    Harlem

A five-star review when they didn't have what I went there for?…read more This is about the service, not necessarily the store itself. I really had to have a specific product: what? OK, it was the Caran D'ache Grafcube, red tint. There's no place that has this and I *had* to have it *now*, so I checked Blick's website and the store availability checker... In stock in Harlem (only). I'm in Brooklyn but it's a nice bike ride, so on my way... I get there, it's right near the Studio Museum (YES! MY FAVORITE NYC MUSEUM) I find the right aisle, I find the Caran D'ache case which says "Grafcube RGB" - the EMPTY case! The lady who had already offered to help me was still nearby, so I asked her. She checked and the inventory system said there were several in stock. There are overstock cartons above the shelves, labelled with brand or media type. This incredible person (drum roll here...) N'Deye (pronounced En-Day, BTW) reassures me that we'll find them, gets a ladder and starts taking down and going through each obvious carton. When we've exhausted those, she then goes through the non-obvious cartons. We examined about 30 cartons(!) When we cannot find them, she gets a colleague (manager maybe) and he tells her some things to check in the inventory system and they determine that they're not actually in the store (last received over a year ago), maybe stolen. N'Deye then apologized so profusely and sincerely. Hey. at this point I was so touched by all of the attention that had been given, I was fine :) So... disappointing trip...? Let's see Blick stock control: 0 stars Blick location: 4 stars Blick associate N'Deye: 11 stars Other Blick associate (sorry, I didn't get your name): 5 stars Average: (0+4+11+5)/4 = 5 Stars! But really, it's all about N'Deye - Blick management please take notice and recognize this! P.S. I did find the Red Grafcube (YAY*2) as part of a set they had at Janoff's, which I decided to try since I was already 12 miles from home

Like having Blick nearby in Harlem - a great local resource for art supplies!…read more While I'm not a regular shopper there due to my limited needs and their prices, but found they have a good selection and in-store helpful, expertise. Like also their graffiti wall at street level. Recommend you check this Blick out!

He doesn't push any particular choice, but keeps laying out options until we come up with something that works for us. The selection of mouldings and mats is huge and he knows the whole inventory. Getting a piece of art framed and giving it our own touch is an adventure for us, and we've always been very pleased with all the work we've had done by Michael and Frank. Our highest possible recommendation.

We wanted her to be happy and plan the frame and this was closest to her. We waited 10" for customers to complete their order and we walked about to consider frames. After looking at frames, we had ideas. The customers left. I had the poster ready to view on my phone. I asked for help choosing an A2 size frame, moderately priced. Suddenly, the older sales gent went all red in the face and, with significant anger in a very loud voice, said he didn't understand what I wanted. "What A2"? Whaddya mean?" I showed him the piece and said the A2 measurements are right here...and he EXPLODED at me! "I don't need no computers, I don't do that." It was the size of the art I was attempting to show him. Moving away from him, shocked at the torrent of red-faced agita about "A2," we backed away toward the door. Perplexed, astonished. Incredulous, we found our way out of this second floor shop (no AC) and looked at each other. Is this Bellevue north? WTH was THAT we wondered. I concluded? He's nuts, seriously bonkers. This is *way* beyond rude. So. Buster. Work out your problems on a couch because it is NOT OKAY TO YELL. Especially at women. Women, think about this review before visiting.

I was taking back a little because yes you are closed but I'm in the store and I'm a paying customer and your still on the clock ... The manager asked if I checked the bins we checked together and his amazing eyes spotted . The visit wasn't as bad . I got my Order and I got out the store .... Thank you to the young man who open the door idk if your the manager but keep up the amazing customer service

I selected three Make Market permanent vinyls with the intention of purchasing three more under the advertised promotion. When I went to check out, I was told by the manager, Dominique, that the Make Market permanent vinyl was not included in the sale and that she would not honor the promotion. What made this especially frustrating is that the sign clearly says ALL and specifically lists Make Market. I even had a photo of the sign showing the promotion. Instead of professionally explaining why these particular products supposedly did not qualify or checking the advertised signage, I felt Dominique was dismissive and unprofessional in the way the situation was handled. I understand that exclusions can happen, but customers should not be expected to figure out exclusions that are not clearly stated on the advertised sign. If an item or type of vinyl is excluded, the signage should clearly say so. I shop at Michaels for crafting supplies and expected much better customer service, especially from a manager. This experience was extremely disappointing, and I hope Michaels reviews both the promotional signage at this location and how this situation was handled.
