I'm not one to write long reviews. But CES deserves ALL the words. Our backyard transformation was…read morefraught with mishaps and they were beside us every step of the way. After finding them through yelp reviews, our introduction was with Clint. He came out to the house and talked to us about our vision for the yard (we were torn between pool/no pool/spool, and between husband's and my aesthetics), and he sent us two CAD options. He and PJ (original owner) had to manage our confusing and conflicting requests for changes and finally settled on a design we were both excited about. They set us up with a pool company they recommended, Verde, who worked on the pool design for us. When the time came, Verde got the city pool permit approved, an inspection completed, and broke ground on the pool. Simultaneously CES came in and tore up the existing yard to prepare for the extensive changes (we were adding a large patio and a floating pergola behind the pool, in addition to turf and landscaping). After the pool had been excavated, gunite poured, plumbing started, and CES was ready to start on the hardscape structures, they were suddenly and frustratingly halted by the permit for the patio. The city told CES that our yard was on the 100 year flood plain, and that meant the city should never have approved the construction in the first place. So all construction on had to halt while we went back and forth with the city to work out 1) why they approved something that shouldn't have been approved, 2) if we couldn't continue then why shouldn't they have to pay us back for all of the damage to the yard through construction we were no longer able to continue, since they had signed the permit to begin with, and 3) was it possible to convince FEMA to change our flood plain designation and get permission to continue. We sent increasingly hostile emails to the city project manager, then the town manager, and received sporadic and unimpressive responses. CES was in constant communication the whole time. Justin, was particularly helpful. He followed up on every email, provided documentation as needed, and when we were considering suing the city, he and the new company owner actually showed up at the legal offices with us to argue on our behalf and provide evidence that everything had been done correctly. All of this without additional compensation. In fact, both CES and Verde had basically lost money into the project because they were working ahead of payments and didn't have any way of knowing if they'd ever see the return. FINALLY, after 10 MONTHS of back and forth with the city and FEMA (mind you, this was supposed to be a 2 month project in total), we got our approval from FEMA to continue with construction and complete the project as planned. Justin and the team were at our house the next day with hugs and assurances that getting us our yard back was their top priority. Their teams worked long days and weekends to get us back on track. Shoutout to Carlos for being exceptional! The pool ended up being built higher than expected, which necessitated some redesign on the part of CES to make everything work (they had to fill in some areas to bring everything up flush to the pool, add some additional patio space to make the drop-off in back work, and change the landscaping to make it all look purposeful). They actually paid for some of this out of their own funds. As of yesterday our yard is complete! We couldn't be happier with the results, and can't wait to see what it will all look like when the plants fill out and the landscaping is more mature. All in all, not only would I recommend CES, we will be using them again personally next year for our front yard... which will hopefully not become an international incident. TLDR: Despite a fiasco with the city over approvals, CES helped us complete a large back yard project. Their work was flawless and every employee a joy. Our budget and time frame ended up being a little tighter than we had originally hoped due to some required foundation and electrical work, so we had to scale back our project and go with a smaller business. However, we are hoping when we do our next project, which will be the kitchen, that Ray and Nohemi will be available. Would love to work with them beyond just the design phase.

Ray was able to reach out to the subcontractor who worked with us during our 2016 remodel to make changes to our home security system and cameras. Seriously, almost 10 years later. We had a custom built steel gate installed in 2016. Ray still knew who built it and knew what would be involved at adding a new coat of paint. Ray also helped with moving us over to one system like Ring, Nest,or Wyze. Instead of a hodge podge of various products. This has been huge. During that process he reminded us that the new code requires 3 smoke/fire/carbon detectors. We have referred several friends to HDP and allowed individuals to tour our home and inspect his work. Because we continue to be that impressed. Last week we again gave him a long list of normal wear and tear items to more extensive projects and he submitted his review timely and accurately along with a couple suggestions. All of the Nextdoor reviews were absolutely glowing so I decided to give them a shot. I had 2 other contractors come out & bid the work and Verde Pro was the most competitive. Throughout the project, Christian communicated well and was upfront about any scope changes that would require additional cost - no surprises. He made sure that the finishes were as I requested and made honest suggestions when I wasn't sure about something. The timeline to complete took a little longer than anticipated but that was mostly due to a really rainy June. In the midst of the project, I had a death in the family & Christian was very respectful and accommodating to my needs. They made sure everything was complete (big & small) before we called the project done. My neighbors even commented on how respectful his team was - of my property and of the neighborhood. Even asking for a time estimate on my project was something he couldn't answer. Two weeks have gone by since my initial visit and I still have no bid - when I asked him for an updated bid, I was told repeatedly I would have it by the end of the day or would have it if I texted my email to him bit to date I still never received it. A text to Steve this weekend was met with a "you'll be happier with another contractor". See attached text conversation. Would think twice before choosing this company - if you're hoping for someone with hands on pool experience who can answer specific questions about a complex job, this may not be the best company to go with. If follow up and organization is what you're looking for, you won't find it here. If you want the pertain you hire to be the one doing the work, look elsewhere.

Contacted this company 5-weeks ago to get a quote for a retaining wall, and fencing done. They came…read moreout and I told them about what I was wanting. Derek only took a couple measurements and said they would be back. I told them I had already received one quote immediately ($40+K) and was waiting on another to come in. The other quote came in 2-days later and was over $40+K so this was no small job. After waiting 2-weeks, Steve and Derek both came back out and we talked over the plan again. We actually talked about a more expensive plan, but they sold me on their ideas. I was excited about the changes they recommended. I told them I had already received the other 2-quotes and that I would like to get theirs as soon as possible, so we could get the work scheduled. After waiting another 2 weeks, I could not get them to return my calls. I was driving home from out of town yesterday and I thought that I would try to reach them. I was able to get Derek, and he said they decided that they would not be taking on my project and that I should go to someone else. Waiting a total of 5+ weeks for them to turn down my job when I could have already had it scheduled and possibly even starting work is unacceptable. I am not sure why they would turn down what could have been $50K in work, but this is not cool. I would not recommend them to anyone at this point.

Luis came by a few days later to verify the measurements & remove the existing drawer "faces". He then built the new drawers & spray painted them with several coats of customer supplied paint. On installation day, Luis & his helper showed up on time and made "short work" of installing the drawers, hardware & reattaching the "faces".
