The Restaurant have strict implementation of the Covid19 guidelines. We were eating alone by their terrace bar over looking the water, old capitola Venetian condos and the river. They have a great menu selection. Wow! We were not sure what to expect when we decided to grab a bite here yesterday, but we left wanting to come back. Tonight we returned and again the dishes exceeded our expectations. Beyond having good food, the services was outstanding! Our server Courtney remembered us in detail and we were delighted to have her again. She went above and beyond and all the staff were fantastic. Paradise used to be my family's go to restaurant when in Capitola. Sadly, it has really gone down hill. Our last few times here had been just OK and we decided to give it one last shot for dinner over Labor Day weekend. We waited over 30 minutes for drinks, were served warm oysters (yuck), and had over cooked steak. One member of our party did not receive his entree at all. Although our server was kind, it was an incredibly long dinner due to extremely slow and forgetful service. I am sure Paradise will continue to receive consistent business due to location, I just wish they would bring back some of the old quality and service we used to love! read more

I've grown up coming here for at least the past 15 years. One of my favorite spots in Capitola, I love sitting on the back patio looking at the water and colorful houses. It was a chilly day but the rain outside heaters kept us warm. We ordered the chicken marsala and seafood pasta. Both were delicious, was so impressed by the portion of seafood in the pasta. You really felt like you got your money's worth. The service was also very friendly and quick. Overall will continue to come here the next time I'm in Capitola. read more

Decided to hit this spot after a long drive....we sat on the patio! Weather was perfect! No bugs/flies either! Started with an old fashion, and the poke tower...along with fresh oysters. Appetizers were on point! Next I ordered the seafood pasta and he ordered a medium rare skirt steak. Pasta came out piping hot and fresh! Amazing!! His steak came out a bit overcooked for his liking....they took it back with no hesitation and brought out another steak cooked perfectly! I would give them one star but the server was good. The host unfortunately had no idea what she was doing. I was there at 530 on a Tuesday. She made us wait for 25 mins until I went inside and asked how long the wait was and another employee told me there was no wait. I was confused at first but just figured the host was confused as well..I ordered the skirt steak pasta and the pasta was pretty good but skirt steak was super chewy had to spit out a couple bites. My mom ordered clam linguine and it was very watery and plain. The best thing there was the house salad, I loved the dressing. read more

I really didn't want to do this review but what we got charged for that salad is ridiculous! Fuji apple salad for $24 after adding avocados for $3. A total rip off for for a salad. It felt like it's a salad that you plate yourself from a salad buffet when you put the greens and just throw some toppings on it. There's no words to describe it! Even the complementary salads would look more appealing and with more value. Maybe a house salad with a $7 value would suit it. The chicken tenders for the child as usual with any restaurant comes from frozen and why bother have it on the menu and charge a fortune. I can see the yelp rating is low and I didn't bother looking at the reviews which mostly I don't do. I know how tough the restaurant business is and not easy to find the right staff. But to make it in this beautiful town with this great location and to charge a fortune you need to find a good chef! If the owner is the cook then he needs to consider hiring a good chef or put more effort into bringing a better food to level up with the menu pricing but I doubt this is possible. read more

Located right along the Capitola Beach and Village walk. We came here on a busy weekend, Memorial Day Weekend to be exact. we weren't particular in sitting outside / versus inside, so we were seated immediately. Much of the menu is a seafood, fusion somewhat Mexican, soups and salads, and other various burger selections. Lots of variety of different seafood specialty choices for the most part. I ordered the appetizer called the grilled prawn and momotaro tomato avocado lettuce wraps appetizer and my date ordered the Thai mussels. My wraps were fresh and light, also pretty generously portioned. I was already full with only eating half of my plate. It had tomatos, avocados, grilled prawn chunks, mozzarella cubes on top of a red and green lettuce leaf with a small side of arugula. I was intrigued in thinking these fancy Japanese heirloom momotaro tomatos were extra special tomatos but they honestly tasted just like any other regular plain tomato. But overall, the dish was good. Light, fresh, clean, and for me was generously portioned. The Thai mussels, had a nice rich curry sauce, not spicy curry just FYI but it was also served with bread and white rice. It said it was sticky rice but it was really only white rice, but it was still good. Overall, good quality food with a unique selection of different seafood dishes. read more

