It is very strange to me that this practice either gets 1 s or 5 s. How can they be both? My lst visit was a total body check and I felt the doctor was very thorough. Having worked for many years as a nurse in an established derm practice in Monterey I am quite familiar with "skin issues" and care. I recently had to get in for a pretty urgent issue and they were able to give me an appointment with in a couple of days which was great. Dr. Bonante took a look at my issue, ordered some blood tests but was in and out of the room relatively quickly. She is businesslike and not from what I could see very personable but perhaps she was having a bad day. So my rating is middle of the road for now, we shall see how she addresses my concerns when she sees the blood work. read more

I live 18 miles from the office. I left my house early. I get stuck in traffic that caused my 18 mile trip to take over 90 minutes. I call to let them know I am going to be about 15 minutes late. I speak with someone named Morgan. She tells me I will not be seen so should not bother coming in and tries to reschedule me. I let her know my frustration and asked how it was that last time I was in I waited over 45 minutes to be seen plus the appointment time equaling over an hour. So apparently it's OK for them to be late to my appointment and my time is not as valuable as theirs. Got it. She then explains they see over 50 patients a day, etc. So I am supposed to accept their excuse for being late, but mine is dismissed. Got it. She then tells me she will be sending a $75 cancellation fee bill to me. Really? She tells me about their 10 minute policy that if a patient will be more than 10 minutes late to the appointment they will be refused. I guess I need to put in writing that my policy is that if the doctor is more than 40 minutes late to my appointment I charge a $75 fee. Then she asks if I want to reschedule. Nope. My whole family are patients. I should say my whole family were patients. My wife called and cancelled all upcoming appointments for our entire family based on the principle. Save yourself the headache and money if for forbid there is a traffic accident or issue on your appointment day as you will be met with a monotone dismissive conversation on the other end along with a $75 missed appointment fee. So hopefully it was worth losing thousands of dollars in future visits over $75. read more

Dr Bolante is only interested in $$$. I waited 8 months for a full exam. I had one area of concern and wanted some basic skin care recommendations. Exam was 45 minutes late and when she was in there for less than 5 minutes she was very cold. The exam was a joke! She spent more time on my toes than she did for my whole body, all of which took literally 2 minutes. She gave me a prescription for Rosecea with no explanation and I was then told I would have to schedule a cosmetic exam for anything else. Then she says that infected cyst I have that was my main reason for going would not be covered by insurance because it's "cosmetic " and if I wanted insurance to pay I would have to go back to my GYN who sent me to see a dermatologist. BUT if I pay $1200 cash she could help me. So whole visit worthless. read more

Changed my appointment without notification then charged me for the no show! Very rude and toxic front desk. Attitude in office poor to many patients a day, was told over 300 generally for all procedures. I don't recommend this office. The worst appointment booking call I've ever experienced. I recently called this dermatology office after moving from Southern California to Carmel, looking for a good dermatologist. Unfortunately, my experience was frustrating and disappointing. When I first called, I was told they weren't accepting new patients. I explained that my family had been seeing them for years and had recommended I call, at which point they softened and said they could book me -- but the first available appointment would be in April 2026, nine months away. When I mentioned I had a spot of concern on my nose, they said they could see me sooner for that specific issue -- but they made it very clear they would not perform a full body scan at that visit, only address the spot. I told them that sounded odd, as I've had full body scans three times a year for the past decade, and they never took more than five minutes. But the staff insisted "that's just how it is here." They did collect my name, phone number, email, and other details, but when I mentioned my insurance (Blue Cross Premier), they informed me they didn't accept it -- after the entire conversation. The entire process felt disorganized, rigid, and dismissive. I've seen dermatologists my whole adult life and have never experienced anything like this. My advice: save yourself the time and frustration and look elsewhere. read more

I am so appreciative and thankful for Dr. Bolante who is the most knowledgeable dermatologist hands down. She is outstanding. Every situation (some emergencies) she was accurate with her diagnosis and prescriptions. I am so glad I followed her from her previous location. Dr. Bolante was my dermatologist at another facility and I really liked her but did not realize she started her own business and lost touch. When a friend told me about her new clinic I eagerly called to get an appt. The 1st thing The receptionist asked was what service did I need, when I explained and then said I was a former patient she said she was not taking new patients. Why did she care what service I needed if she wasn't taking new patients? Sounded very unprofessional and unfriendly to me. I hope Dr. Bolante sees this! read more

