Unfortunately, when we took our dog for weekend boarding, we did not receive the services or care that we paid for. When we picked her up Sunday afternoon, she was limping, not wanting to walk, and looked in pain due to red and raw paws (it was absolutely not due to sensitivity with the pea gravel as the irritation was between the pads and she has been regularly exposed to gravel for 18 months). The facility stated their only guess was that our dog was licking excessively due to anxiety. I am still very confused as to how this "state of the art low stress" facility with professionals that care could not see that she was in pain until we picked her up at 4:30. They stated they last took her out at 2/2:15. It's very interesting to us that this pain and irritation occurred within 2 hours and right before we arrived. We did not receive any communication when we were away. NO ONE noticed until we picked her up. The facility did pay for the vet bill, but our vet is married to the owner. We can not speak to the weekly care that they provide, but we strongly would caution against referrals to this place and would highly recommend you consider other options for weekend care. It's always a red flag when the manager is defensive when we question the safety, comfort, and emotional well-being of our beloved pet (something that they advertise as important on their website). read more

Paradise pets is the favorite hangout of Gordon and his 4 pawed buddies because it caters to his very special needs. You see, Gordon is a 120lb Newfoundland - Black Lab mix and his need is for somewhere to run and play and get chased and just have an all-around good time. We found Paradise Pets about a year ago - it was recommended to us by some friends. We drop Gordon off for doggie day care a couple times a week before we go to work, and then pick him up again after work. In the summer the dogs spend a lot of time outside, with plenty of obstacles to run around and water to splash around in. During the winter they don't go out as much, but Gordon still comes home exhausted. They have separate play areas for big and small dogs, everyone gets an afternoon snack (usually something like grilled hot-dogs). The staff is always friendly, even early in the morning or when I have been running late to pick Gordon up. They know every dog by name, and the animals all seem to respond well them. Oh, and I almost forgot - they have on-site grooming services too. Fur washed and trimmed (or shaved in the summer for Gordon), nails and teeth done about every other month for us. It's nice to have a big dog that isn't a smelly big dog. Last, but not least - they do boarding for the dogs. We've just never needed that for Gordon yet. read more

Our eldest went over Christmas We did daycare before we left to make sure it was a good fit. They delt with my worried phone calls checking in. The owner even emailed with me and she understood my dogs were my children and I expected no less than the best. They groomed him well. He was happy to be home but sure was tired. Anytime we are in the car headed that way he gets excited he knows exactly where he is going. Excited to bring our youngest to play with other puppies So glad I didn't listen to the negative reviews. This place is awesome. Now having three Dalmatians and taking them there when we are vacationing get expensive but it is worth it. I never have to worry about anything. O'Malley, Lucy and Zara all sleep together. Everyone there is super super nice...even if they think the crazy lady with all the spotted dogs is coming!!! They do have a lot of add ons which can get pricey but you can say no...just say no. You can go there anytime to creep on your dogs and they do not care. When we first started taking them there I just wanted to make sure they were playing and you know just see what they were up too...Yes I know I am obsessed with my dogs and I am fine with that. So they guy took us back and let us watch them on their cameras, you cannot actually go back and see them because it will get the dogs all rowled up and you do not want to disturb the peace. Guess what they were fine...just trotting around. When we pick them up they are exhausted and smiling...yes Dalmatians smile. They really do love it there. Now they offer vet services too! Highland Pet Hospital which is where we take our doggies are there for services a few times a week and I think are building a facility right next to Paradise. They go outside a lot too, weather permitting. They have a pool and a huge playground. They will make your doggie a cake if it is her/his bday. They give them breakfast on Saturdays. If there tummies hurt they gift them white rice with ground beef. If you do not bring your own food they provide them with food. You are rent the facility for a doggy party! It is nice just to have a place where you can trust your dogs are getting great care and great exercise. The staff there is awesome! We see the same faces there all the time, that is a huge plus!!!!! read more

