Beautiful little resort located on Kaneohe Bay. Each room and cottage at the resort has a kitchen with most everything you need to cook meals during your vacation rather than go out to eat. The resort has a pool, access to kayaks, a snorkel tour (costs extra and is worth it), paddle boards, yoga, and a laundry facility. The employees here are welcoming, hard-working, and respectful. We really appreciated the help we got from Pua during our stay. We were disappointed that management left Pua alone to handle several guests on a night when housekeeping did not do their jobs. You guys need to get on top of housekeeping so guests can have clean towels and sheets, and not rely on your front desk staff to handle everything. Pua is a champ and washed everything for us herself meanwhile still dealing with other guests throughout the night. This is the second time my family and I have stayed here at the resort. The first time we stayed in one of the larger cottages on the bay in 2022, which was spectacular. The second time we stayed here, we were in one of the bottom floor rooms facing the street, which was less spectacular due to the lack of views and fans in the rooms but was still a great deal for the price and we enjoyed the resort amenities. I recommend you guys put fans in these rooms so that it isn't so stuffy, the a/c in the living was great and cooled the place down but it is not ideal to leave your bedroom door open all night due to wanting privacy from other family members. Other than that, the rooms were clean and the spaces much larger and cheaper than any of the resorts you'll find in Waikiki. We will definitely be back as we enjoy the slower pace and more isolated location of this resort on the bay. Plus we had kids with us and they loved their stay too!

This resort is actually hidden in a neighborhood. Kind of interesting to see where it was located. Got lost and confused while searching for the property. Finally figured it out and checked in immediately. Our room was ready at 3pm, which was across the street in a separate building. It didn't feel like part of the resort, but we had a view of the ocean. We were greeted by Pua in front desk. So friendly with aloha vibes! She assisted us with all of our needs, which made our stay more enjoyable. We had the two bedrooms suite. Full kitchen to cook your meals saving money from eating out. Our unit didn't feel as cleaned and was outdated. We encountered a few issues, but it was taken care of. Lesley also helped us the next day with the situation we had. So warming without any hesitation to accommodate us. Awesome staff made up for the negatives. The resort property itself was amazing. Floating docks where you can relax overlooking the ocean and mountains. First time experiencing this kind of scenery at a resort. Very unique and different. Kids loved the pool, but could use a little more lighting at night as it was a bit dark. Nice to see the stars while swimming made it so magical. Live music was performed nightly by Danny who was a very talented nice musician. Banana bread, fruits, and coffee were served daily for breakfast. Light but refreshing easily enjoying it in the lobby while you embrace the beauty of scenery. So relaxing best way to start your day. I'm glad I had booked this resort as my stay to get away from busy Waikiki. So peaceful felt like a real vacation in Hawaii.

First resort we stayed at on our trip and it was a nice introduction to the Hawaiian culture before we could check into our resort on Waikiki. The resort is very secluded, and is quiet and tranquil. It's nestled within an authentic "lived in" residential neighborhood street so follow your GPS closely. Parking at the resort is tight so have your parking skills at the ready! There's no restaurant on property but you can order DoorDash from local businesses or if you have a car, drive over to the nearby towns for food. They offer yoga, kayaking, and paddle boarding activities as part of the resort fee but make sure you reserve what you want to do as soon as possible. We waited too late to decide what we wanted to do and was not able to take advantage of the resort activities. The room we had was a decent sized 2 king bed suite but was starting to show its age. I personally wasn't a fan of the dark slate tile in the bathroom as it would be hard to clean or know if it actually was. The AC worked wonderfully as did the TV. Our room had a kitchenette in it but other than the coffee maker, we didn't use anything else. The balcony was nice and faced the mountain/tropical landscape. The local birds in the trees in the early morning hours were noisy as well as the wild chickens and roosters but a wonderful way to wake up in Hawaii. I love all animals so they didn't bother me one bit. I enjoyed drinking my morning coffee on the balcony listening to them. Overall, this is a vintage resort that still has charm. The resort staff are very friendly and helpful. They offer complimentary banana bread, fresh whole fruits, coffees and tea in the mornings. If you're looking to stay away from the tourist areas on Oahu then this is the place for you. Mahalo!

We added one night at Paradise Bay Resort somewhat last minute to decrease driving but I really wished we stayed here longer to enjoy the bay and activities. The views were amazing. My teens loved the pool. Only downside is the walls are fairly thin and it's easy to hear noisy people.

