This place is very dog friendly and such a cute little patio in the back! We saw the sunset here after a full day at the beach with our two doggies. There's a lot of parking in the area but I'm a busy day it would be difficult to find a spot. The service was a little slow but nothing extreme, they only had one waiter for the whole patio. My family and I stopped by Paradise Beach Grille during our trip and, unfortunately, left a bit disappointed. The best part of the experience was easily the location. We sat outside and had an incredible view of Capitola Beach. The service was slow throughout the meal, and one thing that stood out was that I never received a water refill the entire time we were there. It wasn't terrible service, but it definitely felt inattentive. I ordered the Seafood Fettuccine because I wanted something a little more filling. In hindsight, that's partly on me since seafood fettuccine isn't exactly a dish I usually expect to be exceptional anywhere. The Alfredo sauce was bland and needed a lot of pepper to bring some life to it. Most of the seafood was overcooked and chewy, particularly the fish. The clams were probably the best part of the dish and were cooked reasonably well. Overall, the view was fantastic, but beyond that, the meal didn't do much for me. Between the slow service and underwhelming food, this ended up being one of the worst meals I had on my trip. read more

I always wonder about the food at places with such a great location. This place is right on Soquel Creek with views of the creek and ocean from the deck. We had dinner here. We sat outside since it was a perfect day to sit in the sun. They have umbrellas. (I think they have heaters for cooler evenings.) I ordered the Chicken Marsala which I really enjoyed. The sauce was a bit different from what I'm used to but I liked the variation. My daughter ordered the French Onion soup which she also enjoyed. The food is 4 stars. The location is 5 stars. It was my first time actually dining with a group of folks for a friend's birthday. We had a great time eating outside on the patio overlooking the evening sky and beach front view. The Clam Chowder was AMAZING! Most of us ordered a bowl instead of a cup size. It was creamy, chunky, warm, and perfect to have on a crisp fall evening. I also ordered their "Sugar & Spice Salmon" which was also not bad as it came with chunky & creamy garlic mashed potatoes and steamed veggies! The food was a bit on the pricier side, which is expected in such a touristy driven area. Would I go back? Sure! We shared the crab cakes, and potato crusted Halibut. Both were delicious! We tried the Jalapeño Margarita which hosts a whole jalapeño in the glass, and a salted rim. Also tried the Monterey Mule and the Citrus Ace, each offered a unique flavor and liquor. The service was excellent. Our waitress checked in frequently despite being busy. I've loved Paradise Beach Grille for years and it has always been one of my favorite spots. I came in today hoping for a comforting meal after a rough day, but unfortunately things didn't quite go as expected. I started with the calamari, which is usually a hit here and still tasted great, although the portion was smaller than usual. I also ordered the prime rib special, asked for medium well, but it came out half raw after quite a long wait. The first few bites were delicious and tender, but it quickly became chewy, and when I looked closer it was clear it wasn't cooked through. I also tried the ahi tuna salad. The dressing and seaweed salad were tasty, but the tuna itself didn't have much flavor. On a positive note, our server Noel was absolutely fantastic. He was apologetic, kind, and professional. He comped my meal without hesitation and offered to bring me something else, but I just didn't have it in me to eat more after that. I'm honestly bummed since this place has always been my comfort spot, but everyone has an off night. I'll definitely be back, just a little disappointed this time. read more