Love Paradise. Happy People- happy dogs I would give them 5 stars, but a couple of things. 1- it's FAR east- quite a drive, so sort of a pain. Wouldnt care so much if the snow was shoveled more out there, and that includes their lot- slick slick slick 2-the staff have MOSTLY been super friendly- I had a little spurt of a mid snooty pick up gal, but that was resolved. 3- our dog had a scratch on his nose once, which isn't a biggie, at all. Do not take your dog to Paradise Pet! The first time we boarded there for a weekend our dog was fine. The second time, he came home with a bad eye infection that had to be treated with antibiotic drops. We thought it was just a fluke, so we brought him back a third time -- again, just for the weekend. When we picked up our dog, he had an eye infection, an ear infection, and a respiratory infection. He was up to date on all his shots. The poor thing was SO sick and we ended up paying hundreds of dollars in vet bills after this incident. read more

Our boy Edward went to daycare and boarding here. The thing I really liked was the speed and efficiency of check in / out. We worked with some other facilities prior to PPHDS and they just could not check our dogs in / out leading to large lag times. Grooming was always a great job. We've since moved to Indianapolis and realize just how hard it is to find a good groomer. Edward is now on his 3rd groomer which I hope is going to work out (he goes tomorrow). They also help adopt dogs that need a home. Very caring people and the staff has always been top notch with zero drama. read more

I love the attention and care my 3 get when they visit. I have nothing but nice things to say about the staff and the facility. A couple months ago one of the collars was misplaced. I was sad because the tag was custom made and so was the collar. They were so nice about it and offered to reimburse or give me daycare credit. Thankfully they found the collar and apologized. I boarded my 3 last week overnight. This was the first time ever. I was scared because my German Shepherd is extremely sensitive to any minor change to her schedule or routine. The day I picked them up they were happy and I could tell she had not been stressed out at all because she didn't have any stomach problems (that's usually what happens). My main concern when looking for daycare grooming boarding or veterinary services is that wherever I take them treats them like I do and this place has met and exceeded my expectations. read more

TREATED VERY POORLY! OWNER IS RUDE! Took our small Chinese crested here to get groomed. Chinese crested breed are known for their terrible teeth and oral health. Our dog has been suffering with bad teeth and we have been treating her for them the ten years we have had her. Upon pick up of our dog, the owner told us that she had a tumor on her jaw and that she was going to die! I know.. I wish I was making this up but I'm not. She even went on to say that she had spoken with our vet and he said we left the tumor untreated for sometime and that we were neglecting our dog! I was so upset and left and called the vet. Well come to find out, the vet had NEVER EVEN SPOKEN TO THE OWNER! She just made it all up! I am not sure of her motive for scaring me into thinking that my dog was going to die other than an inflated ego of her knowledge on canine health. Paradise pets needs to stick with cutting hair and leave the diagnosis of illness to actual vets. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE! read more

Unfortunately, we will no longer board our dog at Paradise Pets. He's currently hacking and spitting up phlegm from his most recent stay. We've boarded him there about six times over the past year and he's come back with kennel cough at least half of those times. Other times we were able to board him at his vet clinic and he has never come back with kennel cough after a stay there. The staff is friendly and we will likely continue to take him to Paradise Pets to be groomed, but boarding is now out of the question. We will only board him with the vet. read more

We trust this place because the staff is caring and compassionate towards their human, canine, as feline guests! We literally drove 1.5 hours out of our way last year to bring our dog here for boarding (1wk) due to a friend's recommendation and it was worth it...and we have a 150+ lb dog, so not a little teacup you can tote around in your purse. We can enjoy our trips knowing our beloved furchildren are in good hands and that they get lots of love, attention, and playtime. read more

