Went to grab a birthday present for a friend and typically don't mind spending a couple extra dollars to get the gift wrapped as they advertised but was met with less than enthusiastic service and they told me "they weren't going to be able to wrap my present" with little to no explanation- I feel like without the wrapping service it's not worth the markup of the gifts. Yay! A Paper Source in Queen Anne. No, I'm not being sarcastic. I love specialty paper stores. They just opened and I'm happy! Dazzled by: selection of wrapping papers, cards, stampers, stencils Less dazzled by: selection of Origami papers, Mylar paper, PRICES. Well, it's a specialty shop, so I guess I can't complain too much about the prices, but they are steep (oops I notice I just complained about it - twice). Employees are attentive and helpful, store layout refreshingly open and airy. I like the snack selection too. My favorite thing: wrapping paper that looks like old maps. Welcome to Queen Anne! I love shopping in this store for gifts and stationary items. The staff is always so willing to help and the store carries such great items. I would say that many times this store carries items that are great for gifting. Every holiday they have tables set for that specific item and it makes shopping so much easier. I love coming in this store and it makes me so happy to shop here. The only downfall is that the items are pretty pricey so you have to watch your cart to make sure you don't overspend. read more

Like some of the other reviewers I have mixed feelings about this shop. It's a very nice store. They have a very large selection of pastel and jewel tone colored blank cards and matching envelopes that could be used as personal stationary or for wedding invitations. The selection takes up an entire wall. Because the stationary is blank and the cards come in different sizes you can use it for many purposes. You can make your own greeting cards or personalize cards for your specific occasion. They also have beautiful individual sheets of gift wrap which are heavy quality and hand made. I have to agree with the other reviews, this is a great place to get ideas. I did buy some basic stationary supplies which I will use to make my own greeting cards. But when I was done shopping I really just wanted to go to Jo Anne Fabrics or Michael's to get the rest of my supplies. Those stores have a much bigger selection of things to decorate your cards with and they're much less expensive. read more

I've shopped here several times. The customer service is not the greatest, in my opinion. It's hit or miss depending on who is working that day. One day you show up wanting a few helium balloons to take home and it's no problem. Another time, you're told they are out of helium and will be for the next few days. Also, this place is pretty overpriced. I don't think they think the QA community minds. I wouldn't mind either if I was actually supporting a local business. I love paper products. My boyfriend hates taking me to paper stores because I wander around collecting things in my arms for what seems like hours. ...Ok, sometimes it really IS hours. ...He could probably have dinner and come back and I'd still be looking at things. The lady who helped me (sorry, don't remember her name!) was super nice, never pushy, and helped point out things I never would've thought about. Like how you can't print on shiny envelopes without smearing (use a sharpie instead). I love their sales sections as there's always something super adorable that I can horde until the next holiday. Today was my first visit to this store, and I couldn't be happier with the customer service I received. I went in looking for a gift for my mum. I had no idea what I wanted to get. A sales person (I think her name was Catie) chatted with me and ended up giving me some great ideas for things to make. She made lots of suggestions without feeling pushy and she paid attention to what made the most sense for me. I chatted with a few other people working there and left feeling really pleased with the whole experience. I recommend this store to anyone. I love all of the products Paper Source has to offer and I always get compliments from friends and family on the pretty gift wrap I purchase there. I live in the neighborhood and stop by often for gifts, cards and gift wrap. Lately the customer service has been awful. The girls at the register are rude and don't even bother to ask for my email address and act like it's a burden if I need a bag for the handful of small items I'm buying. I'm not sure if I was earning points for coming in frequently or not but they always used to ask and I got a great coupon at Christmas that I was excited about. There was a super nice man that was working there for awhile but I haven't seen him on my last few visits. Tonight I asked if I could set my basket on the counter and right in front of me the petite woman with dark hair just past her shoulders yelled for another associate to come and sanitize the basket. It would just be a little more professional if that was done after the transaction was complete and the customer stepped away from the counter in my opinion. My boyfriend pointed out that I could buy all of the stuff I get at Paper Source at the Bartell's across the street and I think I might just take my business there. Cuter wrapping paper and cards aren't worth poor customer service. I hope the manager sees this and can provide training so they can avoid losing more customers. read more

