My daughter danced here for almost two years and really enjoyed her instructor, Ms. Zoe. The studio itself is clean, welcoming, and we always had positive interactions with the staff. Ultimately, we decided to move on because my daughter has lost interest in dance, but there were a few things that became difficult for us over time. The studio follows the local school holiday schedule closely while continuing to charge full monthly tuition during breaks, which is something prospective families may want to be aware of. Recital tickets were also around $40 each, which felt expensive to us, especially considering the performances were held at a local high school auditorium. We also personally hoped to see a bit more choreography and variety in the younger beginner classes' recital performances given the overall cost. My daughter recently started at TDC, and her teacher, shoutout to Ms. Ray, is absolutely incredible. She's patient, positive, and you can truly tell she loves what she does. My daughter looks forward to every class because of her. However, the front desk experience has been disappointing. Ms. Chantal often seems to be in a very unpleasant mood, and while I initially brushed it off, it's been consistent week after week. Unfortunately, it creates a draining energy when we walk in. My daughter wanted to get into dance and being a former dancer myself I was actually so excited now mind you she's four so I didnt expect much. And it was cute to see her enjoying it etc. Then rehearsals for the bi-yearly performance came and boy did I melt with regret. The teenagers still need their teacher off to the side to remember choreography. Not only that the studio basically hood winks the audience by not lighting the teacher off to the side. Now what do I do my daughter loves it her teachers are sweet but I don't think it benefits her. So I continue a few months until she gets bored. I am not here to invest years into studio that teaches nothing but lies and vanity for superficial gain. Not to mention I try to cancel and I guess in the contract I have pay an additional month. I just had my daughter cry and leave early from class today. This review is for Ms. Chantel. First of all I've paid a lot of money for classes that my daughter has not attended. They close for spring break, Memorial Day week, the whole week for holidays, and random weeks so they can plan and work. To do makeups doesn't really help with their recitals since each class performs a different dance. My daughter missed 1 week and was going to miss 2 more weeks due to family situations and the Memorial Day week when they're closed so I decided still doing a makeup could help my daughter with the moves. Her normal teacher ms. Chloe is great. She knows how to work with children and is patient. Ms. Chantel made my daughter feel so bad she said she needed to use the restroom just to get out and cry. I know she didn't need to use the restroom because I took her to potty right before class. My daughter isn't perfect and was probably not listening at times but she is 4. You would expect an instructor who works with kids would have a more gentle approach. My daughter was excited for the recital and loved ballet but now she is asking to stop which is really sad to see. read more

I had such positive experiences while my daughter was attending the Boppin Babies class. We loved the instructor, Moriah. She was amazing and made sure everyone was able to participate. My daughter loves music and the class really helped her get in a comfort zone when it came to rhythm and beats. It was also helpful with her gross motors skills. Every class had a little obstacle course to help toddlers learn balance and develop muscles used for running, walking and, of course, dancing. read more

I signed my daughter up for one of the classes at the studio. She has been enjoying the classes and making new friends. She has been working hard on her recital dance for weeks and we were excited to watch her perform. I was very disappointed with the company and recital. First, we had to pay a $100 recital fee. It did included a "costume" which was black t-shirt with a non-exciting logo on it. I feel like for $100, they should have given the kids something better than a $4 t-shit mart shirt. We also paid $120 for 3 tickets at $40 each. One was for my 3 year old son because they didn't offer kids ticked pricing. I thought that was an outrageous price for a local high school theater. I heard other parents say the same thing. When my daughter got on stage, her teacher was standing right in front of her so I couldn't even see her dance at all. I wanted to cry at that point. This recital was so poorly put together that I felt bad for other parents too. The music would mess up halfway though some of the dances or the wrong music would play. We were also instructed for our kids to only wear the t-shirt and black pants. There were kids on stage dressed in holiday tutus, socks, crazy hair accessories you name it and the studio let them perform in their non-permitted outfits. I decided that I was going to pull my daughter out of dance at this studio. read more