LOVE Paradise, and so does our high energy Catahoula mix, Duncan. We don't take him as much as we would like to for daycare because it is quite a haul to get out there and it does add up if you go regularly, but it is a treat when he does go. The moment we turn off of TB Rd, he is overwhelmed with joy because he knows where we're going. He has allergies in the fall and when they notice he's scratching more than normal, or his ears are bothering him, they let me know when I pick him up which tells me they are paying close attention to each pet. He did manage to get kennel cough once after being there for daycare, but I don't understand how people can fault the facility for that. He had his vaccination and still managed to get it, so I'm sure the same possible is for others... it's a little out of their hands when that happens despite the vaccination being a requirement. We had never boarded him until recently and I was having SERIOUS anxiety about it (we've all heard the horror stories, and I don't trust ANYONE with him). I even got emotional when we dropped him off. Needless to say, everything went just fine and he came home a healthy, happy, pup. read more

Boarded my 10 year old JRT here - he's been pretty catered to his entire life. I was afraid he'd be traumatized or be a jerk to the other dogs. However, everything was great. Not only was he exhausted....not just tired but literally to the point of sleeping for nearly a straight day after getting home from playing so often and hard, he was unscathed (no fights, no attitude issues, etc.). I am very pleased by the staff (very helpful, informative, and comforting). The overall energy from the place (canine and human) is just calm and positive. I will be boarding our "old boy" again, along with our recent addition to the family a 5 year old female Jrt mix. Thank you Pet Paradise for making the choice easy for my beloved pets. read more

Cooper always comes home tired but happy from Paradise Pet Hotel. We don't worry about him during the typically once a year boarding. He is groomed regularly there. Our only issue is how long of a wait it is to get him groomed because they ate so busy. read more

We have been taking our dogs to Paradise Pets since the grand opening (August 2004). I would never imagine taking my precious animals to any other kennel in the Bloomington area. They love to attend daycare daily and we never stress when boarding them. This establishment had excellent customer service, qualified kennel workers and goes above and beyond to make your pets daycare/boarding experience "top of the line". Our dogs are always excited when we turn off of the main road to enter Paradise Pets parking lot. We are very pleased with the interaction they receive each day at daycare and love when the pool is open. Unfortunately, my husbands job is relocating us to another city and we will continue to travel to board at Paradise Pets (2 hour drive). We have taken the time to take tours of other kennels in our new city and have not found one even remotely close to Paradise Pets. We are sadden to see the daily daycare come to a close but we are aware of the great boarding experiences they will continue to look forward too. This place is exceptional! The owner is wonderful and takes every pre-caution for safety when boarding your dog and at day care. I have an English Springer who is full of energy She is tired when she comes home from daycare instead of bouncing off the walls. I have her groomed there also and have always been very pleased. I always have her get the blueberry facial which makes her smell really nice for a long time, no slobber smell for awhile. Definitely worth the little extra. Boarding is equally wonderful. I wonder if my dog is a little disappointed when it's time to come! read more

I couldn't have been more pleased with our experience. I boarded our cat at Paradise Pet Hotel during a spring break trip. Since I had a coupon for a free add-on to a spa treatment I decided to give him a spa treatment, too. When I dropped off our pet I was very impressed with the attractiveness and cleanliness of the facility. It looks and feels like a hotel and spa, not just a boarding house. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. When I returned to pick him up he was healthy, in good spirits, and he looked and smelled great. In fact, one month later I can still smell a slight hint of blueberry on him. The groomers did an outstanding job and so did the staff who gave our cat plenty of attention and play time. I know that our pet enjoyed his stay; Paradise Pet Hotel will be our pet's home away from home when we travel. I highly recommend them for both boarding and grooming. read more

My husband picked up our dog on Friday and he was limping. He assumed that our dog was just tired from playing. He eventually stopped walking on one of his front feet, then both of his front feet. Upon further examination we found lacerations with skin flaps of both pads. He is now not walking on either of his front feet. He has developed a subsequent wound infection. Paradise pets say that he must've injured his feet on the rocks out back while playing. His back feet have no injuries what-so-ever. I have also examined the rocks at the facility and they are small and not jagged. A $200 vet bill later, dog unable to walk, infected wounds.....Paradise pets will not tell us what happened, not offering to pay our vet bill and are not reimbursing our recent visit (as we are not returning). My poor dog is laying on the couch wearing an e-collar in pain and wincing. This is our experience. Please don't take your dog to this establishment. read more