When they say customer service.... They mean it. My husband and I started looking at invite books for our wedding. We had NO plans to buy something unless it was a DIY project. Well, Windy helped us so much that we found the perfect invites and we were instantly in love with them. She worked endless hours to ensure they were perfect and made the whole experience feel like a friend instead of the manager of a store. The font was perfect, the color was to die for and they were better than our wildest dreams! After we sent the wedding invites out, I went back to her to find a seal for our envelopes. She informed me that if we did do the specific seal we wanted that we would have to buy extra postage for each envelope due to the weight. I really appreciated that since weddings are expensive enough as it is. We found a perfect alternative and she even taught me how to use each thing I would need. We also got custom labels from her as well for our gift boxes, they were perfect and she even did a proof for me before they were actually printed. They have the coolest gifts/fun things to browse and you are encouraged to take your time and just have fun! Bottom line.... if you have any paper needs, make this your first stop. Trust me. The staff here are really wonderful. I've been in twice so far and both times, they dropped what they were doing to see if I needed help. Today, I was helped with brainstorming envelope ideas for some wedding invitations I'm making. Though they didn't have exactly what I was looking for (I was really hoping there were vellum style mailing envelopes as I've seen online) we came up with a good backup plan. They also helped me find white ink pens, and embossing materials. My complaint is that for being a "paper source", they don't really have a great selection on paper for stationary, scrap booking, or creating your own paper projects. You know what I mean? I can walk into a Michael's, Ben Franklin's, or Joanne Fabrics and go nuts in their scrapbooking section because of all the pretty papers (including letter and card sized options), pen choices, stickers, etc. You won't find Paper Source as a good resource for any of that. What you will find are small packs of a fairly limited variety of solid-color paper and envelopes, gift-type things, pretty tissue papers, some paper embellishing products like embossing powers and etc. We have a lot of art stores in Seattle, but not any that specialize in stationary type paper, nor do we have any legit "craft" stores nearby. Kind of a bummer because that means my project is going to need to be put off until the weekend. read more

Pricey but wow, what a selection of beautiful things! I'll admit when they first opened on Queen Anne I found myself wishing that it had been a fun new restaurant instead of a paper store, but yesterday when I found myself needing some creative/high quality packaging last minute for a client meeting I was sure thankful to have Paper Source so close. The staff was SUPER helpful, gave me ideas I hadn't even thought of, and set me up at a table to assemble the folder that I needed for my meeting. The prices on some things were a bit higher than I thought necessary but other things were pretty decent. I will definitely be back. read more

Ah-maz-ing! Holy cow I'm so glad this store is up on the hill. At first I was shy about heading in, figured it was just another card store with a rude staff. Boy was I wrong. They're friendly, helpful, awesome, and it's nice to be able to just browse without having a salesperson lurking over your shoulder. I've bought more things here since they've opened then I care to admit to. Hello floral wreath and holiday garland I made myself, I'm talking about you! From fancy knick knacks (yes those reindeer juice glasse I bought are probably listed in that category) to fun crafts that make you feel like a Martha Stewart in your own home this place is great! If you want to impress and have people go "YOU made that?" Or if you want to just show yourself you can do it, make it, and have it look awesome then this store is for you. I could wander around this store all day. They have an amazing selection of cards that take up almost the entire left wall of the store. I love a good thank you note and every time I give one from Paper Source I get compliments...the beautifulness of their cards helps distract from my terrible handwriting. Great range of gifts and holiday decorating type items, too. The staff is always nice and they are dog friendly. The only thing that keeps me from giving Paper Source 5 stars is how expensive it is. Yikes, am I the only one that thinks $17.95 for ten cards is pricey? Luckily they have bundles of blank cards under $10 that aren't packaged which drives down the cost. I'm running low on thank you cards and will be back soon! read more
