I visited Paper Moon Vineyards on a beautiful day in August where tastings are for $1 each. After trying the Rosé and the Blackberry Sangria, I found wines that were sweet and delicious that I was happy to get a glass and sit outside and enjoy the weather. The servers were very nice and helped us with our choices of wine. A glass of wine is very healthy with lots of flavor. Paper Moon Vineyards is a gem. So much so that we had our after wedding party here two summers ago. Paper Moon has three different seating areas: and indoor "restaurant" type section, an enclosed patio area, and outdoor picnic table seating complete with a tent, fire pit, and various board games available. On weekends there is often live music (usually 6:00-9:00 PM) either in the patio area or outdoors during the nice weather. No matter where you choose to sit, you'll find a very welcoming, relaxing environment. Obviously Paper Moon is best known for their wines. I don't drink wine, but I still love this place. They have beers on tap or by the bottle/can. You can also choose a house made hard cider. They also have some good food choices. It isn't a very elaborate menu, but everything is fresh and good. My family typically orders a cheese plate, pizza and chicken quesadilla to share. Personally, I prefer the quesadilla. The menu also has cheese bread, pretzels (Thurs-Sat only), soup (also Thurs-Sat), and panini sandwiches. Paper Moon Vineyards is GREAT spot. Highly recommended. Where are my wine lovers? This place is a great little stop on your way to Cleveland. We needed a stop over on our way home from a procedure and this was right off the road. Such a cute little area. You wouldn't even know it was tucked right beside a highway. Lots of outdoor seating, an outdoor patio and a gorgeous indoor area as well. They had a nice menu that we would've tried had we known. We did try the fruit and cheese plate, it was good and a LOT of food, we didn't need. The bartender was helpful in leading us to some wines we would like and we ended up purchasing 2 bottles to take home. This is a winery that's not right on 71, but not far off either. Take the time and enjoy the drive over to this sweet little winery and have some really great wine. read more

Why have we not visited here before? This is a great place with really good pitcher drinks. The outside seating area is great and very accommodating. I've always loved Paper Moon Vineyards. Maybe that's because of my fondness for Vermilion, but truly, I love this spot. This is a much simpler winery than most in the Greater Cleveland area, so please keep expectations realistic that you're coming to a small winery. It has great charm. When it's not a pandemic, they have live music with local musicians. They also do free local delivery of wine and can ship some products directly from their website. With 2-3 days notice, they can also assemble a super cute, local gift basket featuring the wine of your choice for under $50. All the wines here are excellent. I prefer white wines and find their selection to be just about perfection. My favorite is the semi-dry Lighthouse Cayuga. If you like red wine, go with the Sailors Red (which also comes in the cutest bottle ever). When it comes to food at the winery, you can expect standard plates like cheese plates, salads, soup and panini. But come here for the wine and stay for the nautical inspired charm. read more

The wife and I stopped here in the evening after spending the day at Cedar Point. We had a hard time finding it off the major street though. The sign is very small and the vineyard is set back amongst a wooded area. They need a bigger sign!! They have tons of parking and a nice patio area that let in the evening breeze. We saw a paint and sip class going on under a canopy off to the side. We ordered food and sampled some wine to see what we liked. We chose a riesling that was pretty good. We were helped by Rachel. She was really nice and very knowledgeable about the wine. We recommend talking with her when you visit. Food was good and we would come back again. This is a great place to spend a summer afternoon. We met a Paper Moon at 4:00 PM and grabbed a table on the large patio. There was live music being played by a DJ, which was entertaining, especially when people started to dance. The crowd here is mostly 50+ years, but they know how to have a good time. This was my first visit to Paper Moon and my first winery visit ever. It was nice to be able to sample the wine before buying some. I didn't care for the red wines much (and I tried almost all of them) and I'm not a fan of white wine, so my wife and I shared a pitcher of red sangria, which was sweet and delicious. For dinner, I ordered an Italian Panini sandwich, which was delicious. It was served with potato chips, which I did not finish. We also ordered some bread, a cheese platter, and a hummus platter. All the food was really good and the atmosphere was just beautiful. It was a great day to do just about anything in the Cleveland area. We'll probably be back because this was a very relaxing afternoon spent at Paper Moon. read more

This was our first visit to Papermoon, we often find ourselves in Vermilion on a Sunday and they're closed. Glad we finally chose to visit! My husband had a glass of the Blackberry Sangria. He loved it, good go to if you're looking for a very sweet red. I had a glass of the Harvest Blend. Also a sweet red, but a great balance of different grapey flavors. They have a good selection of food to choose from. We went with the margherita pizza. Delicious!!! Highly recommend making the stop if you're in the area. read more

