Today's my second time coming here! 1st day we came it was a little colder but beautiful outside. We walked up and down the pier to decide where we were gonna eat. Very happy that we chosen here the young man that helped us was so polite and so nice and helpful . We were hoping we would see him again today . I have to say I've ate clam chowder at many places and this place has so many clams and their clam chowder big pieces and the taste is delicious [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is so much room to sit in here. The view is beautiful, no matter where you're sitting in the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This seems also like a local place that a lot of teens will come to if I lived here I would come here very often Today we're heading back home from out of town and decided to make a stop here in Santa Cruz just to come eat here The prices are great, and the service is amazing . Easy to park close by we paid maybe four dollars for an hour and a half Downloading the park mobile app is the easiest way to go .

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I came here and instantly loved the ocean view from inside the restaurant, definitely a highlight of the place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu is on the smaller side, but we ordered the clam strips, a kids' hot dog, and the clam chowder in a bread bowl. The clam strips were just okay, nothing to rave about. But the clam chowder? Incredible. Rich, flavorful, and served in a perfectly crisp bread bowl. I seriously considered ordering another one to go. It's easily the best thing we had. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's plenty of seating, which was a plus.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But a few things did take away from the experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]For one, the bathroom situation isn't ideal, it's located inside the restaurant next door, which is kind of a hassle.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Also, the staff at the front and behind the counter didn't seem happy to be there. No smiles, no friendly greetings, it actually made me feel uncomfortable asking for anything. If you're coming for the view and that chowder, it's worth a stop. Just don't expect warm service or a big menu.

    The views!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Woodies Cafe has a great location right on the Santa Cruz Wharf, and the atmosphere really pulls you in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the fish, and overall the food tasted good and was enjoyable. That said, it did feel like we were charged fresh, wharf-style prices for food that seemed more like frozen, refried fare rather than freshly prepared seafood. The quality didn't quite match the premium pricing you expect in that location. Not bad food by any means, but for the price, I was hoping for something that felt a bit fresher and more worth it. Great spot, decent food -- just room to improve on value and freshness

This is our absolute favorite & only go-to spot for clam chowder & clam chowder bowls! We drive over from San Jose *just* to grab clam chowder. Other places do not even compare.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a small spot along the boardwalk. Nice seating and views as you eat but a bit cramped.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is really clean and they're on top of getting tables ready for use.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was only 3 stars because the food was alright. The burger was good but the shrimp and chips was quite oily. Ended up getting a stomach ache afterwards. For the price, the food was mid.

Special of the day - half crab bake and a cup of chowder

I've been coming here since I was a kid. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As is the case with most of the wharf restaurants, there really isn't a bad seat in the house. Of course the coveted window seats are the best, but with floor to ceiling windows along the whole side of the restaurant, all tables have an ocean view![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Growing up this was probably my favorite spot on the wharf. But as I've gotten older and my taste for fried food has shifted to fresh seafood, I don't come here all that often. The menu has a mix of mostly burgers and sandwiches or fried seafood options - a great spot for people that aren't necessarily huge on seafood. On a recent wharf visit, I noticed a special of the day sign that boasted a half crab bake and a cup of chowder, my eyes lit up and my stomach began to rumble, so here we are! You order at the counter and seat yourself, then pick your food up when the buzzer goes off. My food came up super quickly, however my mom's took about 20 minutes until it was ready. A little inconsistent and a bummer since my food got a little cold as I waited for her. We still both enjoyed our meals and of course enjoyed the fantastic view.

Organized, clean, and quick service. I appreciated the customer service and while I've heard it can get busy when there's lots of tourist, I was seated and enjoying my meal quickly. The prices were a lot higher considering there are other locations nearby that serve similar items. I probably would not go back, but I would recommend stopping by if you're in the mood for burgers and fries.

Great classic American beach food restaurant. It's a casual eatery with good quality food and service. Everyone there was very helpful and went out of their way to give us a great experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also have a great window seating so you can look out at the water.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered a lot of things so there's pictures of the garlic fries, onion rings, fish n chips, buffalo chicken wings, chicken sandwiches, and shrimp poppers. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the onion rings. It wasn't wrong, but to me they tasted like crispy oil and nothing else.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great views from the pier[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], friendly staff and terrific Fish and Chips. Wifey had the Clam Strips which reminded us of the Old Howard Johnson's always was a treat Fish was really fresh.

