I play Hickory Hill Golf Course a few times annually and have always enjoyed the course. It is…read morealways in terrific shape and was indeed the last time I played a few weeks ago. The course is a good length, not too long and not too short. There are some challenging holes especially on the back nine. It is a fun public course. All golf employees including the pro shop, the starter, and the dreaded rangers have been helpful and cordial. The clubhouse offers a number off lunch items. It is clean and the servers have been pleasant. The only negative I have is their requiring full payment a day before the reserved tee time. Most courses ask for a credit card to hold the tee time but do not charge until check in the day of play allowing all players to pay themselves. If I reserve a foursome I have to instruct them to either contact the pro shop to pay their slot, otherwise I end up having to chase my fellow players for reimbursement as my card is charged. It's a headache. Hickory Hill is a very nice public golf course for golfers of all levels.

I ended up getting the Western Omelet which is essentially eggs with vegetables. It came with a side and I asked if vegetables were available only to be told beans? I got the potatoes and a side of sausage to go with the omelet. Not to say it was a bad experience, but the healthier options are definitely lacking. The coffee was good. My brother enjoyed his Bloody Mary which seemed very popular as I watched the bartender make endless of these for patrons.

Fairways were cut pretty tight but were patchy and burned out. Its a sub standard layout on which high handicappers will lose a dozen balls per round.

The fairways and especially the greens were in great shape. Some tee boxes are in need of some work. There is a lot of water on the course, check out hole 8, and plenty of sand traps. The traps were inconsistent. Some had plenty of sand to make a play out of, while many were filled with pebbles, stones, and had a hard base making it difficult to get the club through the ball. On a Sunday mid-morning where you might expect a slow round on a public course, we finished in around 4.5 hours, and it didn't seem that long. The ranger was out and about making sure groups were moving along. There was a beverage cart on the course for "hydration". The staff was friendly. The starter gave us a few hints as to what to expect with this being our first time. It was a fun round and I would surely return.
