I have been doing business with this place for many years. The owner is a strong supporter of local, small businesses. He is excellent with shipping strategies and packaging ideas to help save you money. At times he may come across as being stoic or rude, but trust me he is neither of these. He is all work and will focus on your shipping efforts with complete professionalism. I think some customers feel that they must be catered to in all situations and be treated like honored guest. This is not the place for that. This is nothing more than a professional and well maintained shipping store. If you expect to get your ego massaged while you wait in line.. you wont.. Further more, I have had many situations where products have been returned for various reasons. The parcel center handles these situations with perfect delicacy and excellent follow-up. On several occasions they would re-package and re-send with out ant additional cost even though it was probably my fault for sending the item to the wrong address. Additionally I have had many , many customer complements after I shipped something about how well the item was packaged and how fast it was received. All and all, I have had nothing but excellent service from The Parcel center for many years and I will continue to go there for all my shipping needs. read more

I brought in a UPS package for international shipment. The staff person said that the shipment couldn't be processed at this location. I had to ask him where I could have it processed. He grudgingly told me that I'd need to call UPS. When i asked for a phone number, he looked at me as if I was an idiot before supplying the number. Arthur at The Parcel Center was super helpful in getting 3 large boxes shipped out of state for me. My Mom often took items to him 15 years ago, he'd pack everything and ship it for her. He packs and secures the boxes well and all is delivered without any issues. Arthur is very pleasant and easy to deal with, there is no extra charge for any packing/taping he does , the pricing is very fair. I recommend The Parcel Center. We have sent many a package, large and small, with the folks at the Parcel Center. The service has been great, and packages, trunks and even large paintings have all arrive in fine condition. My only reason for giving 3 stars instead of 5 is that there is a bulletin board next the the counter where you pay. On that bulletin board, I read all sorts of radical Right-wing extremist slogans, bumper stickers and ads, supporting Trump and government overthrow. It was offensive. Whatever one's political persuasion, a Parcel Center is NOT the place to advertise such things. read more

The Parcel Center is really not that bad. There's usually only one person working at a time so it can get really backed up if you're in a hurry. The owner isn't too outgoing but he's helped me ship some difficult items over the years. I primarily use them to ship UPS after the post office mangled a package of mine with no recourse. Went there today with a package I was returning. Vendor had me print shipping label. Man at counter immediately told me "there's issues with this package....first of all it's not in a box". When I told him it didn't arrive in a box, he simple sent me away and told me to "go down the road to Michael's - they have an 'access point' there. They probably don't know the rules there, so take it to them." I had plenty to say, but instead turned around and brought it to Staples (in Michael's plaza) where I got prompt courteous service. When I have dropped off items here, unfortunately I am greeted by a very grouchy owner/operator each and every time. I'm not sure if I am misunderstanding the temperament of this person or ironically catching him on a bad day-I unfortunately feel like he hates his job. I wish I went in once and it was a completely different experience, but it hasn't happened yet. 95% of what occurs in a shipping center is customer service interaction, 5% is the actual details of the shipment. Either way, I now drop off UPS items at the local staples and FedEx items at the storage shipping center up the road...for everything else, I'll use the post office. read more

j Terrible experience. I went there to return some wheels I had bought online that didn't fit. The company assured me it was their fault and I can return them using UPS through any parcel center. After using Google to find the closest one near me and it happened to be this joker. I don't know the guys name but it looks like it's just his show. The look of disgust on his face in the tone of anger in his voice by me simply bringing four cardboard boxes into his establishment was palpable. After measuring them he scolded me for not having the sizes on the boxes but he would "help me this time ." Mind you these are the exact boxes they came in from UPS already. He Dismissively motioned me to "go over to the counter fill out the right paperwork." There I found an antiquated And Verbose form that was as long as it was ridiculous and I need to fill out one for every single package including the 30 digit tracking number. A real updated place will just simply scan The pre-printed return labels into their computer and then you're done. Not this dump. If you didn't want me to bring my packages there you could've simply said so and I would've taken them somewhere else that gives a shit. Lastly the place was dingy and dirty especially the filthy carpet which I thought was a broken linoleum floor it was so bad when I walked in. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would! This place is AWFUL. I have never been treated so poorly while trying to ship a package. I went into the store to return something toAmazon, using the exact same box it was shipped to me in, and using the label provided by them. The man working there proceeded to reprimand me for having the improper box size and then shoved a form at me to fill out and left me at the counter. When I asked if this was all set, I also told him that I had made the same return at a UPS store in Providence with no trouble. His response was very sarcastic. He wouldn't give me a receipt, either. I told him he shouldn't take out his anger about these companies on his customers, as we are often not familiar with the ins and outs of shipping, and trust the companies we use. This place is a total scam, avoid at ALL costs. The owner couldn't be bothered to stop texting for 30 seconds when I walked in. Then he tells me that the package I wanted to ship, which was a return to Overstock for which they supplied the label, couldn't be sent as is because it needed a label that was rated for a 53lb package, even though it was just a comforter set that weighed 13lbs. Took it to Staples and they accepted it with no issues. Not sure what kind of scam operation this guy is running, but I'm gonna spread the word to everyone I can. This guy is a CROOK. Okay I own my own business in Westerly and have known Arthur for many years now. He does a lot of extra work and many times has reboxed items in order to save me on shipping. Since all of the shipping is something I am returning to be repaird/replaced this helps. Occasionally I am shipping someone's bike home and this is where he really shines-large packages. He is an expert in getting it down to size. These savings get passed onto my customers so they end up saving money too. I Am also fully aware that Parcel Center doesn't take prepaid ups items as a matter of course. I get it, the location doesn't get paid to do it so why do it? When these instances come up I either give the package to my UPS driver when he comes in or drop the box off at staples. Arthur's many instances of excellent service outweigh not taking relabeled packages for me. read more

