So I was to tired to thirsty and way to hungry to waste a moment to take a picture but here goes…read more Now, if you've ever found yourself wandering through Waynesville with a hollow leg and a thirst that'd make a camel quit, you could do a whole lot worse than pulling up a chair at Hopper's Pub. It's the kind of joint where the atmosphere is thicker than a Sunday morning fog and the hospitality is warmer than a radiator in July. Since we're right there in the shadow of the fort, you'll find yourself rubbing elbows with all sorts of folks. They say you ought to eat where the locals eat, but in a military town, "local" is a relative term--most everybody there is from somewhere else, and they're all just passing through on Uncle Sam's dime. But at Hopper's, for an hour or two, everybody's treated like they grew up right down the street. If f you're looking for a cold beer, Hopper's has their own house brew on tap that's colder than a mother-in-law's stare. It's a sports bar in the truest sense--wall-to-wall TV screens making sure you don't miss a single down or a checkered flag. When there's a car show in town or a big game on, the place gets livelier than a porch dog with a new bone. Speaking of dogs there is a semi-permanent guest that stops by name of Norman. Pet him and you will have a friend for life. They aren't feeding birds here, friend. We're talking Burgers and fries of with tons of flavor. Sliders, cheesesteaks and wings, make sure you got extra napkins. I am not sure why but I think he also have vegetarian options. The staff is politer than a deacon on Sunday. They're attentive, friendly, and they treat travelers like they've lived in Waynesville their whole lives. Keep in mind they are pumping out a ton of adult beverages and food. A cold beer and a good burger are worth a five minute wait. Whether you're just passing through or you're a "local" who's only been in town since your last PCS, Hopper's is a solid bet for a good time and a full belly. It's family-friendly, high-energy, and highly recommended. And if you happen to be there when they break out the Bingo, hold onto your hat. They've got a unique set of calls and responses that'll frighten and amaze you the first time you hear 'em--it's somewhere between a drill sergeant's cadence and a tent revival, and it's worth the price of admission just to witness the spectacle.

Lots of crafts beers, the menu was ok, the food was good, not as many items to pick from. It wasn't…read moreas busy on a Wednesday evening which was good, lots of military and route 66 memorabilia. Not far from Fort Leonardwood, I hear is a favorite for locals in the area.

My husband and I came in the evening of the wine festival and the restaurant was really busy. We…read moregot seated fairly quickly but some parties after us weren't quite as lucky. We were warned that because they were so busy that the kitchen was backed up and we would have a longer than normal wait for our food, but that didn't bother us as we were enjoying an evening out and had had a pretty big lunch earlier in the day, so we weren't starving. It wasn't an exceptionally long time before our food was brought out. My husband had the bacon jam salmon over garlic mash and I had the bruschetta chicken with rosemary fingerlings. Both meals were incredible. It's hard to believe that this unassuming little restaurant in Warsaw had better food than most of the high-end places we've eaten at in Kansas City and other cities. The presentation was beautiful as well. Christian, our server, was polite and attentive. Two Michelin-star quality entrees w/sides, two glasses of wine, and incredibly all for well under $100 including a 25% tip. I highly recommend The Landing for anyone looking for great food in Warsaw. If/when we take another lake trip, we'll be back. We've even discussed that this might be worth a special trip from KC just for a meal alone! Yes, it's that good that we'd actually consider a nearly 4 hour round trip to come back!

Had dinner tonight and couldn't have been more disappointed. I asked about the special and although…read moreit sounded delicious, it was way too much food and the price was $68 so I opted for the Ortega burger with a side of Mac & Cheese. 56 minutes later I was served my dinner. My server told me 3 different times that "yours is the next one up", the first time being 22 minutes prior to being served and while the restaurant was busy, it wasn't standing room only and by the time I was served it was more than half empty. The Mac & Cheese was extremely bland and I didn't eat very much at all. My server recognized my frustration and offered a voluntary discount on my dinner. She discounted 2 of my 3 beers that I had while waiting although I didn't drink my 3rd one. I've had much better experiences at this establishment but after tonight, it is no longer my favorite place to dine in Warsaw!!!!
