I regret to inform my readers that today Par28 in Salem, NH lost my business forever. We showed up on time for our 1:00 PM reservation, and we weren't settled at the bay until 1:15 PM. Someone was clearly uncomfortable telling the group in our bay to leave, and we ended up paying for it. As many of reviews have already noted, we paid for two hours and were hustled out the door at 3:00 PM sharp. Thankfully the three of us are competent golfers and were able to finish our round, but we were undeniably robbed of 15 minutes and the staff couldn't have cared less. If this were the only issue I would not have felt the need to write a review. 2 hours of golf, 1 pizza, and 4 beers came out to $275. I understand that inflation is a factor, but many local simulators have better technology at a better price. The layout is poor, there is little to no privacy, and the staff was constantly walking through our seating area. I respect service industry workers and I thought the staff at Par28 was pleasant enough. With that said, in no world should I be prompted to tip on the food and beverage PLUS the golf. So instead of tipping 20% on 1 pizza and 4 beers, which I would've done happily, I was prompted to tip 20% on $140 in simulator fees + the pizza and beer. As mentioned, our waiter(s) were pleasant, but not pleasant enough to make out with a kings ransom. Lastly, I am no aquarist but the shark that's occupying 90% of their tanks volume was an unsurprisingly disappointing end to my final visit. If you'd like to watch an adolescent tiger shark navigate a tupperware container, look no further. It's a nothing shy of an aquatic tragedy, and it's one that should be monitored closely by the New Hampshire Department of Fish and Wildlife. The pizza is good, the bar is usually busy, and many people seem to enjoy this place. We got screwed on the tip and we got screwed out of 15 minutes of golf - but as I mention in all of my reviews, I encourage future patrons of Par28 to come to their own conclusions. The pizza and food is fantastic.. when they are not holding events. When an event occurs, the kitchen is overwhelmed, food comes out way too slow.. and the pizza is generally soggy and undercooked ( even though I asked for well done). One visit this month, I waited 30 minutes for a ceaser salad and an additional 45 minutes for a pizza which was way too thin, uncooked in the middle. The wait staff was very apologetic, comped us the pizza and gave us a gift card . We returned again this weekend, there was another large function and the 3 pizzas we ordered were an hour later than promised (we waited) and the first 2 were done about 15 minutes before the 3rd. And sure enough 2 out of the 3 were undercooked. Not going back, just way too inconsistent. read more

We recently visited Par 28 in Salem, NH- We had a great afternoon at Par 28. We played a round of golf, and enjoyed a few apps and pizza. The service was great and incredibly helpful. It was our first time with the simulator and they walked us right through. For apps, we ordered the pretzel bites, the wings, and the steak and cheese egg rolls. All were hot and fresh and came out quick. The pizza was great- highly recommend the Buffalo Chicken. All in all a great day, and would highly recommend for a work outing or just a group of friends. read more

If you are in to golf and can't wait till spring, come here and rent a bay bring 3 of your friends. Had so much fun and the hour went by way too fast. They have different clubs in the bay or you can bring your own. Plenty of different style courses to pick from. You can order food and drinks right in golfing area. Let me start this off by saying I'm always open to trying new things but after coming here for the first time, It makes me wanna reconsider even going out. By far the worst service I've ever experienced. Got there and waited about 20 minutes for someone to even acknowledge we were there. After finally getting our drinks (1 round) no one ever came back over. It seemed like if you weren't doing the golf simulator and slicing golf balls into the simulated trees you weren't a priority. UPDATE: After only eating only one slice of burnt pizza from the previous day, I was hungry and wanted pizza for dinner and was going to reheat some of the Sausage Ricotta Pizza, but I flipped over the pizza which was too charred and burnt to be consumed. I decided to call down to Par 28 and informed a team member about the burnt pizza and I was returning it and requested they remake it. I drove 14 miles down to Par 28 with the burnt pizza from the day before and showed the staff. They were mortified and very apologetic. They already made my replacement pizza, and slid it into the coal fired oven after I arrived. The staff on duty was completely different from the day before. The bartender gave me some ice water as I waited for the new Sausage & Ricotta Pizza to be hot, ready and boxed up. The