I'd rather complement than complain however I think people need to be aware of what they're stepping into. After waiting months for an appointment, when I was the only one in the office, the doctor spent under five minutes with me. When I asked her to look at my back for me, she told me I needed to schedule another appointment for a full body scan. When I inquired about making that appointment, it was going to be 10 months in the future. Her demeanor was as cold as an iceberg, her insightfulness was trite, and her sense of caring was zero. I know there's a shortage of Dermatologist in this area however i'd rather have no care than what she is offering. read more

The question what could improve is a loaded one. First they need to hire a friendlier receptionist because Morgan not only has a stoic face but has no patience at all. When you walk in there is no warmth or friendliness it is strictly business. I currently take Accutane also known as Isotretin. Well not many prescribers write prescription for Accutane but Christine Bolante isn't the only doctor in the area to prescribe that medication. I originally had an appointment for July 2 but I got my dates wrong and went July 1 I admit that. When I went to check in Morgan conveyed that my appointment was on the 2nd and I was being friendly and tried to joke with her saying I forgot. I left but then I decided well I'm here let me see if I can be seen what's the worst they'll say is no. Well I asked if she could ask the manager if I could be seen and she informed me the manager was not there and she'd have to interrupt the doctor and that could take some time. I told her that's okay I'll wait. She then came back and told me that there were surgeries that day and those took precedence over me. That was unnecessary she mad me feel I was not important. Moving forward. There as a gentlemen waiting to be seen and he asked how long would he be and Morgan said, " incisions usually take about an hour". When I heard that I thought I don't think I can wait that long I have to go to work. When I went up to ask Morgan about being seen this is what transpired. I said being that man isn't going to be about an hour I don't think I can wait she then rudely said I can't give you patient information. I told her I didn't ask for patient information I heard what you said and she had the nerve to say she didn't say that. Um I'm not a mind reader last time I checked so how else would I know what procedure he was having done of it didn't come from her. She didn't let me speak she kept interrupting with the same sentence that she couldn't give patient information yet I never asked for it. I finally said just give me back my copay which I had asked her earlier why I had a copay if I already met my deductible but she didn't want to help and said the system prompts for me to ask you for one. She kept going on about me asking about the patients information I reiterated I didn't ask for the patients information and if you would listen instead of interrupting you'd hear what I was saying. She then said the point I was trying to make was and I cut her off and said I don't car what you have to say just give me back my money I will not be coming back here. I asked her for the managers card and she said it's the same number you call to make an appointment then I had to ask her what was the managers name. I didn't realize asking for a card was too much. I told her to cancel my appointment and she said consider it cancelled very rudely. I called later to speak to the manager and all Morgan said was she's not available but I can take your name and birth date and give a message. Well I didn't trust her to do so and asked to be transferred to Christine Bolante voicemail. Later Christine did call me but she was not very empathetic and kept saying this was the fist time she ever had a negative complaint about Morgan. I highly doubt that but anyways I told her I'm the patient and she needs to learn patience. It's in the word. I also told Mrs. Bolante that Morgan's never really worked with my schedule for appointments and then she said Morgan was having a conversation with a patient and I overheard. Well of course I heard Morgan had that conversation with the patient in the front area what was I supposed to do close my ears. If Morgan didn't want me to hear then she should've taken the patient into a room and addressed his question. I expressed that I know Morgan's word would carry more weight but I'm a person not just a chart and I have a voice which will be heard. All Christine Bolante said was Morgan probably had a one off day and she'd talk to her about her tone. Do I believe her probably not. I've been a patient there for about 3 yrs now and they have a high turn over on the receptionist. So if she found one that has lasted I doubt she'll speak to her. I finally realized Christine Bolante who is the dermatologist there was not listening and informed her I would no longer have her as my dermatologist. Even the times I did go for my appointments all she really did was write a prescription for me medicine but didn't really take the time to offer other options. So if you're looking for friendly receptions and dermatologist that cares and doesn't see you as just a chart don't go to this place. read more

It was pleasant meeting Dr. Bolante she was very kind and informative. Her staff is very friendly and warm. The wait was not long at all and check in was fairly easy and quick. It's very clean and updated inside and overall you can just tell she truly cares about her patients. For someone like me that is always nervous/anxious. BEWARE - I'm going to stick to the facts here as to keep this as clean and clear as possible. - May of 2024 - Called to make an appointment to see Dr for review of potential melanoma (was told soonest I could be seen was the end of August) so hand delivered my report to their offices the very next day for their records. - August 2024 - saw doctor who scolded me during my appointment for "waiting so long to see her" (I had shared that I was recovering from an urgent surgery and it took Parasol some time to get me scheduled) and told me they would get my labs and reports and have them sent to UCSF for someone to look at. That she wanted to see me again every 3-6 months for checks. - that same day - tried to make a follow up appointment and was told the soonest available appointment was August of 2025. Yes, more than a year later. - *waiting waiting waiting for 8 weeks (now end of October 2024 to hear these updated reports...they neglected to even follow up that entire time. It completely fell through the cracks in their office and took me 2 weeks of speaking to 3 different people and making calls to their offices every 2-3 days to finally take care of what they had said they would do 8 weeks earlier. - -*waiting yet again, now end of December 2024, and zero follow up or follow through. I had to re-explain to someone the entire situation yet again and they just have no idea what or why there is no follow-through and asked me if I personally happened to call UCSF to follow up?!! I have a log of every call, email, and communication with Parasol. Be aware you may need to advocate and follow up for yourself. I am sad to say that this has to be the most negligent follow through I have ever experienced. UPDATE - finally heard back from the Doctor who was kind, but/and I hope addresses this with whomever is responsible for the gap in care. read more

