The Iron Skillet in Wells, NV is my favorite stop on the I-80. Many years ago I used to stop here when I would go visit my mother who lived in Twin Falls, Idaho. Being about 1 1/2 hours away, I would normally stay at a Motel 6 here. My favorite restaurant was The Iron Skillet. So tonight I decided to stop by and try this restaurant. I ordered the sirloin steak with mushrooms and onions, broccoli cheese soup, and a salad. The server was very nice but had a lot of tables to serve as she was alone. The steak was so tender that I was able to cut it with a butter knife. The soup was excellent, the salad was fresh and crisp with cheese on top, and small tomatoes. It was one of the best meals that I've had in a long time. Everyone was enjoying their meals because I kept hearing remarks of "This is excellent" and "This is really great" from other tables. I also tried their apple ice cream dessert which was really, really fantastic! The ambience was for families and those who wanted to be alone as there were tables, booths, and a counter. The restaurant was very clean and well maintained. I also want to mention the Chef who was preparing everyone's meals did a really phenominable job! If you're by Wells NV off of the I-80, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this restaurant!

Rice bowl

We had a great experience and meal, exceeded expectations. My Rice bowl was really good, hubbies southwest chicken burger, fries and side of gravy was excellent. We took the chocolate cake to go and it did not disappoint - crazy serving for $7. Loved our server she was authentic and attentive. We would definitely go back

Doesn't look like much, just a little diner in a town in the middle of nowhere Nevada in the back of a mini gambling hall but its was so worth the stop. Had been driving all day lasting on snacks, it was dinner time but they serve breakfast all day, lucky me! Got an omelet with extra cheese n bacon and a week later I cannot get that omelet out of my mind I will have to go back it was so amazing! Not to mention the service was superb! Very impressed

I'm so glad we found this spot in the town of Wells. It's a homey sit down restaurant with the quick service of a diner. They have what I thin is a perfectly varied menu with not too many options but enough to let you know that they're good at what they doo. The breakfast menu is all day and comes with sides of potatoes and toast-pancakes-or a biscuit. There was a good portion of everything but the food itself lacked a lot in seasoning. You'll definitely need to add salt/pepper, hot sauce, or ketchup to enjoy the meal. That being said the option Iron Skillet gives you of taking advantage of their HUGE salad bar (also has soup) is amazing considering fresh food options in the area. Waitstaff if very kind and welcoming, they made our experience enjoyable. Definitely check out Iron Skillet if you're passing through but maybe go with the dinner options that come with the soup and salad bar as well as one side.

Something was wrong with the gas in the kitchen, and they were only serving basically fried foods. It was not a very good experience.

DO NOT order from this place. We ordered doordash, waiting for almost 3 hours just for them to cancel our order.

Food just ok, but way overpriced. Menus sticky and filthy. Ambiance: run down diner style. Server was inattentive and loud.

It not only did it meet our expectation, it exceeded our expectations! The service was amazing, fast and very smooth! The food was served fast, hot and very appealing! The staff was very friendly and best of all the price was very cheap for the amount of food that was provided! The Star Hotel Basque Dining may be the best kept secret in Nevada, best not in Elko, the line was very consistent but the staff were seating guests dry fast and smooth! The Star Hotel Basque dining also had a bar as you walked in and they had two TV''s on with the soccer games, and the guess were having a great time! In reading reviews from others, one needs to know the style and intent of the place. People looking for sophisticated, fancy meal will be disappointed. People looking for a family style meal, with the warm and engaging people, with honest, real, good food, will be thrilled. We were there for a late lunch. Our server was extremely kind and explained the menu, process, and local favorites The Pico Punch had a touch of Vicks 44, but that's exactly what it should taste like. The quantities are huge. Cabbage soup broth was delicious. Italian bread would be better if warmed, but still good. The salad was robustly tossed and the dressing had a nice touch of garlic. The steak sandwich was tender and had an excellent marinade/flavor. Fries: very greasy and not their finest moment. We have family in Iowa and this all felt similar: Midwest friendliness, warmth, and good food. We were leaving at 445 and the line had grown to 20 for dinner! Appeared to be locals/regulars. As another noted, yes, there are brothels just down the street. Hey, it adds to the local charm!