Halibut was nothing special for the $36 price. We sat at the table for a long time with a stack of bread plates, but no bread until we asked. Windows were open and blowing cold air on our food until we asked them to close them. There was hardly anyone in the dining room. The worst part of the dinner was the very loud music from the 70s and 80s which made it hard to talk. "I'm Every Woman" and loud dance music is not what you want to hear when you're want to have a nice dinner. For the value, if you want a nice meal, I'd recommend Shadow Brook. My boyfriend and I went here after a nice day of walking around Capitola and it was just what we were looking for! Beautiful water view, nice atmosphere, and great food. I highly recommend the poke stacker and the lava flow prawns, it was the perfect amount of food and both were so good. They also have oysters here which tasted fresh! Only complaint on the oysters was that they were served on a bed of sea salt which got all over the yummy seaweed they placed underneath the oyster shells, making it not as enjoyable to eat. There's nice outdoor seating but I wish they had had more heat lamps because it definitely gets chilly in the evenings in this area and you get a breeze from being so close to the water. The indoor seating also looked cute, it was a mix of bar high top tables and regular tables. We came dressed pretty casual but not grungy either, which seemed appropriate. It definitely was a nicer place but since there's a lot of tourists walking around it still had that casual atmosphere. The service was a bit slow but nothing too bad. I had to ask for water myself after waiting about 10 minutes and not getting any. The servers are super sweet though and do eventually get to you. My mom asked for a blended margarita and his reply was "NOPE I don't do blended drinks" in a really rude tone. Once drinks were ordered it was 27 mins until he came back. My moms margarita was half full in a small martini glass for $15.00!! Our food took another 42 mins to get here and we were never asked if we wanted refills. The food was ok. Great beachaide restaurant. It's a little too cold to sit outside for dinner, but my partner and I were able to get a glimpse of a nearly perfect sunset from the patio. I love that this is right next to the water. The whole street is so quaint. Inside ambiance was great. Dimmed lights, Christmas decor was still up. It was the perfect set up for a romantic dinner. I ordered the lobster bisque and ahi tower. The tower came with taro chips. Though unconventional, I dipped the chips in the bisque and my taste buds were sure glad I did. The tower was okay. The avocado did not taste as fresh, but the ahi and mango went well together. I loved the lobster bisque. I had initially ordered the chicken soup, but they were out. Seemed to be out of a few items by dinner, popular place! To pair with my dinner, I ordered the pineapple splash mocktail, which went well with my dinner. Our server was very nice. We saw her a few times throughout the night, and the other servers were helpful if we had questions. Service was a little slow when we ready to bounce though. Wife ordered linguine and clams and I ordered Seafood Pasta. Waitress advised us they were out of bread rolls!! Who eats pasta without bread??? Plus she offered no replacement maybe cup of clam chowder or house salad but nothing both our sauces seem water down . I think will skip this place next time. read more

Stopped by this place during a day trip to Santa Cruz. We got there around 12:30 PM on a Saturday afternoon and were seated immediately for indoor seating. If we wanted outdoor seating, the wait was about 30 minutes or more. The view outside was amazing though! It was direct patio seating on the beach. My friend and I got the clam chowder, breadalon, and calamari. The food was pretty good but also very pricey. Not surprised by this though, since the restaurant was in prime location. Our favorites were the breadalon and chowder together! So instead of getting the chowder in a bread bowl, we dipped the breadalon in the chowder. Pretty genius idea if you ask us. The calamari was disappointing at best- not crispy and unmemorable. Would never get this again. While we were there, there was also a live band playing. This place has great ambiance with it's open windows and beach views, making it an enticing location to stop by during a trip to Capitola Beach. read more

My husband and I were celebrating out 1st year of marriage and went on a day trip to Capitola. Neither of us had been before. We arrived at the Paradise Beach Grille right when they opened, so we were able to snag a table right over the water. BEAUTIFUL view and the weather was perfect. We ordered three things to share: Crab Eggrolls, Breadalon & the Coconut shrimp. CRAB EGGROLLS were stuffed with crab and perfectly crispy on the outside. BREADALON- OMG...TO die for! You must come here for this. We will be back for this. A bread bowl, stuffed with smoked gouda, mozzarella, garlic, olive oil and green onions. It really was HEAVEN. So delicious. By the time the coconut shrimp arrived, we were pretty full, but we did manage to try. The coconut shrimp were perfectly cooked and it was accompanied by yummy garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. We can't wait to return here to eat everything all over again. This place is really fantastic! read more