general manager could not refund my prepaid Spoton online order (third party out of their control) from the day before, but he gave me a $25 gift card for my next visit which I will definitely use very soon. As for the replacement pizza, I checked it before leaving and the bottom of the thin crust was not burnt, yet firm, flimsy towards the center from the weight of the toppings and crispy on the edges with slight char, and topped with plenty of pomodoro sauce, soft ricotta cheese, red peppers, ground sausage, basil and mozzarella cheese. The pizza I can say was excellent this time and I am glad I let the staff know that the pizza could get burnt, especially in a fire oven, if not careful and watchful. After hearing great things about this place from my coworker who lives in Salem, I stopped in at Par28 (old Coca Cola building) for happy hour (Wed-Fri 3pm to 6pm) when apps and drinks are half priced. Par28 offers indoor simulated golf, and axe throwing plus Rae's Coal Fired Pizza (and bar) which offers a variety of coal fired pizzas, appetizers, salads, paninis and cold Coke drinks. There are high top tables around the U-shaped bar (with seating too) offering several beers on tap, wine list and mixed drinks. There are 6 flat screen TVs all around the bar and smaller flat screens at the 7 golf simulator stations, fish tank, and a TouchTunes digital jukebox. There is also a back room seating area near the 8 axe throwing stations, great for parties. Since I was hungry, I ordered an ice water and two appetizers including the Giant Meatball (normally $14) with Garlic Butter Crostini and Spinach & Artichoke Dip (normally $14) with tortilla chips. The appetizers were served 15 minutes later, both the Giant Meatball and Spinach & Artichoke Dip in personal casserole dishes were served very hot out of the oven. The Giant Meatball was very dense smothered in a thick hearty marinara sauce and topped with melted mozzarella and some sauce in the dish. I used the very buttery garlic crostini (5 slices) to dip. The Spinach & Artichoke Dip was very rich with lots of cheese, spinach & artichokes. The crunchy corn tortilla chips were salty and I used those to dip as well. I barely finished the two appetizers and got the check which was discounted to $15.20 with tax and before tip. Overall, the appetizers were very filling and the service was adequate at the bar since it wasn't very busy. I also placed an online order for later on for a coal fired pizza, the Sausage Ricotta ($22 plus tax). I watched the kitchen staff make pizzas from the bar earlier and saw the pizza dough being hand stretched and topped before placing into the charcoal fire oven. My pizza was ready and boxed 20 minutes after ordering. The pizza was topped with good amounts of toppings including Pomodoro sauce, ground sausage, red peppers, soft ricotta cheese, basil, and mozzarella cheese on top of a thin soft crust. However, as expected from the coal fire, the bottom of the pizza was charred in spots, but three of the slices were black (burnt) underneath. I've had coal fired pizzas from Anthony's several times, which is charred in small spots on the bottom and edges, but not burnt. The novelty of Ax Throwing was entertaining and enjoyed by the group and that's the only positive comment i would give. The place seems to be very disorganized and the atmosphere lacks any semblance of an entertainment establishment. Dark and dis-arrayed seems to be their motif. With a one hour of throwing booked, it took over10 mins into the time and still no explanation or guidance. Finally Mss Bubbly chimes in and conveys the rules and explanations. We were a bit early and we were hoping for some palatable fare. The Garlic Knots were actually Garlic Croissants and the Pizza was thin crust, scorched on the bottom, blah pie... clearly not their forte. We were moved from our seating area to accommodate a larger group, which was okay, but what a difference in service for that group. Bottom line... clearly a very young and inexperienced staff from start to finish. The icing on the cake... the service was so bad and the such a let down ... after a bill of over $330 for 6 people ( 2 lanes for 1 hour) and several beers... i felt no tip was deserved, but, then to get a call from someone wondering why I didn't leave a tip... are you kidding... a gratuity is earned....not entitled.... No help getting started. Had to wait 5 min for someone to come over. 10 minutes late getting us started so we only played for 45 min but got charged the full hour of $70.00 which was too expensive. The bays are so close to the kitchen and bar that you can barely focus on golfing. It is more like a dark pinball arcade. Food was okay. Just okay but not great. I would not suggest trying to eat and golf as the table is just too small. The Caesar salad was wet lettuce drenched in Mayo topped with a thin chicken cutlet that HAD to be from a Tyson grilled chicken bag.
