My son stayed and his fee shot up an additional $30 a month since we were getting a discount for the girls attending too. The place can get pretty crowded and they don't have many seating areas. That doesn't really bother me as I usually eat nearby while he is in class. All in all I hope my son continues to want to go here. It is a good workout and his coaches seem good to him.

You will not get a black belt in a year, which is the way it should be. This is also not a meathead or tough guy training center. Respect and courtesy are foundations of the program itself. Finally, I feel that Hap Ki Do is fantastic for youths and adults of any age. The system provides you with the ability to fall properly without injury, escape attacks and promotes an overall wellness of health and mind. I have used the falling techniques numerous times in my normal life and walked away with little to no harm done at all. I dropped in with some friends for a Sunday gi class with Coach Jose Ramirez who taught some awesome spider guard details. The curriculum and teaching approach was fantastic. All the students and teachers there were so welcoming and accommodating and helpful. The facilities are top notch. The mats are super clean. They have showers, and I think even a sauna. Culture is often the most important part of any combat sport academy and West Coast MMA has it in spades. Thoroughly enjoyed my time there and would 100% recommend this academy to anyone, whether they are experienced competitors, brand new to Jiu Jitsu or combat training, or anything in between. There is so much to love about this for kids and adults. Besides the instruction and great customer service, there is this feeling of family. Everybody supports your progress. For kids, there is a fun, playful yet disciplined learning environment. Every class has a mat chat in which topics like bullying are discussed along with how to properly introduce yourself and make a new friend. Adults, get ready to get challenged, feel empowered and lose some extra pounds. I honestly don't know why I didn't join sooner. After the first family member is signed up, there is a discount offered for each additional family member. It's a no brainer! I can go on and on, but come see for yourself!