We came here for a late lunch and sat outside, enjoying the beautiful and relaxing view--especially the colorful buildings of the Venice hotel in the background. The food was decent, but quite overpriced. I ordered a salad with medium-rare grilled beef; the greens were very fresh amd delicious , even if the beef was still tender,it's a bit more cooked than I would've liked. One of my friends had the salmon, which was very good, best of all dishes. Another friend had the steak - medium, but it was more done than expected, so it turned out a bit dry in my opinion. But... the fresh green peppercorn sauce accompanying the steak was awesome (I can still taste it :) ) The service was excellent. I really hate it when a nice day out at the coast is ruined by dismissive and absent minded people; perhaps racism, I am not entirely sure. I love to photograph food and I was so upset throughout the dining experience that I just wanted to eat and leave in peace. We came in at 2:45pm without a reservation but thought we were safe enough since their reservations were all the way open. Imagine my surprise when we request seats outside (we had a pup with us) and when offered a bar table seating I asked for something lower due to a back injury that requires more back support. As I am making said request, I am not even done explaining my request when I am abruptly interrupted by the hostess who claims that the only TWO tables available are reserved! I then am scurrying through my phone to make the reservation I'd seen earlier (Mind you their indoor tables were almost all available with exception of one or two tables occupied) WHEN thankfully our lovely soon to be waiter, Josh (name on receipt) said he would be happy to serve us on one of the tables available. Josh and the rest of the wait staff were amazing and we greatly appreciated them and the food. We ordered oysters (my party enjoyed them) We also had two orders of the clam chowder and that delicious as well. Four our main entrees, my parents split the steak available at lunch, I ordered the Chipotle salmon burger and my husband had the fish and chips. And our pup enjoyed a piece of their hamburger patty and Josh was just as attentive with her and provided her with water. For drinks, I had their sauvignon blanc and it liked it enough to have two glasses. My party had the margaritas and their mango margaritas and thoroughly enjoyed them as well. The table next to us were a riot, in a good way and were jovial; they almost made me forget that not all palm-color folks look at us with disdain. The 4 stars because the food was good, the view of the colorful house was a great photo op, parking was easy, though we may never come back due to the poor treatment provided by their hostess on Sunday, May 18th at approx 2:45pm. We've come here for 20+ years but the last two times the food has been subpar at best. It's not fresh, or at least doesn't taste fresh. The halibut tasted sweet, the onion soup was way too sweet and so was the Gorgonzola pasta. I understand a little sweetness but it was overpowering. And last time we went the ahi was not fresh at all. The tomatoes weren't either. Sad because it used to be a favorite but I dislike paying for food I can't eat. read more

The place was kind of empty for a Wednesday evening, so we were seated right away. We were a party of 5. We got a seat close to windows so we could look outside at the ocean. It was a nice view. They had a small fireplace in a cozy corner of the restaurant. Where most of the other guests were seated. What we ordered: PAINKILLER cocktail made with Gosling dark rum. Strong don't need to order a 2nd one..lol Bowl of New England Clam Chowder Fish and chips Sugar and Spice Salmon Paradise Beach Quesadilla with prawns Marinated Skirt steak Everything was nicely cooked and tasted yummy. The Clam Chowder was not the best I have ever had,but it was a nice creamy soup for a cold day. The battered fish on the fish and chips was really good perfectly cooked and flaky fish. The fries were nice and crisp with the flour dipping on the outside. The salmon was nicely cooked and no fishy smell or taste for cooked salmon. Sometimes cooked salmon isn't the greatest but this chef made it tasty. The Skirt steak was nice with a little kick of wasabi-teriakyi sauce which was unique. Nicely cooked as well. For dessert we had the chocolate cheesecake topped with ice cream which is extra charge and the mud pie. Both made in house. Lots of yummy chocolate in the cheesecake but not creamy like cheesecake . It was still yummy. The mud pie was ok. But it was lacking something. Maybe the type of ice cream, it just wasn't as good as the cheesecake. But it's possible eating both at the same time isn't a good idea because the flavors are so different. As far as service, the server was friendly, but I felt like she wasn't very attentative and there wasn't that many people in the restaurant. One person in our party decided to order food before everyone else and the server brought out the drinks and her food before the rest of our party ordered food instead of waiting for everyone else to order their entrées. So, the person who ordered the soup asked the server why she brought it out before everyone else ordered. The server's response was that she thought it was an appetizer and not an entrée. But the server didn't offer to take the soup back to the kitchen to keep it warm while the other entrées were being prepared. The server kind of disappeared for a while. That was disappointing. Got a seat facing the ocean (and fireworks) last night and the views were great! We started out with a half dozen oysters (Bluepoint, I believe) and fried calamari. Both were very good! Our entrees - Fish Tacos, Fish and Chips - were decent as well. Our drinks took a little bit of time to arrive, but there was a large party on the terrace, so it seemed the bar was a little backed up. Service was friendly. The price point was a bit high for the food quality, but in line with what you might expect for a restaurant right on the beach. A good spot to grab food you're in the area. read more