We went in for graduation dinner, we walked in on sort notice with a party of 8 and they took us no problem:). But unfortunately the service was bad as we had to keep waiting for our drinks to be refilled waiting about 20 minutes or so. After our order was taken we didn't get our food for about an hour or so maybe a little more. As we saw other tables getting their food first and even leaving before us even though we came in first we grew very impatient. When we finally got our food it was not very flavorful and my order was even wrong but I didn't bother to tell my waitress as I just wanted to eat and leave. I kinda like this place. The food was good but I'm not sure if it's worth the price. This place is very upscale and by the water. They sell a pretty romantic atmosphere. My partner and I went in around 9pmish and there was mostly couples. Food: 1. Thai curry mussel appetizer This was my partners favorite dish. The mussels are very soft and delicate! They weren't mushy or grainy at all. The flavor was good! Had a little kick of spice to it and we appreciate that it wasn't drenched in butter but a unique sauce. 2. Ahi tuna salad Very lean and healthy. It was a pretty large salad with a good amount of seared ahi tuna. Tuna was cut in pretty thick slices. Dressing was light and tangy. Definitely recommend! 3. Seared scallops entree This was my favorite dish. The scallops were so soft and succulent! The flavor was rich and the sauce it came with was nice, creamy, and light. My only complaint about this is that they charge $27 for essentially 3 large scallops (it comes with rice and boiled green beans but we all know those are very cheap sides). Wished they gave us more meat for that price. Service: Service was incredible slow in the beginning but to be fair, the waitress seemed to be juggling a lot so I don't blame her. The bus boy was the best! We tried looking for him to give him an extra tip but we couldn't find him on our way out! Hopefully we'll be back soon and see him. He was very attentive to us, especially when the server was not - thanks dude! I also had an old fashion here which unfortunately was the weakest old fashioned I've ever had. Ask for a window seat, or just the high chair near the bar, you will be able to see the rainbow hotels and the sea view while you eat, but do not put high expectation on food here. Read the reviews, saw the stars, and we were Two Tickets To Paradise! The view from the patio is amazing! Choose a shady spot if you don't like the sun or if you are a vampire. The cream of artichoke soup was delicious without being overly heavy. The dungeness crab and bay shrimp salad Louis were divine. Love the crispy organic greens and fresh seafood! Save room for the Paradise Delight dessert...you can't go wrong with friend cheesecake, apples, cookies, and ice cream! Service was spot on without being intrusive. On a side note, one of the diners had a medical emergency while we were there. The staff here handled the incident with total compassion and professionalism. Bless them ALL! Started with an order of calamari, it was pretty good. The batter was fresh and not too fried, enjoyed it. Got a bowl of Clam Chowder soup, it was ok. It had too much flour, not enough clam, and was just warm, needed a nice hot soup to warm me up. The fish tacos were no good. It didn't feel like a taco. It had a decent piece of fish it it, but it was rather dry and not very enjoyable. It had a lot of Mayo on top, didn't need that. Also had a lot of cubes of sweet pineapple, just didn't taste right. And Couldn't pick it up & bite, it fell apart. Overall not a good experience. The bean salad next to it was also not good, didn't eat it. The burger was good, it tasted good, came with all the goodies like lettuce, tomatoes, avocado. However they added Mayo to it, would have been nice if it war on the side. The fries were also yum & crispy. 2 out of 4 dishes were satisfying and the other 2 were just not good unfortunately. The service was pretty good. The back patio is super cute with a view. I try not to normally leave reviews but if you have children and an appetite please reconsider this restaurant. The second my husband and I walked in with our 2 kids (9mo) and our double stroller (which fit no problem at our table. This will be relevant in a minute.) we received judgmental looks from 5 staff members. 5! Three servers, including our own waitress, and the two hosts. They asked us to leave our stroller to the side of the restaurant, which was no problem, then they seated people exactly where they told us to put our stroller. We still took it to our table and it fit, obviously with some side eyes from the servers. the only nice staff member(s) was the bus boy and some of the girls helping to clean the tables. We ordered a bread appetizer and a bread bowl clam chowder only to have the waitress comment and say "That's a lot of bread by the way. are you sure you want all of that?" What do you care lady?! She knew she messed up and kept fumbling with her words, we were taken aback and could only look at her like ?? Her condescending tone throughout our dinner was enough to leave but we don't care too much to confront anyone. Just to give a warning online. I felt bad for all the fellow parents there, nobody was too fond to serve families. I noticed the faces made when cleaning some stuff up, and when serving the babies their food. Why work in a position like this if you're gonna shame and treat people like crap? Worst culture ever. Sad because the coast is absolutely beautiful. We gave her a $30 tip because babies left food on the floor. That's etiquette but if it was just me and my husband, you didn't deserve that. I hope they all find some self love. Had the most wonderful dining experience here tonight with my friend. An amazing view, delicious food, and wonderful customer service. If you're lucky enough to have Kim as your waitress then you know you'll have an amazing time. She is so sweet, thoughtful, and gives amazing recommendations.
