Though in the last two years I just quickly stepped in to view the adorable, glass Christmas ornaments, there's a lot more. It's one of those cozy stores that carry unique gifts such as socks, tumblers, glassware and more. There's even a wall of pet toys and they're adorable. Some items are pricey. The Christmas ornaments are eye catching. Food ornaments seem to be the trend and Wood's Grove carries a wide variety. Of note: I'm all for supporting small businesses however, I tend to shop at more notable stores whose return policy is beyond store credit. I don't know what their return policy is but when I asked an employee about any sales on Small Business Saturday, her response was " we don't do sales". Excuseeeee me. It was just a question! While the children were excitedly showing me items they found, she repeatedly yelled, "I just want some peace and quiet," while covering her ears. She also loudly mocked the song playing in the store, repeating the lyric, "If you ain't got no money, take your broke ass home," in front of us. Her comments and behavior were completely inappropriate, especially around young children who were simply behaving like excited kids in a store. I had every intention of making a purchase, but after witnessing her behavior, I chose not to spend my money there. As we were leaving, I looked in her direction because I was genuinely shocked by how she had acted, and she responded with a rude, "Can I help you?" in a confrontational tone. I have worked with children for years, and I understand they can be energetic. However, they were not being disruptive or disrespectful. Regardless, no customer--especially children--should be treated with such impatience, hostility, or disrespect. This was some of the worst customer service I have experienced. An employee, particularly someone in a management position, should be held to a much higher standard of professionalism. I hope this incident is taken seriously and addressed appropriately, as this behavior reflects very poorly on your business. I will not be returning or recommending this store based on this experience.

I've been to this location many times without any issues but my last visit was rife with problems. I bought an item that was supposed to have been 30% off plus as a premium member I was supposed to get an additional 10% off, so a total of 40% off. I left the store with receipt in hand and double checked the price. I noticed that the deductions were done incorrectly. The item rang up at a higher price than was marked on the item. Also as a premium member I was supposed to get the discount of the additional 10% off of my item. A woman who was working by the wrapping paper area asked if I needed help because she noticed that I just left and re-entered the store. She was the only Saving Grace, of the employees that worked that day because of her attentiveness and genuine kindness. I told her about the incorrect pricing and she told a man who was by the register the issue. I was met by him with disdain and an attitude. He was visibly annoyed that I needed assistance. He couldn't figure out the math in his head, didn't use the register to help him fix the issue, then after a while, went into his wallet, and gave me the money I was owed with an insult about how much it was that he had to give me. He treated me as though I was the problem. I also had an issue with the young woman who originally rang me up because I told her 3 times that I am a premium member and should receive 10% off of my purchase. That particular day premium members would receive a free small notebook as a bonus which were by the registers. She claimed that I was not a premium member, even though I am one. She was extremely dismissive and refused to give me what I was entitled to 10% off and a free small bonus notebook. I just went into a Barnes and Noble today 12/22/2025 and inquired about my membership. They confirmed that I do in fact have an active premium membership until October of 2026.

I typically get red envelopes with the zodiac animal for the new year, a lantern, wall and/or door hangs, lucky charms for family or friends whose year it is, and some hanging decorations for tree branches. They have an excellent selection of traditional and modern new year trinkets. They even have small selection red envelopes and wall decorations in Vietnamese. The prices are reasonable. You can probably find them cheaper at the vendors of the street but you won't be able to find it all as well-curated as it is in this shop! Fair warning though if you get the lanterns, they don't come with instructions so you better take a photo of the fully assembled lantern before you leave the store.

A lot of other Five Below stores tend to look the same and feel like they're missing half the inventory this one didn't have that problem at all. One thing to note: if you're coming in with bags, you'll need to check them with security before shopping. You're not allowed to walk around the store with your own bags, which is different from most other Five Below locations but honestly, it's a small trade-off for how good this store is. Definitely one of the better Five Below locations in Brooklyn.

I've dropped by their locations to pick up a drink or snack since they are more reasonably priced than many cafes and convenience stores in the neighborhood, though their snack/food prices are a little higher than going to an Asian grocery. In general these type of stores there's not a lot of staff interaction though I will say this one had someone welcoming at the door. The reason for a slightly lower rating though is since there seems to be a proliferation of these stores that provide kinda useful things but really are close to single use and create a lot of unnecessary trash (I'm looking at you Five Below and fast fashion). These are easy and cheap conveniences and entertainment, though I question the environmental impact. Of course I'm not speaking from a place above reproach, I'm surely a contributor to this as well, it's just been on my mind recently.