But as I'm standing in line waiting to place my order I noticed that the young man behind the counter was very rude and dismissive to an elderly couple that was having a hard time deciding what they wanted. He became nasty when they didn't know what they wanted. Such a shame. I truly like this place but the behavior from this young man--who has worked here for a while--is terrible to see. I'm giving Paper Moon Winery 5 stars for the variety and quality of their wines and for the quality of their food--the menu is a bit more expansive than the typical winery. We ordered a light lunch of Ciabatta Cheesy Bread and Pumpkin/Apple/Bacon Soup--could not have been fresher or tastier and the quantity was over the top! Wine tastings were generous as well! Service also gets 5 stars--Beau, a local lad, was our server and I would recommend asking for him! The place is clean but does not have the ambience of some of the northern Ohio wineries, but everything else was so exceptional, I have to stick with 5 stars! read more

As we are driving down the highway we see a sign for Paper Moon vineyards. So we stopped to try it. We go into the "tasting center" to taste some wines to see what bottles we would like to purchase and take home. Only to find out we can't "taste wine." We were required to buy a $7 glass to see if we wanted to buy a $20 bottle. My wife didn't even like the wine she was forced to buy. So no bottle purchase. Maybe if is she got to "taste" a few different kinds we would have bought a few bottles. Shouldn't call it a "tasting"center if you are not going to let people "taste." read more

I was very disappointed in the fact that there was no sanitizing of anything. I watch 3 tables get wiped down after people had left their table The same dirty rag was used on all 3 tables. no chairs were wiped down no sanitizing products were used. At that time i went out to my. car, got some lysol wipes and wiped down my chairs and table. I love the Paper Moon Vineyard/Winery. It is such a romantic and casual place. The inside decor is lovely; lots of stone and iron accents with green ivy. The bar is very large and has at least 4-6 people behind it, ready to pour you a sample or provide you with a bottle and glasses. My parents and I came here on 10/6 on our way to Cleveland airport, so we just wanted a little alcohol to calm the pre-flight jitters and a snack or two. We ordered a cheese plate and a hummus appetitzer. Both came out quickly (as expected) and hit the spot. We shared two bottles of the Lake Erie Niagara, which was so delicious. If you are into sweet, white wine, this bottle is for you. Samples are $1 each, or you can just go ahead and buy the bottle - $8 to $11. They also have a small gift shop inside. If you are in the area, stop at the vineyard - it's located right off of Route 2, and easy to find. They have a very large sign by the road that you will see right away. read more

Overall I think this winery misses the mark but with a few improvements it could be a great place to gather. The atmosphere is nice here. The night we went there was live music and the fireplace was burning. The wines we ordered were good. However, we ordered a cheese plate and the presentation was awful. It came on a divided plastic picnic plate. The cheese was cut but not displayed. The crackers and shortbread cookies were in their plastic packages. The meat was just pepperoni and it was slapped on the plastic plate in a pile. In my opinion a winery should have a beautifully presented charcuterie board and this was put together like a 3-year old did it. We asked for a flight of their wines to sample but that wasn't an option. We were told we could pick some wine samples and they were $1/wine and came in a plastic Jell-O shot cup. A proper winery should have a white and red flight option. With attention to presentation and detail Paper Moon could be a really nice place but the food and wine sample presentation was seriously lacking. read more

It was't anything special. I don't much drink much wine, so keep all of that mind. I'm not judging them much besides that I found most of their reds too sweet. I went on a wintry Saturday night. Indoors, there's two rooms: one that is much more homey and like a log cabin with the wooden walls. Another, adjacent room has a very large (20+ ft.) ceiling that reminded me of being in an indoor track. In here, there's plastic foldable white tables and chairs to sit and despite the subzero temperatures outside, it was warm and toasty. They also have free water that is self-serve and a small menu of sandwiches. When I ordered the samples at the "bar area" (note this isn't a bar, there's no seating at this bar area). The friendly and responsive server poured my wines into the same glass a few times. It didn't bother me, but oenophiles would likely cringe. Besides wines, there was a sangria and a pink limonade that I believe had wine in it. No beer or liquor if you're not a wine fan. The prices nor the atmosphere is very sophisticated, a glass and a flight of 4-5 was no more than $18. I wouldn't go out of my way to stop here but there's 2-3 other wineries within a few miles in the area so I would stop here if I was doing a wine tour of Lorain County and Northern Ohio. read more

The building and grounds are very nice, the tables are Wine barrels with marble tops. We were the first customers of the day. Upon entering we were welcomed with a smile and greeting. The pumpkin Apple bacon soup is delicious, get it at GFS. The old vine zinfandel went well with it. There's a nice gift shop. Great place for a wedding. Their tastings are 50 cents so really just meant for you to find one you like well enough to purchase a glass of. Upon leaving you'll find a life size sasquatch in the woods on the left. We visit here about every other time we come back to Cleveland to see family. Most wineries in Ohio can make the sweet grape juice wine pretty well, what sets Paper Moon aside from the others is that they also make some good drier wines. If you are a sweet fan, The Harvest Blend is a good wine choice, as is their Niagara. I do not like dry white wine, but they have a carmenere I enjoyed as well as a Zin that was good. Good food selection for a winery. Had an apple/pumpkin soup in the fall that was awesome. Good atmosphere, friendly staff. The tasting pours are a little less generous than other places I've been, but they are also only $.50. read more
