We tried this service once with the new owner, Mr. Lepak, and was unhappy with the way he conducts business. Some of our regular buyers were not happy either with the 10% Buyer's Premium they were charged.. He was quite rude to our staff and rude with the buyers at the auction. Since then we have not used his service. Mr. Lepak keeps sending us emails threatening us to use his services or he will have to report us to the State of Hawaii. Which he did. We obtained our auctioneer license (which was a very easy process) so we would no longer have to deal with Mr. Lepak. Mr. Lepak continues to harass us and his way of doing business is to intimidate and bully businesses into using him. My advice.....obtain your auction license for $100 with the State of Hawaii and get a bond for $500 as required by the state. The whole process takes less than 4 hours. The Original Paradise Auction was started by my dad, Mike Schmidt. In April 2011, My dad sold the company to AC Demello LLC because he was terminally ill and needed the money for medical bills. He was nice enough to let them put a down pmt and pay the balance within one year, by April 2012. Because of my love for the business I wanted to remain with the company. I tried to teach them everything I knew about the business, but they "knew it all" when really, they didn't know anything! They were extremely rude to me so I left the company in August, just 4 mos later. Since then, I have heard numerous complaints from former customers who got "ripped off". Not only that but they still owe my mother for the purchase, a fairly large balance that was supposed to be paid within one year, My dad passed away in April 2012, before he died he was worried that they wouldn't pay. It's been almost 2 years! My mother had to get a lawyer, still didn't receive the money owed for the sale of Paradise Auction. They ran the business into the ground with their greedy ways. Putting reserves on items that didn't have one, I mean hello....? At auction, you don't make money if you dont sell. If you put a reserve or "minimum" price on everything, nothing will sell. It is a shame that they tarnished the reputation that my dad had worked so hard for. A previous customer of Paradise Auction who admired my dad (Mike Schmidt) decided to start his own Auction Co. and asked me to come aboard because of my years of expertise. I was hesitant at first, because of how AC Demello treated me but seeing his passion and hearing how he wanted to keep it the same as my dad convinced me to give it a try. Our first Auction was in November, 2013 I am so glad I am back at it again, I really missed it. I felt I had to write something here because of the fact that they gave people a bad taste in their mouth with the way they ran the company. They are heartless, cruel and cold. Congrats to the new owners of Paradise Auction!!! . They sent out an email tonight "CC" with their ENTIRE "Private" email list of clients .....some 250 of them (including my own private address) Now I have everyones address in their database. And they have mine. I can hardly wait for some enterprising individuals to get ahold of this trove of PRIVATE information and start emailing me & everyone else on the "long list" with their own messages trying to sell me fake prescription drugs, viagra and Hot Stock tip alerts & god knows what. Thats GREAT news ! ...... I felt I was not getting my fair share of Spam lately ..... well you fixed that one! .... with a push of the button ..... thanks. . Lets see ..... 250 Private email addresses sent out to 250 unknown recipients = 62,500 copies of email information.... HOW MANY potential new friends for me ? ..... Honestly, I am overjoyed with This stuff . It is like letting a three old drive the family car. . When you want to "PROTECT & PRESERVE" your customers (formerly) PRIVATE information ..... you send it : "BCC" (BLIND CARBON COPY) .... "BCC" (everyone gets the email, but they do not see everyone else's PRIVATE email addresses) . NOT "CC" !!!!! (CARBON COPY) to everyone. EVERYONE sees ALL OF THE "formerly" PRIVATE email addresses all 250 of them!!!! THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE .... HELLO ???? ...... IS ANYBODY IN THERE AT ALL ?????? . I think I will refrain from auctions from now on. I have enough stuff already anyway. I suppose now that I have the mailing list I could even start my own business someday. .
