She did not receive a room until Saturday morning! That's right 3 whole days to get a room when you have a life threatening health issue. This is simply not acceptable, and no where near good health practice! Something is seriously wrong at this hospital. Can something be done? She was left in the hallway for hours outside an ER room before she was finally put in a tiny windowless room in the ER and later transferred to an even smaller room in some sort of "holding area." She could not rest or sleep which probably damaged her weak heart even more. This is not acceptable care, and is especially poor care for those in a life threatening situation. This needs to be fixed immediately. If this hospital is too busy to house patients properly they need to let patients know so they can go to another hospital to get a room and proper care. This seems to have been going on for several years now at this hospital as we had a very similar experience with my father several years ago. Do not go to the ER at this hospital unless you want to wait 3 days for a room!

I was scheduled for my first colonoscopy on April 11, 2024 after a positive Cologuard test. (As an aside: I super did not want a colonoscopy, so I opted for the at-home Cologuard, which requires pooping in a big plastic jar and then mailing it to a lab. I had to do this TWICE, because the first one didn't have "enough DNA" and then I *still* had to have a colonoscopy. I guess what I'm saying is all of this having an aging ass stuff is very terrible and no fun.) Anyhow, since I'm not big on getting covid, especially since I had it once already and it sucked, Greg and I wore face masks to the outpatient facility where I was scheduled for my appointment. I was extra glad we did when an older woman in the very crowded waiting room kept coughing wetly without covering her mouth. Anyhow, when I was taken to the back, I asked Valerie, the nurse who was assisting me, if she would wear one and she immediately put one on. She also kindly offered to ask everyone on my care team so I wouldn't have to, which I really appreciated. Everyone else wore one and everything was fine until we wheeled into the procedure room, where she asked Dr. Sateesh to wear a mask for me and he flipped out. He asked why, demanded to know if I had an immune disease, paced around like he was pissed off, and said it was a ridiculous request. He seemed to think it was especially egregious of me because he already had to wear a mask during the procedure, though that seems like it would make it less of a big deal since he would just be putting one on a few minutes early. What do I know though, I'm just a normal human being who doesn't try to terrify naked people about to be heavily sedated and have tubes shoved up their ass by strangers. At this point, freaked out at the thought that he might jam a colonoscope inside of me like he was angrily trying to feed coax cable into a wall, I called off the procedure. This really upset him. He loomed over me, continuing to try to argue and telling me that it didn't make sense to cancel since I'd already done the prep. And in fact, I'd spent $250 out of pocket for Sutab, gone without food for 36 hours, and spent more than 12 hours shitting my brains out. I had a pounding headache, was completely dehydrated, and was literally shaking from how upset I was, yet there was NO FUCKING WAY I was letting that man touch my nether regions. I kept telling him I didn't want him as my doctor and didn't want to talk to him anymore. He just would not shut up and leave me alone. He eventually slapped on a surgical mask and said, "It doesn't matter because I have a beard anyways!" I'm still not sure if he thought that would make me change my mind about having the procedure. It was truly a surreal experience. Finally, one of the nurses asked if she should have me get dressed and he responded "get her out of this room." Valerie wheeled me back to recovery, called Greg, and I got the hell out of there. All in all, I would give 0 stars if possible but it's not an option. If it tells you anything about what a supreme jerk he is, one of his own colleagues filed an incident report with Corewell Health Patient Relations before I could do so. (I sent an email after they called me the next day, but they haven't responded since then. Of course!) I also reported him to the Michigan State Medical Board. I hope he gets hemorrhoids and ass crabs.

The front reception area is well kept. The have the new kiosks for signing in, which was the first time I had used one. Tamela at the front desk is very nice and even asked those waiting in the lobby if they wanted coffee (except of course for those of us there for a procedure). When I went into the clinic, Michelle the check-in nurse was professional and friendly. She made me very comfortable even when she was inserting my catheter for my anesthesia. The anesthesiologist (I think her name was Kendra) came in an introduced herself and went over what she would be doing. My doctor, Heidi Gjersoe, next came in and we discussed the entire EGD. I was then rolled into the procedure room, given anesthesia, and the next thing I knew I was back in the recovery room. The discharge nurse checked all my vitals, Dr. Gjersoe came back in to go over my procedure, and I was discharged all within a couple of hours. And felt very good and had no adverse reaction to either the anesthesia or the procedure. I would recommend Bronson Gastroenterology in Portage. They put the patient first and foremost. Thank you for taking excellent care of me.
