While I'm not one to go crazy over my nails, I keep a consistent enough schedule to know a good manicure from a not so good manicure. My boyfriend lives in Royal Oak, and I was in desperate need of a manicure before his company's holiday party, and picked Paris nails to get the job done. My experience was one to remember, but for all the wrong reasons! I entered the salon to an awkward, almost cold greeting, and sat down to get my nails done by who I assume was the manager or owner. I can't get over how awful this experience was! In the span of my gel manicure, this man handled dirty money, stopped mid-manicure multiple times to text and answer his phone, wiped his runny nose with the bare hands he was using to paint my nails, and then used his own dirty nail to clean up the edges. After the top coat was dried, he went back and filed my nails again, completely ruining the finish on the polish and making my nails look terrible! It's not hard to find a decent manicure, so go elsewhere- if not for the final product, than for the hygiene! read more

Just moved to Birmingham and have been in search for a new place for acrylics. After two terrible manicures at different salons, I might have found a good one! The gentleman wasn't the most talkative but he gives a damn good pedicure and manicure. He really took his time and paid attention to what he was doing. The salon is clean and spacious. I have given this place a try a few times. Disclaimer: I have NEVER written a Yelp review before, but honestly I feel as if this needs to be said. Here is how the process went today: went in to get dip on my nails. I didn't get my nails soaked and cuticles were NOT trimmed. Was not asked if I wanted my nails trimmed, I literally had to ask him myself. Literally the old shellac is soaked off and then immediately we go into the dip process. WTF!? After I get the top coat on the dip, he sprays my nails and wipes them - a white color starts to show up on my nail!? The best way I can describe it is like sticking a paper towel to a wet nail and having little pieces stuck to nail. So I'm like wtf!? He put a top coat over it and the white color goes away. Soooo then he says I'm done (no lotion on hands / arm massage to follow.) then I go to the bathroom and wash my hands, and what do you know!? EVERY NAIL has that white color on them after I wash my hands. WHAT THE!? So I walk back out and show him, another worker comes and looks - honestly I have no clue what he even said, something about not using the correct top coat.. oh okay weird. Sooooo then he takes the drill out and chisels at every nail again, then puts the correct top coat on. YES, he did apologize but bruhhh come ON! Okay so now he is done again - hour and a half later. Again - NO lotion on hands / arm massage. Honestly at this point I want to gtfo. So I wash my hands and thankfully no weird white color was visible. Sooooo I cash out, $45 - NO discount for A) not giving a COMPLETE manicure and B) having my nails originally look like shit. Needless to say, I will not be returning. read more

OMG...this place ROCKS. Clean, nice decor, open/spacious, nice/talented staff, and great prices. By far the worst nail salon I have ever been to! It took over an hour to get my gel polish changed... The woman doing my nails was inexperienced, her hands were shaking, she kept digging her nails into my fingers to remove polish (unsanitary!), and to top it off, she blamed me that it was taking so long because I had requested to have my nails short. It's been only two days and my nails are chipping... Let me remind you, these are gels! Gels aren't supposed to chip, especially after only two days! Stopped in last night. Wow!!!!!! I'm sure glad I did!!!! My nails and toe nails look FABULOUS!!!!! I jump around from salon to salon and let's just say (unless these lift within a couple days. Lol) This is my new permanent nail salon. Very, very clean. Friendly. All around great experience! Again, my nails look FABULOUS!!!!! got pink acrylic, they have a nice, natural curve to them. Well it is esthetically appealing inside. That's about the only good quality this place has in my eyes. After asking the man doing my nails to remove the polish from my skin all around my nails and it still being there, I asked for the brush to try and do it myself. Didn't work. He said once I wash my hands it should come off. Um really? A woman I was chatting with saw my nails and said I should say something to the owner. I did and she had a lady fix them. I really needed to leave and told her that but she more polish on. Sure enough I get into my car and they are even more awful because of the wet polish. And I was late to where I had to be. Desperately seeking a pedicure and shellac removal at 7pm on a Saturday night, I found this unexpected surprise on Yelp. I felt bad coming in so late when I am sure they wanted to get out of there, but they greeted me warmly with no obvious irritation. My pedicure was really amazing and so relaxing. They rubbed my legs with some kind of cooling mask, which I have had done before, but this one was a much longer rub (maybe ten minutes!) Then they used a scrub on my legs for another ten minutes and it felt like someone scratching your back in the best way. I very happily observed them take three more late-to-the-party customers, staying well past their closing time with not a single sign of annoyance. This may be my new go-to. read more

Came to Paris Nails while visiting for the holidays, on the recommendation of a friend. At first glance this place is pretty and inviting. Mistake!!! Sat down to get a gel manicure and thought there was lint all over the table - nope, it was the cuticle trimming of previous customers. GAG. This, combined with the fact that my friend's cuticles (also getting a gel manicure) were trimmed so incredibly short that three of her fingers bled AND the woman workin' on me had the driest, scaliest, most cracked, disgusting hands imaginable. I came here for the waxing "services". This was my second time here. The first one was great, a young woman took care of me and even though she spoke no English she was very gentle and communicated with me and did a great job, no burning, very thorough and well done. The second time, this lady wearing reading glasses (at least 10 or 20 years older) "helped" me. She was in such a rush, all was done so fast, she didnt understand me as she spoke like 3 words in English. She burned me way too much. She didnt care for the temperature of the wax and I told her and she started blowing directly to my face....... When she showed me the mirror and I dared to look, I could see she missed several spots! I was so frustrated and then she tried with evil tweezers, she literally pinched me several times.... Oh Im never coming back again! On top of everything I think the wax was too old since today, a day after I came with an allergy in my face :( The back room for waxing is not clean either.... I dare you to go and come out alive, ha Three stars only because of my first time and that young woman who did her job so well. read more

She did a beautiful job however, I decided to wait to write my review wondering if the shellac would come off or there would be nails not staying on. To my surprise, this is the longest I've ever gone without needing a manicure. Jenny another tech there could not have been kinder. I have been able to get in with Anna on short notice. The worst experience. Staff is Illiterate to the English language. I had a pedicure the other day and the nail tech kept digging at an ingrown toe nail. She filled the tub with extremely hot water. She did not understand English, caused great pain and bleeding. Every thing was dirty and used extremely Hot towels which burned my legs. Result I went to the Hospital for fungus on my toes...burns on my legs. I complained to a shirtless Asian and he told me to leave and defend the Ilea gel aliens working there. Avoid this filth hole if you can... I went to my lawyer who is filing a civil suit for pain and suffering. read more

Will not go back. Requested a fill. Had a broken nail in need of a repair. While repairing it, manicurist jabbed my finger with the tool being used and caused pain and my finger to bleed. While cleaning up my cuticles with the sanding/filing tool, he went too low and cut my fingers on two occasions. On several occasions, the sanding/filing tool caught my finger while he was filing my nails. Wanted a French Manicure, after several attempts by two manicurists to do it, I abandoned it and asked them to paint my nails a solid color. The finish on my nails was rough and unprofessional. I will never return or recommend this place to anyone else. read more

I've been coming here for years for mani/pedi and eyebrow and lip wax. They do a great job and are very detailed. The pedicures include a hot stone massage & hot towels and last about 45 mins. They are very well priced too. Bring cash for tips, you can't tip on credit card here. Highly recommend! read more

They are gels but not bulky. They are light and clean. She has never disappointed me. The salon is clean and attractive and relaxing and I enjoy my mani/pedi time there. read more