Before I jump into my review, I want to make it clear that I am not an employee of TDC, nor do I have a personal relationship with any TDC employees outside of the studio. We just wrapped up our first year with TDC and what an amazing experience for my 3 year old daughter! From the first phone call in August to schedule a trial class all the way to the recital in June, we had nothing but one positive experience after another. I have to admit that I am quite surprised by the negative reviews on Yelp, because we signed up after multiple recommendations from happy customers. The instructor and coordinator, Carli, is amazing with young children. She has endless patience, choreographs routines that are age appropriate yet challenge the dancers, builds their skills from the fundamentals up, and really has a knack for refocusing 3-4 year old kids, which can truly be like herding kittens. This was one of my daughter's first experiences having to listen to an adult that wasn't me (after mommy-and-me Gymboree and Kindermusik classes) and Karli truly helped her develop skills that will carry into multiple aspects of her life. Gretchen, who mans the front desk at the Camarillo location and helps coordinate just about everything, is an absolute joy. She is ready to greet the customers with a smile every week and is always kind, approachable, and professional. If there is ever an issue or concern, Gretchen will work tirelessly to help sort out the details. Overall, we have been nothing short of thrilled with TDC. The culmination of everything, of course, was the recital, which was well organized, professional and adorable. It was worth every penny. Thank you for a great year, TDC! read more

Amazing instructors, GREAT studio! My daughter has danced with The Dance Company for 6 years and TDC is her second home and family. The high quality instruction she receives by the top level professional dancers and choreographers on the TDC staff is unmatched in our area. Extremely unprofessional! They write down EVERYBODY'S credit card info on post-it notes & claim it's safe since they "keep them in the office" If any parent cares about fraud, do not spend your money here! Also no one is at the front desk to help anyone....the place is just completely unorganized. read more

My 4yr old is taking hip hop and tap and loves it. I like that the classes are 30min which is perfect for her age/attention span. She loves the songs too. The teacher has been nice and the front counter lady. I havent had any problems. I do find it slightly expensive for it being a 30min class which is why I'm giving a 4 star. Other than that everyone's been kind, everything is clean. I like that the waiting area has AC. It is weird the dance studio doesnt though, not sure why that is. I saw a previous review complaint about mean kids. Though if the teacher saw it she should address it, if she didnt and the parent did then the parent should address it with either the teacher or parent of the other child? Weird to write a bad review on what another child says to your child. I would've just said something to the parent, or front office person and have them talk to the parent. Another review talked about them writing CC info on sticky notes? I registered online but I've never seen a sticky note with CC info but if that's true, that isnt safe and a new filing system is needed. Anyway, I'm satisfied over all. I recommend it. read more

I am not an employee for The Dance Company. My daughter took lessons here when she was just starting out and stayed on until we moved out of the area. She fell in love with dance here. We returned to the area and came back to TDC. During the time we were away, her skills fell behind a little because we were in a small-town area. Upon returning, she wanted to continue competing but her level was just not quite where it needed to be. The instructors at TDC worked with her and she came a long way. She is happily competing again and I could not be more thrilled with The Company. If you are concerned (as another reviewer wrote) that your child will not learn anything, come watch a few of the older classes and you will see the level of talent this studio cultivates. More importantly they teach strong life lessons that will benefit the dancers outside of the studio. The camaraderie is very apparent. I highly recommend this studio. read more

Love this studio!! Fantastic program for both competitive and recreational dancers. My daughter has been a part of their program for the last four years, the last three as part of the studio's competition team. The owner of the studio and her teaching staff promote a family friendly environment that encourages students in a positive manner and teaches them the importance of teamwork while developing individual skills. The choreography is top notch and the studio puts on an spectacular recital. My daughter loves it here. She has made amazing friends, gained poise & confidence, and has developed into a beautiful dancer. We are very happy with The Dance Company and grateful that they opened this second location here in Camarillo. (The original location is still open in Moorpark for those of you closer to that city). read more

Our family loves The Dance Company!! My kids have been taking dance here for many years. They run a top-notch studio and are not only nurturing to their students as young dancers, but as young, developing people as well. The owner and staff really work hard to foster an inclusive environment - no catty-ness or ultra competitiveness (like we've seen at other studios). My kids are welcomed back by the teachers and other students every year and they look forward to starting their new classes every fall. We tried other dance studios in the county, but stopped looking when we found The Dance Company (we go to the Camarillo studio, and my friend loves the Moorpark TDC just as much). They are the best! Great recital every year, and fantastic training for all levels - from beginner to pre-professional. read more
