We put a large deposit down for a screened in porch build, and then they disappeared and ignored our calls. Tony Kurtz, the owner, is an absolute smooth-talking scammer. After he gave us an estimate, we put down a large deposit, and we were put on his schedule. The day we were supposed to have concrete poured, no one showed up or answered our calls. We later found out that his concrete guy cancelled for personal reasons, but Tony or his office never reached out to inform us of this because "he was on vacation in the mountains and didn't know." Because of that, he pushed our install date out. Then, a hurricane hit shortly before we were scheduled for the install, so there were understandable delays. No problems there, and we were promised by Tony that we were next in line and he would contact us asap. However, that's when he completely ghosted us. After dozens of emails, phone calls, texts and messages with no return, we were finally told by Tony that they were delaying our project so that they could instead take care of any new customers that called with hurricane damage. After we argued that we had been waiting over a year for our project, he responded that prices have gone up since our original estimate and he was no longer going to be making any money on our project so he was going to take all hurricane calls for the next several months and would get back to us in a few months. It was clear that he was taking advantage of the hurricane to charge higher costs for everyone going through insurance and our project wasn't worth his time anymore. After that call, we waited and continued to check-in for updates over the next few months, but they never returned any of our calls. We dealt with the stress of this company for over a year and we never had any work done. What a scam.

He gave a thorough and comprehensive explanation of every aspect of the window, sliding door, and front door replacement. Our first estimate did not include replacement of three trapezoidal windows and one rectangular window above the front door. Once we realized that these existing windows were not impact-resistant, I requested that they be added to the job. Rob came and did extensive measurements, then he returned again with an even more experienced expert to confirm everything. The preliminary work must have been spot on, because these trouble-windows went in with little difficulty. Except for the large section of termite-damaged wood that the installer uncovered and, of course, completely removed and replaced. Given the special geometric and installation requirements, the finished product is incredible. The installation crew was technically expert. In addition, each one had a real concern for the extensive interior memorabilia throughout the home that we were unable to relocate before the work. Everything was covered and protected from both dust and inadvertent contact. This gave us the confidence not to worry about damage, and of course there was none. The final process involved filling holes in the stucco made by the removal of ancient sliding shutters, installing new trim around the three trapezoidal windows, and touch-up painting, including the new front door. Once again, extreme care was given to protecting the inside of the house near the door and the exterior screened entrance. The work was neat and thorough, and the final cleanup was total and complete I can't recommend Armored Dade highly enough. In my relatively brief stay in Florida, I of course have not avoided the countless TV commercials for window replacement: 0% off; buy 1 get 1; get 4; etc. Rob made no mention of any "deals" at his initial visit because with a top-quality product installed by a top-quality firm, there is no need for gimmicks.

I called 10 companies as well as used the big manufacturer's "Find a Dealer" pages that send my…read moreinfo out, etc. Most of their contractors robo-responded with text messages. 6 called. 4 showed up to get measurements so they could give an estimate. Only 3 ever sent estimates. Absolute sent 3 different estimates with 3 different manufacturer options. And every one of those options was VERY competitively priced! They also made it clear we could piecemeal the work (just do doors first, then windows... or just a couple windows at first, etc). They were VERY accomodating and willing to work within any financial issue that may have been cause for concern. In the end we went with all 16 windows, a 3-panel slider, a French door, and a slider being converted to French doors being replaced with hurricane glass/windows. My windows had a bit of a catch that made the contracting a bit more problematic but they rolled with it. The office staff was amazing at every step. "Responsive" doesnt even begin to cover it. When the work finally got started, we had a slider being converted to French door, and a previously installed French door that was done improperly. They knocked out the windows within a week. When they realized the installer had issues with the French doors, they sent another team out to help. They showed up at least 3 times to fix the issues from previous contractors (not from Absolute!) shoddy work and did not leave until the work was done right. They realized THEY made a slight mistake on one French door and didnt cut corners!! They removed and replaced both doors so the job was done right!! I don't recall all their names but definitely Ginger, Joyce, Shawna, Greg, and his partner as well as the other 2 from "Crew #2" that came out for the doors.. all deserve a raise for the stuff they dealt with in regards to my particular doors and windows. Ginger would have to be top of that list. She was ALWAYS communicating. I have dealt with a lot of contractors here in SWFL and can say I have NEVER come across a company that seems to treat every portion of the process, from sales to install, as if the house being worked on was their own. The initial consultation and final measurement with Eric, was very professional and Eric went over everything that had to be done. Eric is not a salesman, he has been in this profession for years, and is the owner. It was refreshing to have someone who actually knows what the job entails and not just a salesman was refreshing. The price of the materials and installation was very competitive. The doors and windows came in earlier than expected and installation was scheduled. Chris, Mike, Aaron, Dave and Walt were here for about 5 1/2 hours. They all were experienced, professional and completed a some what difficult project. My house was built in the late 50's so everything is not standard-sizing, etc., they did have to work through several issues. Everything passed inspection. There are some scratches, marks in the glass of the kitchen window and glass panel on the back door. Oscar came and noted everything and the glass panels are in the works to be replaced. This is nothing that the company damaged, just defaults in the glass. The consultation to final measurement to installation to setting up the inspection were all stress free. Guy came by and noticed all the mistakes. said he was going to go to Home Depot to get some material and never came back. Called Anne a week later. She said that they were getting the material from the warehouse. I told her I had no Idea no one said anything. She apologized and said she'll get on it. Here is it 2 weeks later and no communications. Tried calling and no one answers my calls. seems like they are screening my calls. cant get a hold of anyone. I've let messages and nothing. He brought a window sample and brochures, discussed the process, measured, and gave us a quote. I checked some of his other reviews and the business is legit, so we hired him. Yesterday, at about the 8 week mark from start to finish, the installers completed. They did such a great job, keeping the house clean and all windows look amazing. We even had a challenging one, very tall with a giant arch, and about 6 feet wide. We also got a sliding glass door put in, and that looks wonderful too. We will be looking to upgrade our front door in the next few months, and will turn to Tom and his crew for the work. Don't hesitate to call Tom. You won't regret it.