The lobby is absolutely gorgeous with a breathtaking view but the room was lackluster. Quite old & dated, ceiling and floors were really dusty and gross. When it rained, worms came out of the shower. We saw a cockroach skitter across the living room one night. 3/4 barstools at the table were so wobbly they felt like they were going to break under you. The light in the bathroom mirror didn't work. Overall, the room also felt incredibly musty & smelled. The AC swamp cooler honestly made it worse. They also didn't have real windows -- just glass slats that you could open & close which was nice to let the breeze in but not so nice in terms of noise because you could hear everything right outside. We stayed here during the tropic storm last week and the power was out at the resort from 1pm on Friday to 6pm on Saturday. Resort had no generators or anything so we had to just be in the dark & have no way to charge or phones or anything. They also were not helpful at all with information about the storm. They just forwarded us warnings from the gov and didn't check on us AT ALL. We had to knock on the lobby door which was all closed up to even get a few flash lights. The storm was LOUD & scary, and it truly felt like we were in a shack in the jungle. The area was nice and less touristy which was a plus. Also the banana bread was really good.

One of the most uncomfortable and unsafe experiences I've ever had while traveling. I stayed at this property briefly during a trip from California for a family funeral. I arrived with my young daughter and within hours encountered multiple unacceptable issues that forced us to leave the same night: * At the pool, two unsupervised boys were aggressively jumping on my 6-year-old daughter. Despite asking them to stop, they continued. When I reported it to the front desk, their guardian shouted vulgar language about me and my child directly outside our room. * Our room (#64) smelled strongly of fish and mold. Upon inspecting the bed, I found insects in the sheets--absolutely unacceptable. Regardless of pest control's later claim that they weren't bed bugs, the presence of bugs and dirty linens is reason enough to leave. * I did not stay the night. I returned the keys and left the property that same evening with my daughter to find other accommodations--at a higher cost and last minute--because we felt unsafe and uncomfortable. I requested a full refund for all four nights, since we did not stay even one. The hotel only offered a refund for three, dismissing the severity of our experience. Their response lacked empathy and failed to take full accountability. Travelers, especially families with children, should be aware of what could happen here. I strongly urge management to prioritize guest safety, cleanliness, and basic respect going forward.

The sandbar in the middle of the ocean -- where Paradise Bay's Saturday excursion takes its boat out to!

Paradise Bay!!!! Where do I start... HERE IS WHAT TO EXPECT! 1) This resort is beautifully rooted within the local communities on the East shore of Kaneohe. It feels like you're staying inside of a tropical Hawaiian jungle, because you pretty much are. The drive into the resort is so special because you really are driving into the local community. Be respectful! 2) FEEL ALIVE AGAIN! This resort is fuss and frills free in the best way possible. It's designed for humans, created by real humans. It never feels soulless, corporate, or cold. Stay here to unplug from the noise of corporate tourism. 3) Adventure, adventure, ADVENTURE!! This resort is for those seeking a tropical stay with the adventurer's heart! The Saturday excursion out to the snorkeling reef + sandbar is a MUST. Rent out those kayaks! Visit the local beaches or use this resort as a launchpad to places nearby (we went to Toa Luau)! Utilize the accommodations and activities! Eat up the freshly baked banana bread and enjoy that free tropical iced tea! 4) Paradise Bay is family. The staff is incredibly welcoming and warm and authentic. I CANNOT stress this enough. During our weeklong stay on Oahu, this is the only resort where I feel like the staff actually connects with you -- shockingly contrasted by the cold, fake smiles from the front desks at large hotels in Waikiki, where everything feels like a massive tourist machine. If you have the pleasure of meeting Pua like we did, you can count on her for an incredible stay. She checked us into the resort with contagious warmth and friendliness. Every interaction with her had us smiling from one ear to the other. PUA -- YOU ARE THE BEST and anyone is so lucky to meet you! We will be back again one day, friend! 5) Just do it. Just book it. You won't regret it, but know what to expect and do your research ahead of time ;) - much love, S + C