Excellent Botox treatments, flawless results. I have had many suspicious moles removed by Dr. Bolante and a few treatments to remove red veins from my face. Excellent results. Terrible! Dr. Bolante doesn't check for skin cancer unless you schedule an actual skin cancer exam. She charges separately for each visit and in your annual scans she doesn't check for anything like eczema or other things. You must schedule separate visits for those things. Her receptionist completely violated the HPPA privacy law. She used my name and shouted across the waiting room that my results was just a wart! She revealed to the entire waiting room that I have a wart and that was embarrassing, not to mention illegal. On my next visit, this unprofessional receptionist was now the medical assistant. I was terribly uncomfortable with her. Dr. Bolante was rude and unprofessional. THE WORST PROVIDER I have ever encountered. I would never recommend her or her office. I will be reporting her HPPA privacy violation. read more

When I first found Dr. Bolante many years ago in another practice I was thrilled, and followed her when she left to open Parasol. However, my experience there has become worse with each appointment, and I'm now finished with this office. First a work conflict arose, and when I called to reschedule my appointment I was told the next available appointment was 7 months later. I ended up missing an important work meeting because I needed my skin issue resolved. During my appointment Dr. Bolante spent 80% of the time entering info into her tablet and maybe 20% of the time actually looking at me or listening to my concerns and questions. She was very dismissive and did not fully explain what my skin issue was, just prescribed a Rx. Then to add to the insult, the Rx was sent to a pharmacy I have never used in my life, but I was told by staff that they sent it there because that's the pharmacy I had told them to use. No way! It took several calls to get the Rx issue sent to the correct pharmacy but they still managed to sent it to the wrong location! I gave up and contacted the pharmacy itself to get the Rx transferred to the correct location. I will not be returning to Parasol. read more

Dr . Bolante and her staff have been very professional and courteous. Dr. Bolante identified a melanoma during an exam and excised it once her suspicions were confirmed via biopsy. I am so thankful for her competence. And,she has a beautiful office too. Extremely bummed because I have heard extremely good things in regards to Dr. Bolante. I was originally referred through my PCP and was told they didn't accept my current insurance. So I called back and asked if they took self pay / out of pocket new patients. They told me yes but they couldn't see me because it would be fraud. I called my insurance and they told me that that wasn't so. I could be seen anywhere that offers self pay if I decide to not go with an in network practice. Worst business ethic ever! The office decided on its own to reschedule my appointment without my consent, and then they're considering to charge me $75 for a no-show! Word of advice for management, don't reschedule an appointment without the patient's consent. Call, email, and send a business postcard of the cancellation and encourage the patient to call to reschedule. The office has lost a client and I will share my experience with friends and family. Further knowledge for the business---acquiring a new customer can cost five to seven times more than retaining an old one. read more

Showed up for skin exam appt today that I scheduled 9 mos ago and told since they aren't contracted with Medical as secondary insurance, I couldn't be seen ... 'policy.' Wow! Are you serious? I've had Mohs, I have concerning spots on my skin, I've waited this long to get on Medicare that Parasol accepts, and I'm told when I walk in that I can't be seen. WHY didn't someone tell me before? I was told that I must have not had Medical when I made the appointment. I didn't even know I had secondary insurance, and btw, who cares if I pay the balance after Medicare or if Medical pays it. The other thing that really irks me is the office mgr who is too chicken to come and talk to a patient (me), in tears by this point, and humiliated in front of a waiting room full of other patients. No, she or he sends the front desk staff back out to tell me again, 'sorry, the policy is ...' Newsflash - policy is not black and white, it's gray. Every person's situation is different and needs to be treated as such. Now I have to wait how long... another six mos to get an appt elsewhere? If anything serious is found on my skin, I'm blaming Parasol. Horrible policy and horrible customer service. Wish there was a zero star rating. read more
