The parking lot was full so people were parking on the street, no problem since it's not downtown or anything. When we walked in there was a waiver on an iPad to enter your personal info, the form was tedious and I noticed people just gave up as did I. Free for kids under 4!! Despite the full parking lot it was orderly inside and everyone was thankfully going in the same direction (counter clockwise) There are some small ramps along the track in the inner loop. My son got a boo boo and they had a box of free and aids. They also have another large room for advanced ramps for the bigger kiddos who are more adventurous. Tip: If you want to ride next to your child, bring some roller blades or a scooter so you can catch up with him but don't forget your helmet (mandatory for kids and adults)

The ascent to the top can be taxing if you take the pathway that includes the stairs. I would recommend taking one of the trails up to pace yourself and enjoy the journey to the scenic views. The park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the legendary Landscape Architect who also designed New York's Central Park, and the grounds for Stanford...the impressive list goes on. You really get the impression that this park was thoughtfully designed and planned to harmonize with the native species of plants. There are two Belvederes where you can view the city. We ventured up to Kondiaronk Belvedere and were treated to sweeping views of the city. If you are looking for a postcard-perfect view of Montreal, this is it! Mount Royal Park is a must-do and was definitely one of the highlights of our Canadian trip. Don't miss this park, it's immersive qualities are outstanding and your are rewarded with incredible views if you persevere to the top!

The ice didn't look to be the most maintained (skating could be challenging), but there was such a wonderful crowd embracing winter around here. The pond, the small waterfall, the cobble-stone paths, the library (now over 100 years old), the green spaces, the variety of huge, mature trees which give plenty of shade, you can easily pick up lunch on the go on Sherbrooke street and come over and spend an afternoon here spread out on a blanket, either chilling out with a great friend or a great book. It's also popular with skateboarders as it's the only public park in Montreal where skateboarding is not prohibited. The park is located in present-day Quartier des Spectacles (the Entertainment District) what was formerly "The Red Light District." The area has retained some of its rough edges so to speak. Although the name literally translates to "Place of Peace" it's more commonly known by Anglophones as "Peace Park." It opened in 1994 and Jean Doré was the mayor at the time. He helped make Montreal a Nuclear-Weapon-Free-Zone and he wanted to build a place to signify peace and remember the tragedies of nuclear warfare. It's not a park I ever frequented while I was living in Montreal. I would just walk past it. I don't skateboard (besides, the skateboarding prohibition was only lifted in 2015 long after I left Montreal) and if there's no event going on there's really nothing to do in the park, lol.
