Hire people that that understand people with kids under the age of 10 should hire a babysitter and not bring their kids to violent R rated movie like Scream 7 and children under the age of 13 should be left home. I will never return. I went to see the SpongeBob movie and payed for my tickets online to end up not being refundable. I understand it's an older and smaller theater but it was absolutely horrible! I asked if they could fix the movie picture on the screen because it was way wayyy too small. When you walk into the theater it's like a ramp with seats with the movie screen really high making an uncomfortable setting for your neck. The Paramount is a treasure. If you just go in to look it's worth it. This well kept up 1914 theater is a joy to behold. and an architectural gem for Rutland. The Paramount has a line up of programs to please anyone. And they have HD opera from the Met!! I attended Manon last night and will not miss another HD showing. It's been years since I've gone out to a movie theater - or any theater - for anything. But this is different, exceptional programs with comfortable seating, easy parking, and a thrill just being in this lovely theater. I have become an instant fan and have become a theater goer again just because this place is an opportunity to enjoy something special. read more

Bought tickets online on paramounts website to see a movie about a week before it was showing. A few days after I bought them I checked to see if I still had them just to be sure. I couldn't find them. Logged into the website where they were saved and they were gone. Couldn't find the confirmation email and there was no money taken out from my bank. Zero evidence that I bought them so I bought them again. After I bought them the second time everything popped up. I got both confirmation emails, two charges pending in my back and they were now listed under my account on the website. I was pissed. Tried calling a few days before to ask about it no one answered. They have like 3 different number to call and nobody answered any of them. So I waited when I was going to the movies and asked the ladies at the both about it to get a refund because on their website it says you have to do show your card used for the purchase at the theater and they said they don't do refunds in person for me to go online to submit a refund. I thought okay maybe I just missed it on the website. So partway through the movie I'm looking it up and can't find anywhere to submit a refund. After the movie ended I went out to talk to someone at the counter about it again and nobody was there. Waited for like 15 minutes and still nobody came out anywhere so I left pissed thinking I'd call the next day. And again nobody will answer my calls. They whole thing is absolutely ridiculous. They're very unhelpful and seemed like they were Jiping me out of a refund by making me run in a circle. So I bought 8 tickets when I meant to buy 4 and can't seem to get a refund at all when I tried so hard to get one before the start date of the movie. Usually a fine movie theater, however had an unfortunate experience this week. I took my family to see a film on Tuesday evening for their $5 deal. We already had one of their movie club cards to use for this. We get there and the two employees are struggling with the three registers which seem to be down. They state that they cannot take credit cards momentarily but are working to fix it. No problem, I suggest I pay for some snacks for my family with cash, which I have just enough of, and pay for the tickets on my way out. I offer leaving a credit card or license as collateral. They continue to wrestle with the machine getting who I assume to be a manager on the phone. However I hear the manager then tell them that they canNOT let anyone into the movie without paying. Long story short, I have to jog down the street to the ATM while the movie starts and my family waits. Good practice for ANY business in this situation is to let the few people who are already in line and expected to be able to buy tickets with the stated accepted forms of payment through for free (especially if they already bought food!) and put out a "Cash Only" sign outside ASAP until the problem is rectified. Especially for a movie theater, though, which stands to lose nothing for letting people into a nearly empty cinema who can and want to pay, and stands to lose a lot of customer good will by turning them away. I could tell one of the employees would have been more helpful if her manager would have let her. Unfortunately, a fish rots from the head down. read more

OK, honestly my review is a little tainted. I typically HATE going to the movies, but it was a Tuesday night, a tornado warning and there is major construction going on in downtown Barre. I asked my husband if he wanted to go see "The Dictator", so we went. I was a little unsure where to park, due to the construction, but I got a spot right next to the theater. They were offering 1 free small popcorn per admission, during the construction, which was nice. The man who runs the concession stand is a little creepy, and didn't put ice in the soda, but I guess you get more soda for your buck that way. We were the ONLY two people in the theater, so I was really happy! It does get busy on weekend nights, and it is a TINY theater, but it is historic. We used the rear exit and popped out right next to my car, which was great, as it was pounding down rain. read more