Couldn't agree more with other reviewers. The owner was immediately rude before I even said anything. He then proceeded to give me a lecture how the proper size wasn't printed on the UPS label. Mind you the label was printed from a website for a return so I have no control over it. He gave me a good tongue lashing for not having the size on it and gave me a handout with all the things I must have on the label. He told me he will take the package today but in the future if the size isn't properly displayed on the label he won't take it. No worries I'll never ever return! I have shipped all packaged through this service and have always had a positive experience. I've shipped overseas to Korea while my boyfriend was deployed and it took less than a week! He packages everything for you and makes it very easy! I recommend this place to everyone sending out packages! I'm a born and bred East Coaster and pretty tough skinned. But I'm also an adult with expectations about where I spend my money. I deal with gruff people all the time but this was absurd. The owner (and I asked him if he was and told him he was rude to his face) tried to lecture me about shipping and asked me what was in my boxes. None of your business. That's why I didn't answer. As I read the reviews of this business I had to laugh! I can totally see why many have written poor reviews based on Arthur's (the owner) demeanor and first impression. If you don't have somewhat of a thick skin and your looking for the standard pleasantries you need to adjust your expectations. Arthur is basically the Soup Nazi (Seinfeld reference) of shipping. You need to fall in line, follow the rules, stay strong and you'll get great service! When I first went in to ship an item I thought to myself "this guy seems like a tough person to deal with" but as I talked to him further about shipping my package I realized once you get past his initial personality he is crazy helpful!! A real pro of shipping and actually very nice! My package was going to Indonesia and was a very challenging shipping experience and he was awesome. He cut my box down to save me on the cost as the other positive reviews mentioned. Fast forward a few days later and my package got returned because of Indonesia rules. Arthur called me and we worked on a new way to ship the item. Through all of the back and forth he totally changed my view of him from my first impression. I will bring future packages to him for shipping for sure. He is great at what he does although not very warm and fuzzy. read more

I'm tired of people bashing this store, most of the negative comments are totally unwarranted. I've used this shipping location probably half a dozen times in the last year. Every single time I do, I'm in and out in less than 5 mins, my items are shipped as cost efficiently as possible, with no issues. The staff behind the counter doesn't come out and hug me or give me a high five. If that's what you want, go to a coffee shop and make friends with a barista. That's not what I care about. And when I asked why they wouldn't take it, as they are listed as a place to take your amazon returns, the man slams down the tape, storms to the counter glaring at me and says "because I said so, not my problem you internet sheep believe everything. Go to Warwick" Really?! Are you 12? This man is a bully. This is the 2nd time I've dealt with him. The first time he was awful as well but I thought he was having a bad day. Nope. I would give zero stars if I could! I have never been treated so rude by a business in my life. Ever. I went in to see if they took prepaid authorized return packages because I needed to drop off my return at an authorized UPS center. I vaguely remember visiting a very long time ago and them not accepting some type of packages so I wanted to make sure before I stood in a line of ten people. It is the holidays and it was busy in there but that is NO excuse for the way I was treated. I walked in and walked to side of the line because it was all the way back to the door. I stood to the side and waited for someone to acknowledge me to no avail. Both workers were dealing with other people but they should still acknowledged other customers standing in the store. Finally, I said to the man behind the counter "excuse me, do you accept UPS authorized return packages?" He just rolled his eyes hard and ignored me. I said again "do you?" He then look at me and said "wait your turn!". I then said "wait my turn in a line of ten people to find out you don't actually accept them? It's a simple question and if you don't I'll just go somewhere else." He then took a piece of paper out and slammed it down on the counter "fill out the form!" I did walk up to the counter muttering something I'm sure wasn't exactly pleasant grabbed the form and then started to walk back to the line. I realized half way back that I did not want to give this man any type of business at all or even waste my time with someone so rude. I threw the paper on the floor and said loudly "forget this I'll got to staples" and on my way I went. This man was completely obnoxious and I can not believe he actually runs a business like this if he is the owner. If he isn't the owner then the owner needs to do some serious quality control with his workers because treating a potential customer like that is just unacceptable. I know that I will never ever visit that this place again even if it's the last place on earth to drop off a package or order invitations.