Stayed for 5 nights for two reasons: wanted to patronized a locally-owned business, and wanted nothing to do with the city/freeway/craziness of Waikiki. Paradise Bay checked those boxes for us. It is on the east side of the island (windward) about 30-40 minutes from either the North Shore or Honolulu. There is in a residential neighborhood with nothing much in walking distance. You will need a car. We were offered yoga but no other excursions/activities as another reviewer mentioned (would have loved to go to the Sandbar!), but kayaks were available. They gave us a list of local resources. My advice: match your expectations. I can't give this a 5 star because it just isn't a 5 star hotel. The good: --the vibe was very chill, very Hawaiian, very aloha. Legit. Not touristy. --the staff were absolutely lovely and accommodating in every way! --It was a true rainforest Hawaiian vibe right down to the rooster waking you up in the morning. --coffee and local banana bread in the lobby in the AM, paradise ice tea in the PM. Much appreciated! --ukulele/singer each evening was lovely --spotless housekeeping and when we arrived there were orchids all over the room and Hawaiian music playing on the TV, adding a little magic. --kayaks were free -- fun to paddle out in the bay! They have SUPs as well. --the pool was lovely. We saw well-maintained barbeques and laundry facilities. --the floating docs were a serene joy -- bring a book and chill. --we had a 1 bed suite and the room was large, with a patio as big as the room. We could have had a party out there! --bed was comfy, shower was great, shampoo/conditioner/coffee was great. --it is well air-conditioned. In Hawaii that is not something you should assume! Things to know going in: --there is no restaurant, and there isn't one anywhere near here. IMO, it is not really a resort for that reason. I expect a resort to be a place where you could never leave if you wanted to, especially for a $38 resort fee. This isn't that place. --the neighborhood is a little shocking. You drive through a residential street where people have multiple cars left all over their yards. It does not have curb appeal and it feels like you are lost, until you arrive. --parking is $15 a night, but because of the way it is built, you are unlikely to get a spot anywhere near your room. --not wheelchair accessible. Tons of stairs and steep inclines. It is built on a hill. We didn't ask for accommodations, so perhaps there are disability units -- we didn't see them. --the furniture in the room was dated -- and was actually outdoor furniture, brought inside. If we had brought one of our kids, they could not have used the couch as a bed, and even sitting on it was uncomfortable for any length of time. --the walls were thin. Our last night we were treated to a raging fight from a couple that checked in next door. Thought we might have to call the police. We could hear every word. Not the resort's fault, but it made us aware of the lack of sound proofing. All in all, I think travelers would be wise to weigh what is important to you. The price isn't cheap. We paid $370.80 a night, plus $38 "resort fee", plus parking and taxes = $408/night. and we could have stayed for much less at a name brand hotel in Honolulu. For reference, Outrigger was $278 and Hilton was $269 for the same time period. We chose not to do that and we don't regret it. Mahalo!

Highly recommend Paradise Bay Resort, rooms are very nice, beds very comfortable and the views!!! Breathtaking! Very close to a lot of places. Don't have to drive far to many touristy spots. So relaxing! Great service and friendly people! Felt so welcoming entering our room with everything clean and plumeria setting on table and in bathroom, loved putting them in my hair daily! You won't be disappointed if you stay here, that's for sure! They offer Yoga, boat tour to sand bar to snorkel and kayaks 1 and 2 seaters. Beautiful pool and spa area, nice bbq area and patio seating to relax. Loved seeing the tiki lights lit at night. Really impressed with Paradise Bay Resort! A+++ or 5 + stars! What a great place! My daughter and I had a wonderful stay at Paradise Bay! We loved the quiet location and feeling of the resort. The grounds were beautiful and the view of the mountains across the bay were stunning! Our room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. The drive was indeed very steep, but it's not Colorado! Just take it slow, and you'll be fine. And, yes there are roosters and chickens! One hen was aggressively protecting her babies and scared my daughter, but otherwise they were charming. We couldn't hear the roosters from inside our room in the morning. We enjoyed borrowing the kayaks, and the very relaxing yoga class. We rented paddle boards, but a squall blew in as soon as we got out, so we paddled for our lives back to the resort! We had scheduled the boat excursion, but sadly it was cancelled. Based on the other reviews, we weren't sure what we were going to get, but we were pleasantly surprised and would absolutely come back!

