have been going here for years, and will always love it! The people are amazing, the food is amazing and I love the atmosphere. Whether its lunch, or dinner; I love this place! I usually order the chicken souvlaki meal. I never leave hungry; the garlic bread is so good, but my meal... oh wow! All of the flavours go so well together! The service is always great, servers are quick and always have smiles on their faces; and check on their customers frequently. LOVE LOVE LOVE. read more