After that, this whole establishment lack professionalism and efficiency. Coming in on valentines night you come in with an understanding of it maybe a little chaotic, but this location was worse. We had reservations at 8pm, and instead of contacting us before coming in that they were behind on tables they waited for us to come in and check in to let us know that we were gonna be seated in 30-40 min from reservation We did not receive our drinks till 20 minutes later after being seated plus that was after being rudely questioned about our valid ID's... some updating training would definitely benefit their staff. When we received our surf and turf, which was a special that night. we received it without the items listed on menu due to them being sold out. I understand sometimes supply doesn't last but in customer service communication is key and thats what they lacked on. Unfortunately due to our time crunch we were already upset we did our least favorite thing to do which was to send our food back and cancel everything. We paid for our drinks and the lady manager was non apologetic to our situation. Truly upsetting that this kind of management is running a restaurant that could be great.. I really wanted to love Paradise Beach Grille. The location in Capitola is beautiful, I've lived here for 15 years, and we were prepared to make a night spending this with our friends from out of town on Valentine's Day of all nights. Unfortunately, what we got instead was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in a long time. The service was shockingly poor from start to finish, for what it's worth, (our waiter was great but dealing with a bad operation). Orders were slow, attention was nonexistent, and the staff seemed either overwhelmed or uninterested. For a restaurant that positions itself as upscale enough to justify an expensive wine list, the level of hospitality was nowhere close. What truly made the evening unbearable, though, was the manager's attitude. Rather than addressing concerns professionally, they were outright rude and dismissive the kind of behavior that makes you feel unwelcome the moment you speak up, especially when you're waiting your order, and they tell your party you're taking too loud. She approached our table, before we received food and claimed we were being too loud, meanwhile, a party of miscreants sat beside us drinking their tequila shots screaming about weight loss. When you're dropping that much money on dinner and drinks, you expect at minimum competent service and basic respect. We left frustrated, disappointed, and honestly shocked at how badly the experience was handled. Capitola has far better places to spend your time and money. Paradise Beach Grille was, for us, paradise in name only. Go here for drinks, not for food, and especially not good service. read more

We went on a summer weekday afternoon around 5 pm and was able to get seated right away. Our party of three ordered two burgers and a seared ahi salad. All were very good! I opted for grilled onions on my burger and it was delicious. The fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and hot right out of the fryer. My friend's ahi salad was equally delicious and I would order it in the future. Prices are reasonable considering the waterside view. $16 for the burger and fries, and $20 for the ahi salad. We sat at the bar out on the back patio and had a lovely view of the pier, lagoon, and ocean. Depending on when you go, parking could be difficult to find in Capitola Village, but we were able to park above near the railroad tracks easily. We went to Capitola expecting to have lunch on the patio at Zelda's. We found it to be closed for vacation! Looking for patio dining we eventually found Paradise Beach with space available for us. The patio is small but the view is lovely. Heat lamps are available, but we had no need. The food is delicious, all four of us were pleased. The Margarita was delicious and the beer selection as excellent. The French onion soup , crispy French fries, the fish and chips, the outstanding fish tacos... all recommended. Our waitress was absolutely excellent! ... prompt, friendly, and efficient. The interior of the restaurant is equally lovely and quite elegant. The mints upon exiting are Andes! We found the restrooms to be sparkling clean even though the restaurant was busy. Street parking can be challenging, but there is a large public parking lot nearby. read more

It's not a full on view of the ocean, but you could see it and the lagoon under us. The waitstaff, were friendly, and prompt. I had the Heavenly Turkey sandwich, 3 slices of turkey, which you could buy in any Safeway, and it was somewhat bland. There was a ramekin of cranberry sauce on the side, but I wasn't in a Thanksgiving mood. Her Ladyship also found it bland and wanting. Maybe a aioli sauce on the toasted bread would of helped. Fries were yummy!! Seemed to have an extra coating of something, which gave them a nice crunchy flavor. I didn't care much for the coleslaw either. I prefer the regular old type, ok if there's a bit of apple slices. Our waitress was super, brought me another beer promptly, (and it was a different type than my first) even though she was serving other patrons. Was disappointed with my after lunch Cognac.