We boarded our dog there one night and it seemed like she was well taken care of. (Although my dog was the most laid back dog ever). She smelled AWESOME after we picked her up. My only minor complaint was when I went in for a "tour" - I wasn't given one. They let me look at some grainy black and white surveillance cameras but I wasn't allowed to actually tour anywhere the dogs were allowed. I can understand but also want to see where my dog is going to go. All in all I was happy with my experience. read more

Took out 2 dogs there to get groomed. They skinned the potty trail on one dog so bad she was bleeding. Called they pretty much blew us off. Owner wasnt to concerned or seem to not care. Wont take my dogs there anymore. How would she like her ass cut so close it bled? I think not! read more

Our dog, Kilo, LOVES going to doggy daycare at Paradise Pets. We take her a couple times a week. When we pick her up, she's always asleep before we leave the parking lot. The staff always greet her by name and are always happy to answer questions. I asked how Kilo does with the other dogs once and the woman let me know all about her little 'pack of friends' and what she does all day. It makes me feel great to know the staff know the dogs so well. Another thing I love about Paradise is the pool. Kilo LOVES to swim. They often post pictures of the dogs swimming and I enjoy seeing Kilo having so much fun! read more

We have had our dogs here for daycare and boarding. Overall, we have had a great experience. Our dogs are very high energy. We brought the first one as a puppy for daycare, and it is the only time he was ever tired! We have not used daycare since we got the second dog, but still use the boarding. Our dogs did get sick initially, but they have with anything stressful or exciting. Even a trip to the vet would result in them being sick. The one has outgrown it and doesn't have a problem anymore. The other one still does, but he is like that with everything. When we had them in boarding and they started to feel ill, we were called right away and they also called our vet on our behalf. Great service. A little change in diet and they were fine. Really made us feel they were in good hands with people who really cared about them. The grooming was ok, but I personally don't feel like they did well enough for the cost (actually - one dog was always good, the other not so much. So it may depend on which person you get). It is expensive, or we would probably use them more. The cost for two large dogs is high. Even if you pick up on Sunday, you are charged until Monday. And we ask to keep ours together in the kennel, but you still pay for two spots. But we have tried two other places that were a little cheaper, and definitely will keep using Paradise. read more

Left our older pet in their care years ago, he had an injury we told staff about when dropping off. Upon pick up a week later, we were told he did "great". When we got him home we found his injury had not been cared for - resulted in our needing to amputate 4 inches of our dog's tail. Gave Paradise another chance with our new, younger dog. This time we informed the staff upon drop off that our dog had allergies and had been scratching at himself. Upon pick up 2 days later, we were again told he did "great", no concerns. Came home to find he had a 6 inch circle of hair missing and red abrasions all over his hind quarters. What kind of care is this?!? I privately messaged the owner about my complaint and her response was "how do I know this didn't happen after he got home?". Please do not take your pets to this facility for boarding! They do not care for you pet as they say they do! read more

I was very excited to take my energetic puppy to this beautiful facility. It was a great place for her to socialize and get her energy out while I was at work. Unfortunately the men supervising in the back were using scare tactics to control the dogs. They told me that my medium sized dog climbed the short fence to be on the large sized dog side. It makes me so sad to say this but my well rounded puppy is now skittish to loud noises and afraid of men with features that match the men that worked in the back. Friends come over and she is absolutely terrified if any of them look similar. It breaks my heart to think of how they scared her to get her to listen. Yelling and slamming trash can lids together are just a few of the methods. If I had known this I would have never put my puppy through this and still have a well rounded dog. We are now doing our best to desensitize her to men with these features. This place needs to think twice about who they are hiring. read more
