This ice cream shop is located on Main Street in Pass-A-Grille. FYI the street makes the claim of being the "Shortest Main Street in the Nation." This place is OK but I found the ice cream to be slightly sub-par. I'm not familiar with Working Cow ice cream but it seems to sold all over the Western side of Florida. It's OK ice cream but it could be more denser and more creamier. The best thing about this place is that it's a very short walk away from the beach. The Pass-A-Grille beach is directly across the street. Addendum after owner's 3/19 comments....Adam it's not rude, it's the truth. I never claimed Working Cow ice was sold in grocery stores. During my trip I encountered numerous ice cream shops serving that particular brand. In fact, the Don Cesar's ice cream shop serves it and that's less than a couple miles away. But you keep thinking it's special and you're the only one serving it. read more

Even though it was slightly off of the route home, we decided to check it out. So glad we did...we got there just around sunset Christmas weekend. Not crowded at all and I appreciated the marriage of coffee and ice cream this place offered. Something for the kids and adults! I tried the pass-a-chino (with toasted coconut ice cream) which is their take on a Frappuccino...so delish and refreshing...it hit the spot! Good ice cream. Small store with small amount of seating (8 chairs, 3 tables), but the ice cream really did feel much more high quality than any store bought ice cream I've gotten before. I got a three scoop of the black cherry, coconut, and birthday cake. The flavors were all very true to the real things. The black cherry had black cherries in it, the coconut had coconut flakes, and the birthday cake had actual cake in it. I also got to try a little of peach that my friend got and it was so yummy! Paradise Sweets is truly a special place in Pass A Grille. Lots of sweets shops and coffee shops around St. Pete come and go - but I think Paradise Sweets is on 8th Avenue for the long run. The Working Cow ice cream that they serve is truly excellent. Personal favorite is Birthday Cake - vanilla ice cream with sprinkles that taste like chunks of icing, chock full of big hunks of cake. My mouth waters just thinking about it. The ONLY bad thing I can say about Paradise Sweets is that sometimes (for example, during the busy July 4th holiday) they run out of some of their best flavors of ice cream. This actually makes me happy, because it means business is booming for them. Their espresso-based drinks are truly out of this world. I am a latte MANIAC - I have had hundreds of coffee stops all around the country. The espresso beans that they use are truly top notch - and I believe the owners actually roast their own beans, every day! The espresso is carmel-y, smooth, delicious, and perfect. They have TONS of syrup options here - the toasted almond and caramel are two of my favorites. If you really want to go nuts - combine the two best things that Paradise Sweets has going for them - ice cream and espresso. Yes, that IS possible, and is, in fact, one of their specialties. Pass-a-cinos are something that I dream about all year, and crave as soon as I get to Pass-A-Grille. One of the boys who is always working at Paradise Sweets actually invented this beverage (I am sorry that I can't remember his name!) You can order ANY ice cream that they have, which is then blended with the amazing espresso and a bit of milk. Trust me - it is magical. You will never want to have a plain old frappucino again. I think one of the best combos I have had was with the cookies and cream ice cream - mmmmmm. They have a nice outside sitting area if it isn't too hot outside. Paradise Sweets serves the best coffee on the beach. Period. As a certifiable coffee snob from Seattle, I am always hunting for great coffee when I travel. After wasting money on 2 other coffee shops in the area, I was about to give up on great coffee in South Pinellas until I found Paradise - literally. The owner roasts his own beans, and the result is espresso that's velvety smooth and delicious - it would hold up against any of the great micro-roasters in the Northwest. Paradise serves all the traditional coffee-house drinks, like espresso, lattes and some of their own unique blends. They also have tons of ice cream and other daytime treats. But to me, Paradise Sweets' coffee is the star. Local owners who are the kind of people you root for - passionate, dedicated, and very customer-oriented. You can even buy the beans and take them home. If I lived anywhere near St Pete, Paradise would be my daily coffee stop. The ice cream is really good here, and they also sell candies, coffees, and other hot drinks. The ice cream brand is Working Cow, which is a locally company selling their own locally made ice cream. There's a wide variety of flavors, something for everyone, and there are fat free and sugar free flavors too. Most importantly, the ice cream is FRESH. It doesn't have a gnarly skin on it or frozen ice shards from sitting around languishing in the freezer. Staff has always been nice and more than willing to give free samples. I REALLY appreciate that they give samples on metal spoons which are then washed rather than plastic single-use spoons. Way more sea-turtle friendly, not to mention safer for all living creatures. A trip to Pass-A-Grille Beach isn't complete without a scoop of ice cream from Paradise Sweets. Watch out for the seagulls! They'll swoop right down and take your treat away! read more

When you fist approach, you will first notice a covered porch on your way in with a collection of chairs I've only seen in a store. Tall, bar height ones, smaller patio sized ones. It was great fun to walk through. Before we even got in the door we had struck up a conversation with a bunch of folks just hanging out. This patio makes you friendly. Eye on the prize, eye on the prize. I thought it was a bakery but to my surprise they did more. In addition to the many sweets they also had a bunch of tasty ice creams, of which I had the roasted coconut. Now I am no fan of the coconut but this was incredible! I also got a warm mocha to knock it back with and be awake enough for dinner. Overall a great little stop when you need a break from crowds and want to watch the sun set. We stop in every time we go to Pass a Grille. The hardest part is deciding whether to go with the Salted Caramel (which is so good it's a bit offensive) or try something else, just for variety. As someone who enjoys ice cream, I was excited to try his place after all the glittering reviews. However, I wasn't raving like my fellow comrades. The ice cream was sickenly sweet and not the quality I'm used. I've been spoiled by the variety offered in Orlando. However, the toasted coconut flavor was delicious and the portion amount surprising. I ordered a small cup and to me it was more of a medium serving which was nice. I'd honestly go back for the toasted coconut flavor, its good. Its the only ice cream shop on the beach and I'm glad I'm there. The establishment was dirty and the staff was not very welcoming to kids. As a result, I did not tip and will not give them any additional business. I would rather do without ice cream than patronize such an establishment. If possible, I would post 0 stars! Evidently they do not need the patronage of senior citizens either. My neighbor reported being in the store as a van from a retirement community pulled to the curb. The employee's comment was, "Oh no, here these people come again." We stopped in for ice cream, got 3 different kinds all in waffle cones, 4 in total, they only had 3 waffle cones left so they asked me if I minded waiting 10 mins so they can make us the fourth waffle cone, they could of just said we are out, instead they made me one for my ice cream.