We booked 8 night stay at Paradise Bay Resort but could not bare to stay there after 3 nights and ended up checking out early by moving to a different hotel. Details for those who are looking to stay here. On their website this place looks like a beautiful resort in a secluded place with a private view of the surrounding bay and ocean. That is partially true but what they don't tell you are the following: 1. This place isn't really a resort. It is located in residential area with wild roosters all around you. They may seem cute until they start crowing outside your window at 6:50 AM everyday 2. Website photos can be professionally touched up that I understand but they probably chose the best/only room to showcase. Rooms are very dated with the walls paper thin. I was following the entire conversation between a couple next door while taking a morning shower (will get back to shower later) 3. The beds are no more than mattress on box spring and definitely not what you would expect from a resort 4. Closets either don't have doors or the doors fall off the moment you touch them and I had to take photos just to make sure I can show that I didn't break those 5. Other amenities that one would expect to have in a resort or those they advertise in their website technically exist but are so difficult to reserve that they might as well be considered non-existent. We tried to book kayak right away and they were all booked. We later found out there were only a handful of kayaks available for a large "resort" that boasts about its amenities 6. What broke the camel's back and made us check out after 3 nights stay instead of staying there for the full 8 nights was the shower. The hot water tank serving each building is insufficient to provide adequate hot water when more than a couple of people are taking shower. As a result when you take shower the hot water pressure and flow rate were so low that it was hard to have a comfortable hot water shower. We initially thought it was unexpected and requested maintenance work but it didn't change. We then called the phone number on our confirmation email to reach the general manager (or someone in charge) but we were told that "the building is from the 50s and there is nothing we could do. Try not have shower at the same time as others since they also have this problem" The bad attitude we got on the phone was enough to make us book 5 nights of stay with Hilton on Waikiki, where we stayed last time, right after the GM hung up on us 7. When you drop $2400 for a 8 night stay ($208 weekdays, $298 weekends + mandatory "resort fee" + parking fee) you have certain expectations, even in Hawaii where the price maybe jacked up. When we made our reservation months ago we chose this place because of what was shown and sold to us on their website as well as wanting to support smaller businesses instead of big corporations. The experience we had made us regret our decision 8. BTW, our price was for the smallest studio but we were supposedly "upgraded" to a 2 bedroom suite. While checking other reviews across various different sites it seemed a few others got "upgraded" too. I wonder what a studio room actually looks like Different people value things differently. We do not feel we are getting our money's worth at this place and the experience was bad enough for us to cut our scheduled stay short knowing we might not even get a partial refund. If you find what I described above not a big issue for you then you should stay. The view on the floating dock is great and it is away from the busy Waikiki.

    Unpacking in our room!

What time is check in/check out?

    11:00am check out.

    Is there a beach area?

Not right at the resort itself. There is water access but for boating and paddle boarding. There are many nice secluded beaches within a short drive.

Do we need to reserve for the kayaking? Or can we just go in person?

You can reserve kayak rentals on the website once you've checked in to the resort 😁

Our conversation was very pleasant and I was very excited to be staying there. I offered to pay with a credit card right away, but I was told they do not accept those. I was beginning my work week at the time we spoke. Jeanette requested I mail a personal check. I sent the check in the mail about six days later from the mainland. I received a voicemail eleven days later saying my reservation had been cancelled because she had not received my deposit within ten days. Jeanette never said anything about a ten day limit. Also, I am not sure why she expects a ten day limit when people are likely sending checks from various places in the world. Although displeased with her level of service, I asked Jeanette to please wait on her decision, as I had already put the check in the mail almost five days earlier and we were really looking forward to our stay there. She said she would wait one day for the check to arrive. I thanked her for that and said I hoped the postal service would come through for me in time. I gently suggested she make it clear on the phone to her customers about the ten day rule when reservations are being made, to limit any confusion about that. She responded saying she would consider that for the future and to now consider my stay with them cancelled. I was so surprised at this! I made attempts to be peaceful with Jeanette and even told her I was sorry she felt upset, and I had no intentions of making her feel badly. I told her I was just suggesting it for the ease of things. It seemed Jeanette could not accept she had contributed confusion to the situation, let alone be told that by a customer. I was very docile and non-agressive with Jeanette throughout the whole phone conversation. It is a shame she is so limited with her communication skills and was so defensive. In the end, I think I am really glad we are not staying there. I'd rather find out about this sort of problem beforehand, especially a place as personal and intimate as a B & B! Let's hope she sends my check back! :P

I found this place while searching for bed and breakfast establishments. **Note to readers** Make sure to check for only registered lodgings, Hawaii is having issues with unregistered establishments. Checking for availability was a simple e-mail inquiry, though I could have called as well. Response was prompt and concise. Reserved room through e-mail and called to give them the credit card info. There are two units, both sectioned off from the house with private bathrooms, one with more space and a kitchen. We chose the smaller unit which was cheaper, only $75 a night for the end of January. The place is two blocks from the beach and there are two beach access points nearby. I was nervous, given the low price and my unfamiliarity with Kailua. All my fears were gone the minute I saw the place. A large bed, a private bathroom, a mini-fridge, microwave and toaster oven. Even a television with cable and room for our stuff. While not top of the line, the room was everything I expected. Barbara and her husband were gracious hosts. We had immediate answers to any questions and a nice patio with a pool at our disposal. Bottom line: if you want a nice, simple starting point for your daily excursions, check into Auntie Barbara's now. For the price and amenities offered it can't be beat. It missed four stars for only one reason: parking. The house is set back from the road down a narrow driveway flanked by a concrete wall and a fence. Parking next to the house and getting back out is a nightmare. Thankfully we were able to utilize street parking and walked down the driveway to our unit after the first day.

