About what you can expect from casino eats. Seemed to kind of cater to the older folk... food was bland and lots was easy to chew (pasta, mashed potatoes etc). The floors were flat with lots of ramps and many of the staff were older as well. Which isn't necessarily bad, but didn't mean service was quick. They advertise a burger for like 4.99 on the marquee outside, but of course there's a hitch and you don't really get that. I got a burger anyhow and it was alright. Kids didn't seem to like their meal which could be a reflection on the meal or could be a reflection on the current state of mind of my children... who knows.... Wouldn't return here.... read more

Every year we travel to South Dakota, and our first stop is at Montego Bay in Wendover, inexpensive great rooms, and a bite to eat. We have eaten in the Paradise grill several times over the years and it has always been fairly decent, but this year the menu had changed and the service and food was not good at all. We both ordered sandwiches, I had the meatball sub , Iv had better in a gas station, it was not worth eating but it was late and we were trapped, We scarfed down what we could and left the rest and snacked on travel stuff we had....I would suggest looking around town for better food, Might have to bite the bullet and do burger King or Mcdonalds...lol read more

Horrible customer service. The food tasted awful and we wanted to send it back but the server never came back to our table to ask us how it was or fill our waters or anything. We just sat there waiting but our server was no where to be found. For how expensive the food was we thought it would be better but is was not good at all, 2 of the people in our party only ate a couple bites and couldnt eat anymore. read more

Just arrived at Wendover and looking for a place to eat. We were saving our money for the seafood buffet so we went here. So, I did not expect much so I got a $9 all you can eat spaghetti with meat sauce and garlic bread. My GF got their $8 cheeseburger. Yeah... their spaghetti is a disappointment. The noodle is as sad as its taste, overcooked. The meat sauce reminds me of my grandma's spaghetti which was just made with pork and an bottle of Ragu. I did not taste the burger, but it looks good. The veggies for the burger is plentiful and looks fresh. Their fries are good although I have a suspicion that it is one of those grocery bought fries. I cannot complain with the service. The chicken fried steak was a pleasant surprise after getting up $800 on the tables. Succulent, juicy, crisp and although slightly over salted - well seasoned, fried beautifully. Mashed potatoes were plentiful, a bit thick and almost gummy but paired well. Gravy was warm and home-y as it was evident it was composed from a gentle heart in the kitchen. Had a paradise grill melt with curly fries. Also had chips and salsa. It was extremely good. I was very surprised to find that this place has such good food, being that it was a 24/7 cafe located inside of a casino. The tea was fresh brewed and you can tell when you taste it. The salad was fresh and crisp. The salsa was delicious and you would sware that it was homemade (maybe it is). The curly fries were about average but curly fries in general are better to me than traditional and you don't really see them too often where I'm from outside of Arby's or the state fair (which both kinda suck fries wise). The burger was fantastic. Meat was cooked just right (not over done) tender and juicy. The avocado and Swiss cheese paired perfectly on the fresh ciabatta buns. One of the better burgers I've had in a while. I'm not sure if the other reviewers just had bad experiences or if I just had a great one but we ate here a couple of times and you can't go wrong for breakfast lunch or dinner (the $10.95 prime rib tastes as good as what you'd have in a high end steak house). Consider where this is: inside of a Casino. It is the 24 hour Coffee Shop. West Wendover is on Mountain Time, so everything closes at 8pm PST. We were looking for dinner at 8:45 Mountain Time - even though for us it was 7:45 PST. It is probably the most relaxing place to dine on this single street town. The decor was nice, the place was clean. The limited staff was busy but still managed to give us adequate attention. The food - I had clearly homemade Portuguese stew and a salad. Really good. My companion had a steak, it was a commercial frozen style steak, but it was well prepared and he said it was just fine. Hubbs had the 3.99 breakfast special. I had the 10. + breakfast. It was good. But here is the thing. My 10, plus breakfast was his 3.99 special with a couple of little sausage sticks and some bacon. Don't know if it was worth the extra seven bucks. (It wasn't.) It was good but...I think if you ordered the 3.99 and added the others as extras...you would spend much less. Service was good. When we walked up to the hostess to be seated, two young girls were up there and they ignored us even though they saw us standing right by them. We had to ask to be seated. Once we were seated we again wondered if we had indeed become invisible when we sat waiting for our waitress. Once she finally came, the service was fine and the food was fine. My husband and I both ordered the Prime Rib deal for around $10 I liked the ambiance and the decor. All of the walls were large "picture" windows with changing pictures of different beautiful scenery to make you feel as though you were seated beachfront in Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia, etc. They need to improve their customer service and train the young staff to treat the customers better. read more

I've usually had pretty decent experiences here but last night I had what was probably the worst prime rib of my life. it tasted like dried out roast. The atmosphere in the morning for breakfast is quite. Which is a nice change. The service is average but for windover I'm sure is decent. The days of cheap eats in a casino town are over. Every dish of substance here will cost you $10 plus, ranging to $30-40 if you want steak or seafood. No...if you want steak or seafood, go down the road to the Rainbow Steakhouse. It's still not cheap, but at least it's good. That said, the kitchen knows how to cook eggs properly any time of day, and my bacon was perfectly tender-crisp. Hash browns are so-so, but the seasoned curly fries are quite good. And they'll do that sub for free. Seriously, try the curly fries. The only real disappointment came late on a Tuesday night when this 24-hour cafe closed its doors for some kind of cleaning ritual, leaving patrons with no dining options on the property. I bought the $20 ribeye, and asked for it to be medium-well. The steak arrived, cold, tasteless, and with the consistency of shoe leather with no pink showing. My girlfriend bought the $9 Denver omelet and I was actually envious of her selection. If you want breakfast you may do alright, but don't expect much beyond that. read more

Without a doubt the worst service I have experienced In along time. Three adults arrived @5:15 pm Friday night seated promptly by a young hostess who told us we were her very first customers and this was her first day on job. Asked us if we wanted anything to drink while we looked over the menu, we all asked for a glass of water to start off with. Waited 20 minutes while waiter stood over and flirted with the cashier and the new girl. Walked past our table twice and said "be right back",proceeded Over to prep station and horses around with bus boys (2) never came back to our table. Two of us had eaten there twice earlier in the week as we found the food tastier and service better than the casino/hotel directly across the street. The waiter who was assigned to our table was the same one from previous visits. We finally got disgusted and left. The cashier was told of our dilemma and was courteous and asked if I wanted to see the manager and I declined because all three of us had been out on the salt flats all day and were starving. Previous visits were fine but this one really spoiled the Nugget for us. beware of the poor training and service before spending any more money on this second rate resturant. read more