The dough maker, whom I believe was named Aliza (apologies if I have the name wrong), was there preparing fresh dough, which was wonderful to see. I was fortunate to find a few pastries still available, including the Chile Verde and Beef with Cabbage. The Beef with Cabbage pastry was flavorful and especially enjoyable with their homemade "Hot & Spicy" sauce. While I would have preferred the pastry dough to be a bit crispier, I purchased it after hours and was still very pleased with the quality and taste. Overall, it was a delightful surprise and a very enjoyable experience. I also picked up one Chocolate Brownie with walnuts and a slice of their homemade Carrot cake. I had the carrot cake and it was outstanding! Fresh, flavorful, and loaded with carrots and walnuts, it was everything a great carrot cake should be. I've enjoyed desserts at five-star restaurants and have family members that easily ranks among the best bakers and this cake was delicious!!! Every mouthful was pure deliciousness, and my taste buds were extremely happy. I would gladly order it again!

From the lighthearted good energy country decor with bright color mixed with softer grays, there were things like bicycle on wall greeting us with the purpose of dreez. "FOOD " with the bike wheels forming the OO's, a cute family portrait of the namesake of this cafe, Dreez and a sign promoting strawberry lemonade mimosas! Next our server gave us a warm welcome and helped make decisions that involved a food sensitivity. And I haven't even got to the yummy food yet. My husband had the smaller of the two complete American breakfasts offered and it was quite a generous portion. A highlight was the sausage patties. I chose the half and half Benedict which was perfect because I couldn't decide between the two. I selected that one while still looking at the yelp app in my hotel room and it did not disappoint! Each half was huge. And the presentation was beautiful too. Wish I'd taken a picture! A specialty of Dreez' is the chili infused hash browns. They were great and full of flavor and had a delightful mouth feel. A bit of light crispy and just enough creaminess from the cheese and cream in them for balance. Though our super sweet and friendly server did tastefully warn against having them four days in a row for comfort sake, they were not overly spicy. Great flavors! I ordered their Greek Goddess omelet, which traditionally comes with sausage, but I subbed in shrimp instead and WOW this is my new favorite omelet! The combination of the feta, sundried tomatoes, and pesto delivered a lot zest and flavor in each bite. Please keep this item on the menu forever! I opted for a side of the country potatoes with my omelet, and was disappointed when they came out covered in bacon and cheese, as nowhere on the menu did it say they came with bacon and cheese. Just a small inconvenience, and it won't change the fact that this is our new go-to breakfast spot when we pass through again in the future.

I heard the food was pretty good here and a decent deal. I go in with one co worker whose driving me around Elko. It's not really too smokey in here, so that's a good thing, but it's not a crowded Saturday night either with all kinds of drinking and smoking at the slots going on. We get seated at a nice table and I go over the menu. They have a prime rib special here for $17.99 and it's available everyday from 11 am! Most of these casino restaurants that have prime rib, only have that on Fri and Sat after like 4 pm. I passed this time, but what I did see was the Chicken Fried Steak! It's supposed to be a 10 oz. beef patty, breaded and deep fried served with country gravy, hashbrowns and toast, and then even THREE eggs, for just $13, that's a deal. In the Bay Area where I was just working, they don't even serve Chicken Fried Steak ..... it's like truck driver food I guess. My friend had this Cali Omelet ... yeah it was sort of breakfast time for us. That was the more healthy option with veggies and no meat, just the opposite of what I ordered! The food came out in short time and look fab! I ordered my Chicken Fried Steak on a separate plat with gravy on the side, so I didn't get gravy all mushed up with my eggs and potatoes. Holy moly, that was a lot of food! Super tasty, I just ate half and took the rest to go, gave it to my friend since I flying back out soon and I don't think the airline would appreciate me bring Chicken fried steak on the plane to eat! The omelet looked better than I thought it was gonna for the price. Tons of avocado on top and fluffy hashbrowns! 5 stars for the food here!

Once seated, our experience was a mix of highs and "almosts." - Appetizer: We started with the fried pickles -- crisp, flavorful, and addictive -- though a seasoned dipping sauce would have taken them to the next level. - Entrées: Antonio ordered the prime rib, advertised at 12 oz, but it appeared a bit smaller than expected. Portion sizes for his sides, however, were generous and satisfying. I went with the penne alla vodka but received penne with marinara instead. While the garlic bread was decent, I missed the creamy, robust vodka sauce that was promised. - Service: A little on the slow side, though staff were polite once they arrived at the table. Overall, the food was decent, but not quite on target. We're planning to give them another try for breakfast -- here's hoping that meal hits closer to the mark.
