I can't believe I've lived in San Antonio for almost 10 years and I had never visited Bandera…read moreCounty Park at Medina Lake. A few friends and I were looking for a nearby lake where we could fish, take our pets and do a cookout. After some research and reading a lot of reviews on Yelp and other websites, we decided to visit Medina Lake. I noticed a few people mentioned it was "closed", but I believe that is why because they were trying to enter the lake through the south entrance of the lake which is managed by homeowners. Here are my recommendations for everyone visiting the lake: - This lake is first come first serve. I highly recommend getting early so you can grab a nice spot near the water. - There is NO shade whatsoever, so I highly recommend everyone to bring a tent (or two) so you can comfortably enjoying your time there. - The water was super clear and shallow, so it's perfect for children and pets. Make sure to bring your swimsuit and cool off at the lake. - There are a few grills near the bathroom area, but if you have a portable grill just bring it. - Fishing was not the best at this lake. I think Lake Medina is more of a chill and enjoy the water kinda lake. One of my friends was really looking forward doing some fishing, but he was kinda disappointed. Overall I think this lake is a nice (and affordable) option to do something out of the city.

Our first time taking the boat to Medina Lake and this is where we came to launch it. Hubby…read moreremembered coming here once maybe 40 years ago with his cousin to launch their boat. We had a sticker price shock... $15 Launch Fee $10 additional car parking We weren't going to shop around, we are here and we are going to get on the water NOW! Lol. Well, come to find out, there really isn't much of a choice on this lake so just come prepared. Plus there is a lock box for overnight or early launches. If you are going to be gone on the water for the weekend, the charge is per day. The boat ramp itself and dock are great. The older lady at the counter that helped us both before the launch and afterwards with our burger order was really nice and helpful. Huge indoor patio with huge fans plus a nice outdoor patio surrounded by tropical plants. I could see this being a great place to enjoy a band on Sat nights. Red's does not have gas (although sign says they do) but we were told the marina down the street does. We didn't need it right then but was checking for the future. We made a note to always pre-purchase gas... in Hondo, Castroville, or Lakehills coming from the other direction about 10 miles as there aren't any stations around in the country roads that we traveled on getting there. I would suggest getting their to Red's early as parking is limited. We were there on Sat 31 Mar about 2pm and it was already packed. I can't imagine what it's like in the summer time. I'm sure we'll be back again as soon as we have a free weekend. Happy Boating!

It was well worth a little scenic drive and the knowledge of the whereabouts. We will definitely be eating out there soon as they are open again. We are not exactly sure why they are closed because of the lake being low maybe? However it looked beautiful out there and even though the roads were windy and narrow, it was great! 7-30-22

The perfect place for a relaxing day with the family!…read more I've been coming to Paradise Canyon since I was 5 years old, and although I hadn't visited since 2019, I was able to bring my family today. It was just as beautiful as I remembered. This place truly lives up to its name. Paradise Canyon is privately owned, family-oriented, and offers something for everyone. There are shallow areas where kids can safely swim and play, as well as deeper sections for adults who want to swim or practice their strokes. The grounds are well maintained, the restrooms are clean, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. It's the kind of place where you can spend the entire day relaxing and making memories with your family. I would recommend Paradise Canyon again and again. It's a true Texas gem.

It was crowded but still a great time, we expected that. I had an encounter with one of the older staff, Laura - she was rude, condescending and incredibly impatient with my responses. Zero customer service skills, highly encourage the owners to train her up in how to speak to customers. I understand it was a busy day, but she seemed to be the only one who was in a horrible mood. If you can't control your emotions on the busiest days, then customer service based careers should not be your job. She seemed upset when I said we would only spend a few hours there, she rolled her eyes at me (I have 3 small children). She seemed upset that I had to move my car to a better parking spot even tho SHE asked me to and I happily obliged. She seemed annoyed that someone parked me in and I asked if she could direct me to their table so that I could ask them to let me out and then proceeded to speak to me like I don't know how to drive a vehicle. All around very rude.
