Been here a few times. Last time we went to an art show event they had in September, it was fun. This time we met some friends for some games and wine. They only have a few sweet wines the sweetest being the red dolce. It's fruity and sweet. We like it. They have semi sweet and dry as well. They have a porch/patio and inside are some chairs and tables. They also have a loft area. That's where we went. The place was hoping around 1p on a Sunday when we went. A book club was there and several couples. They also had a coffee tasting from a local grower. The smell of fresh coffee was very overwhelming so we had to try. The service is good. Staff is nice. Prices about average. They have some food and you can bring your own. The issue and unfortunately there was one, was that there were thousands of fruit flies invading the place. I guess they crushed grapes for harvest and the fruit flies are a thing that happens. It was very annoying and obnoxious. Wine, food, and you had to be covered because the flies were on every surface. It was rainy so no outdoor escape on the patio. There are ways to control the flies. Use that blue light to attract them or something. If you want people to sit and drink. Make it easy. Flies are not making it easy. We will go back. But I'll call to make sure flies are gone. read more

Nice but little winery. Was getting crowded when we left. The wine was good. We did flights and some I enjoyed others not so much but that's on me. It's not totally wheelchair friendly. The ramp into the main building has gravel and a van blocking. Then I also can't go to their pavilion or back area cause no access with the chair and I'll get stuck in the grass. A plus is they allow dogs out side but does me No Good since I can't get back there so anyone I go with also can't go there. read more

I didn't care for the wines I chose on the day we visited, but I'm not a wino, so that's not even the reason for my review. I found them to be kind of snooty and unfriendly, which surprised me based on prior reviews. Husband and I were winery hopping with my In laws, includes my father in law who does not drink wine. He begrudgingly tagged along. We had stopped at a more casual winery earlier that had wine slushees which he liked. When we got to Vermilion Valley, we asked if they served them and the lady was shocked and seemed offended. I wish I could remember what she replied with, but it was very 'Pretty woman boutique sales lady' vibes. I get it- maybe that's like ordering a steak umm at Ruth's Chris, but we didn't know. Her behaviour was off putting. There are so many great wineries in the area, this one is just not for us uncultured folk. read more

Cute vineyard with great hospitality! Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and they were moderately busy but still had tables available. Most of their seating is outdoors so something to consider if the weather isn't great. We did the 4 sample tasting for $5 - they offer several dry wines which is nice (especially since Ohio wines tend to be pretty sweet), and their cheese plate! They don't have a ton of food options so I'm don't plan to eat/need a full meal. read more

Stopped in last night to try the wines. We did 2 flights of 4. The flights were only $5 for 4 samples. We tried the top 4 reds and 4 whites. We typically drink reds but we weren't overly thrilled with the reds. They weren't bad but we didn't love them. We did buy 2 bottles, the Oakes Chardonnay and the Pinot Noir (which was our favorite of the reds). We went before the dinner rush so they we not very busy, but the bartender was very friendly and very informative. They have a nice outdoor seating area and picnic tables along the pond area. Not sure if we would go back, merely based on the fact that we weren't blown away with their dry wines, we did not try any of the sweet wines since we don't like the sweeter wines. We stopped in a mini wine tour. The staff was extremely friendly. You can sit inside or outside. The winery is large and spacious. It is very clean. There will be a wine or a cider there that you will enjoy and want to take home. We bought a case of sangria and pear cider. read more

As newbies to the area, we were looking for a place that we can get to know and enjoy. We went on a Saturday night when there was a couple performing folk music, which was great. We enjoyed a bottle of wine outside on the patio while listening to music. We shared a cheese and meat plate, which was very nice, and also a pizza, which we didn't really like. Thanks be to Jehovah! Delicious, complex, well balanced wine! Favorites: Dornfelder - es ist köstlich! Translation: it is delicious! This German grape is dry but not overly harsh, makes a wine with a gorgeous color and a long, satisfying finish. Gewurztraminer - sooooo good! Amazing golden color and perfect consistency. I would drink this everyday for the rest of my life if I could. They also have a delicious Cab, Chardonnay, Cab Franc and Riesling and fruit wines (word of mouth only, fruit wines aren't my thing so I didn't taste any but I smelled them and they smell like heaven). If you're looking for a winery that seems hell bent on producing quality wines with exceptional flavors, head to Vermilion Valley right away. They are definitely the BEST winery in all of W. This was right on the way from our drive to Cuyahoga National Park, so we decided to stop by. We went when it was still pretty chilly outside, so there wasn't any foliage and the outdoors looked bleak and gray. However, the inside of the building was nice, clean, and quaint. We tried the flight of 6 for $5 which was such a good deal! Our favorites were the Dornfelder and Traminette. We ended up getting a glass of the Dornfelder for $6 and a meat & cheese platter. The platter was okay. It was just a variety of deli meats, cubed cheese, a few crackers, and olives. It left something to be desired, and I don't think it was worth $8 for the quality of ingredients. However, we ended up loving the Dornfelder so much that we purchased a bottle of it! The live music and atmosphere was great, especially as it got darker and more people came in. I'd be willing to come here again if I was in the area, perhaps during a warmer season so I could sit outdoors. read more

This winery is awesome! It has a warm welcoming feel and the owners and staff are absolutely amazing! I had my wedding here and I could not have wished for a better place. They were so easy to work with and went above and beyond to make our day so special and it was absolutely perfect! Almost Every guest at my wedding said it was the best wedding they have ever been to because of the overall feel of the place and the people. The setting was so gorgeous that very little decorations were needed. The wine is absolutely amazing! Crisp clean wine that allows you to taste every note, complex flavor and layer without tasting "heavy." There is something for every palate. The winemakers are truly talented! I was so blessed by the staff here and am truly grateful that we found such an amazing place to spend one of the most important days of our lives. read more

Came here for the second time and this winery has consistently exceeded my ohio wines expectations. All wines are sourced from this vineyard and the winemakers are not hesitant to not bottle wine they find inferior. The staff is knowledgeable and laid back (avoid paper moons for this point). So that's the end of my short review. If you're a fan of fruit forward dry to semi-dry red wines along with semi-sweet whites read on... My favorites in order: REDS Dornfelder- blackberry a touch of earth and soft tannins. Round and smooth on the palate. Lemberger- floral bouquet on the nose follows by blueberry jam and cherry. Very approachable. WHITES Gewurtztraminer- lively acidity, semi-sweet and lasting spice on the finish combined with some peach and pear up front. A sure winner for any semi-dry Riesling fans. Muscat ottonel- crisp green apple, semi-sweet with a little tangerine and tropical fruits. read more