The first day,…read moreI thought I was guaranteed to see an apparition, given the house was built in 1914, the history of Mānoa Valley, and the turreted Victorian architecture. But the more time I spent here, this house grew on me. I was lucky to have the Davies room on the third floor (note that there are no elevators, and there are no plans to add ADA access because the house is on the National Registry of Historic Places). Awesome view of Waikīkī at sunrise and golden hour. Being 6'1" the bathroom can be awkward with its placement under a steep-sloped gable, requiring me to stand a little closer to the shower head and sink. The house has that smell like grandma's house, but it's expected with any wooden building this old. Top-notch antiques decorate every corner in a tasteful way. The saltwater pool is an added comfort, and the breakfasts made to order by Tomomi and her daughter is plain ol' good homecooking. Owner Scott Glen put a lot of money, time, and sweat into making this place wonderful. The five ducks, cat, and miniature pinscher are fun housemates!

It was private and cooling. I was lucky to have the inn pretty much to myself. I was afraid that it would be haunted but I felt a welcoming atmosphere throughout my stay. I took the John Guild Suite. I felt sad to learn John Guild had embezzled money from the Dillingham company to build this house. He was caught and had to turn the home over to the Dillinghams -- had a quiet evening after having an Italian dinner at a nearby restaurant. Was very quiet and I slept very well. The family that took over the inn was very pleasant and created a terrific breakfast in the morning. I will be returning when I can. You would need to climb stairs if u want the John Guild or Dillingham suites. I did see a clown loach in the aquarium. Haven't seen one in ages and remembered that in the wild they can grow very large. Checking out was done smoothly and felt refreshed to begin the work week again

Then, Hawaii's Hidden Hideaway is the place for you. This is a hidden gem in Lanikai my wife and I visit frequently, and each time is better than the last. The rooms (suite or studio) are well stocked and spacious. The host is the epitome of the Aloha spirit. Not to mention the location is as good as it gets. Its a 10-12 minute walk to the beach, and the views are worth every penny. The town of Kailua is a stones throw away, and it has phenomenal restaurants and plenty of shopping, not to mention right around the corner is the Lanikei pillbox hike. Within an hour drive you can hit all the famous corners of Oahu and have stories and memories to last a lifetime. Do not hesitate to book your vacation here, you will not regret it.

( it smelled old) I love the beach so much it was only 10 minutes walk. and there is a breakfast that is enugh for two . Fruit basket.. We did not get to talk, or communicate with the hostess at all. which is not a bad or a good thing. five star for location one star for the condition of the room. There was towels, enough napkins no waters or filter and the kitchen tool was so outdated like 50 years old, also carpets, beds etc. I honestly did not want to leave a review on yelp.cuz i did on Airbnb, but Yelp keep bringing up this place to review, and I did not appreciate the response on rbnb . I am not shaming the hostess, because she took care of every detail, except of the cleaning which is very important to me

We got engaged here and have returned multiple times over the years, making countless memories. As a loyal Marriott member, I always looked forward to coming back. Unfortunately, this most recent stay left us feeling like the resort has lost the charm and hospitality that once made it so special. For the price guests pay to stay here, the experience simply does not match the cost. What stood out most was the apparent difference in how guests are treated compared to locals utilizing the pool and resort amenities. As paying resort guests, we often felt like an afterthought rather than valued customers. The pool and food service experience was particularly disappointing. The wait staff consistently came across as rude, rushed, and uninterested in providing the level of service you would expect from a luxury resort. While I don't place all the blame on the employees themselves, they appeared overworked, understaffed, and unsupported by management. When employees are not set up for success, it inevitably impacts the guest experience--and unfortunately, that's exactly what happened. Another odd aspect of the property is the collection of independent shops operating within the resort. Multiple times we were reminded that they were not affiliated with the hotel, which created a fragmented and somewhat uncomfortable experience. Rather than feeling like part of a cohesive luxury resort, it often felt like a collection of separate businesses sharing the same property. What makes this so disappointing is knowing what Turtle Bay used to be. It once had a unique, relaxed Hawaiian charm that made it worth returning to year after year. Today, it feels more like a tourist-focused revenue machine than the welcoming destination we remembered. For a resort carrying the Ritz-Carlton name and commanding premium prices, we expected much more. Sadly, after this visit, we don't feel any desire to return. It's unfortunate to say, but the memories we have from previous visits are far better than the experience we had this time around. I truly hope management takes a hard look at the guest experience and works to bring back the hospitality and character that made Turtle Bay such a special place in the first place.