We got there about 10 am and had a bit of a wait with people continuously arriving so it's clearly popular. You write your name down and request inside or out or first available. It was a bit chilly so we opted for inside. We were seated after about 20 minutes. It's pretty small inside so the addition of the picnic tables outside is a plus. We all ordered different items, sausage and eggs, bacon and eggs and blueberry pancakes. The egg breakfasts came with a side of either toast, a pumpkin muffin or a cinnamon roll. We ordered a muffin and a roll. The food arrived fairly quickly which was good because after a 2 hour drive we were ready to grub. The egg breakfasts were pretty average in taste and portion. The blueberry pancakes however were good a good size and came with 3. I did think the pumpkin muffin was fire and my bf said the cinnamon roll was excellent so maybe it's their baked goods that are part of what makes this place so popular? I didn't think the amount of food we got was that much of a value as it was a $60 breakfast. Other downsides for me was the parking situation which is common in SC. We found a spot about 2 blocks away. Also, the bathroom is outside and in dire need of a makeover. Lastly, they don't take cards. It's cash or check only. WTH? I haven't seen a restaurant take checks since I was a kid so that's been a minute, lol. Overall I can't really see myself returning other than to get the pumpkin muffin or cinnamon roll. Maybe I just need to try something different.

We came from San Francisco & spent the day at the boardwalk. It was dinner time & we didn't know where to eat & majority of places closed at 9pm. However, based off good reviews we found this place nearby. We weren't sure if they would allow us to dine in since we arrived pretty late around 8:40pm. Luckily, the waitresses didn't hesitate to seat our party of 6. (3 hungry kids & 3 adults) We ordered the: -Garlic New York Steak- medium rare & it was so good. Cooked perfectly & topped with roasted garlic. Mixed in the garlic herb butter with the mashed potatoes. It was delish! - Mac & cheese: we ordered a large & it was really yummy & enough for all of us to share. - Tiramisu: I was excited to order this and it did not disappoint. I'm always on the hunt for a good piece of tiramisu, as it's hard to find especially infused with rum. Not only was the flavor & texture perfect, it was paired with whip cream sprinkled with cocoa powder & strawberries. Such a tasty combination. Also, I'd like to give a special shout out to our waitress & chef for being so accommodating to us. They stayed open way after closing time & didnt rush us. For one of our entrees, as we cut the steak, we accidentally dropped 1/2 of it. Since it was our fault we weren't going to ask for another steak. However, when our waitress found out, she asked the chef to make another one. Surprisingly, they were very generous to give us an entire new plate. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and will be sure to dine here again during our next visits!

We started off with the calamari appetiser which for 18 dollars was a bit disappointing. It was greasy and a bit chewy, lacking flavor as well. Then we ordered our mains which were the garlic steak with asparagus and mashed potatoes and the new york with prawns, asparagus, and roasted potatoes. The new york was beautifully cooked however the garlic steak was slightly overcooked yet still marinated wonderfully. The mashed potatoes were really good but the roasted potatoes were rather gummy and a bit lukewarm. The asparagus were some of the best we've ever had. We also ordered a side of garlic bread with mozzarella but it was more akin to a ciabatta bun with shredded cheese on top. Overall some of the food was incredible, and some was lacking, but the service was amazing.

The king salmon crudo was beautifully composed, fresh and bright, and the peaches were a standout, simple but perfectly executed. The chicken schnitzel was crispy, well-seasoned, and satisfying in all the right ways. The NY Strip was where things got slightly complicated. The seasoning and flavor were genuinely excellent; the spice profile was spot on and the crust had great character. However, about a third of the cut was too fatty to eat, which was disappointing at that price point. It didn't ruin the experience, but it did feel like a quality-control miss on what was otherwise a beautifully cooked piece of meat. Also, put this steak over something else besides elaborate mixed greens. Service was warm and knowledgeable, and the space has a wonderful energy. Bad Animal is doing something right (for the most part). Hopefully I'll make it back but hoping for a better trim on the steak next time.
