Everyone seems super friendly at this location. The only thing that kinda sucks is they didn't have any samples. Uh-oh...it's only 8pm and they were already out of the cracked pepper...we got the last 2 at least but wanted 4 . Thought the Salt & Vinegar sounded odd for a meat, but I LOVE S&V...so wanted to try before I bought a big bag. I would assume I wouldn't be disappointed, but wasn't willing to risk it. Hopefully next time we come back they have samples or we might try the main retail location! Then I can update the rating...HOPING to elevate to 5 !!!

Really great spot in Waikiki with amazing service! We had gone for dinner at upstairs Aloha Table and came across the tent staffed by a really nice gentleman who offered us samples for various flavors of beef jerky - of which included salt and vinegar (!!!) and lava. What made this jerky different from the rest was the crispiness - almost like a potato chip! That was great, and I really appreciated the time spent to explain the product, and hey it got my attention. I was also pretty interested by the Hawaiian coffee, as I am quite the snob myself. The employee helped me with a doubleshot of espresso, which was a great end to my night! There's a little seating area right by the tent, and it's located by the alleyway. Even though it's quite a touristy area, personal and friendly touches like these are needed in more places!

Bomb jerky chips, definitely would recommend. Mika was very nice. Great spot for those jerky lovers!

The lady who helped us is super sweet and informative. We were able to sample the different flavors which were all were delicious. If you're ever in the area be sure to stop by!

What do you do after eating dinner? Given what we've been eating, you try to walk off dinner or at least burn some of it off. We talked about a place that our local friend had never tried so I played tour guide and brought here to show her the late night loco moco place upstairs. Upon seeing this store's signage, I didn't hesitate to step in and browse. I bought one each of the two available flavors, original and wafu (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=HTkzUX84Ku-i4GNWAcSK2Q&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). I gifted to my fellow jerky aficionado, one who preferred types that were easier on her teeth. I waited about six weeks after getting home before opening my bags. I started with the original (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=mM4hMSQrUEFzhfboGkpItg&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); my initial reaction was that it is pricy for the scant amount of pieces in the bag. As I started eating these thin, crepe-like strips, I appreciated it more and more. The texture is akin to eating potato chips as I munched while watched the NCAA tournament. This was bold and had a mix of sweetness and saltiness that meshed well. A couple days later, I started on the wafu flavor (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Tnim388rH0dAmAa5HmATBQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). I liked this too though the taste is muted in comparison to the original. I actually finished this bag in one sitting so you know how I felt about eating this. Big thanks to Hiro who handled our purchase and explained the background of their business. I appreciated that he offered the Kamaina discount as luckily our local friend reminded us about it. I enjoyed this so much that I will likely be asking soon-to-be visiting friends to buy me a bag or two (or more) to bring home.

We go to Waikiki every year since my half brother was born in Waikiki so it's our family trip annually. On our last visit, I discovered Paradise Jerky. I bought a few to bring to the beach, while reading my book, sunbathing and snacking on this thinly, crispy refreshing jerky. Solid protein, perfect for Keto diet or low carb diet, just enough to hold you over and your abs still look flat-bulously :-) The peppery is my fav because I like a spicy kick to it. Hubby enjoyed the original. And my mom enjoyed the tropical Wafu style. Support small business and made organically/locally here, thus shop is just 2 blocks from the Waikiki Beach, just by the International Market. Check them out when you are in town! They also ship to mainland too!

3-4 stars, it pains me to give a review less than a 5 stars because the gentleman manning the store was super nice and I could tell he was excited and passionate about the product. I just personally don't think this beef jerky was for me. I love beef jerky and after eating these, I realized I prefer them thicker. This beef jerky was paper thin. I do have to give it to them for having a lot of a flavor in such a thin product; I bought the pepper flavor. Each one was $20 which I think is a little pricy. Again, I believe it's all just a personal preference thing; two other people who tried it really enjoyed it. The enthusiasm of the employee was very memorable though

Paradise Jerky got some tasty thin beef jerky treats!

Review 41 (2026) I…read morereceived text messages that I won the prize!!! I got 4th place Door Prize. I got their original Rice Factory Tote bag. Thank you so much. I ordered " Organic Umeboshi from Kishu Japan, and Sasashigure Rice from Japan. Sasashigure is one of the top quality rice in Japan. Sasashigure is a rare, traditional Japanese rice variety and the parent rice of Sasanishiki, one of Japan's most beloved varieties known for its elegant flavor and light texture. With a delicate aroma, clean taste, and firm texture, Sasashigure offers a refined sweetness and a less sticky texture compared to many modern rice varieties. Its balanced flavor makes it an excellent choice for Japanese cuisine, sushi, and onigiri. Today, Sasashigure is considered a rare heritage rice due to its limited production and careful cultivation. I also received $25 credit !!! Thank you again. I will order Sasashigure again if still available. Thank you so much.

Which makes this review frustrating to write. The rice is exceptional. The sourcing is thoughtful, the seasonal varieties are genuinely special and if you care about Japanese rice, this place deserves its reputation. The service does not. On my latest visit I walked in with my family, including my two and four year old. If you've ever shopped with kids that age, you know you're already working overtime keeping little hands off displays, making sure nothing gets broken, trying to be respectful of the space. Not once did anyone greet us. No hello. No welcome. No acknowledgment that we'd even walked through the door. When I asked what I thought was a perfectly reasonable question whether I should buy the limited seasonal rice or the variety I'd enjoyed on a previous visit the answer felt dismissive, almost like I was wasting their time. If you're building a business around expertise, helping customers understand the differences shouldn't feel like pulling teeth. That's the entire point of having knowledgeable staff. Yes, the parking is inconvenient. Yes, the prices are premium. I can live with both because the product is genuinely excellent. What I can't understand is why a store built around craftsmanship seems so indifferent to hospitality. I still bought the rice because it's that good. But I left feeling like my business was expected, not appreciated. I sincerely hope they improve because I'd rather support them than look elsewhere. But if another shop opens with rice of this quality and people who simply smile, say hello and take a minute to help customers make a decision, I'll switch without thinking twice. The rice earns five stars. The experience earns one.

And the price? Well, it's priced right! Seats about 12 people TOTAL. I might be shooting myself in the foot by revealing what I consider to be a great kept secret! OR. I must have been living under a rock NOT to have known about this place. (OK, I've been to the market during the day but never knew about the night time activities). I will caution the food takes time to get prepared so be on top of your order or it may get lost in the shuffle (or lost in sake) It's BYOB and like other izakaya with BYOB policy; be sure you bring some adult beverage for the chef and his workers. Sashimi Omakase? The best!
