I bought a pair of Oakley Gascans and they had a minor issue, so I emailed the company and they sent out a replacement 1st for the sunglasses and had the shipping lined up to return the pair I had.

Maine Surfers Union is a good smaller sized shop that I've been to over the years. Each time I've…read moredropped by Charlie and other staff have been helpful and super friendly. In fact, one time I really needed some Futures fins during a swell and couldn't make it to the shop for a while so Charlie offered advice over the phone to decide on my best size and arranged to meet up with me near my local surf break one early morning-how can you beat that for customer service?! When I walk into MSU one thing that pops into my brain is "quality" - good brands and well made products that you may need to pay a little more for at times, but will last. Haven't bought a board here, but am always curious what they have for shapes-they don't offer a huge selection of multiple racks full of boards but I like that they stock USA made quality options and they update on social media board orders arriving to give you a sense of what's available. Also offer some surf books, local coffee and local craft beer to go.

It offers a carefully curated selection of items you NEED as a surfer (wax, rashguards, swimsuits, board leashes, etc.) coupled with things that straddle the line between a need and a want (books, beautiful towels, insulated cups, Maine-made backpacks, bags, and wallets to name just a few). Many of the items are USA made and some are even Maine-made and made in Portland. The people working there seemed very knowledgeable about surfing in Maine and worldwide. I was listening to one provide seasonal travel advice for following waves and a budget to another customer. I didn't detect a trace of snark as anyone's questions were being answered, whether of not those questions were surfing-related. Very welcoming and helpful staff and nice selection of goods!

I've been here multiple times for snowboard stuff, as a complete beginner…read more For myself, I got my entire setup here, board, boots, and binding. Sasha helped me and she was great, making sure everything worked for my body and my needs. I also brought in my daughter's stuff because we had problems with the boots and bindings (marketplace purchase because we weren't sure she'd stick with it). I expected to have to buy new bindings. They didn't sell me anything that I didn't need and they shared all of their experience to help us solve the problem. I am SO thankful for everything they shared, there is no way we'd have reached that point on our own. We worked with Travis and Matt who were really awesome. I definitely recommend coming here if you have any issues or unique needs, or if you need a new setup or are a beginner. Also, stop in just for your regular stuff! They have a huge selection of all of the layers and accessories. Obviously there are expensive things, but it isn't an uncomfortable sales environment at all.

I have conservatively spent over $4000 at this establishment over the past several years, and I keep coming back despite the profound lack of customer service that I've experienced previously. But they're the only show in town, and what can you do right? Well, today was the last straw. I was literally the only customer in the store. Not only did nobody ask me if I need it any assistance, but while I was browsing in the children's section, one of their technicians walked by me, kicked me in the shins, bumped me into the clothing rack and didn't apologize or say excuse me. He didn't even acknowledge that I was there. It's bad enough that most ski bums are drunk or high while they're working, in addition to being allergic to basic customer service. It's even worse when they assault you while they're ignoring you. I will never, ever ever ever set foot in an Arlberg again.

My 10 year old and I took lessons today and it was great. From the time I called a few days ago to…read moreset things up to after the lesson everyone (and I mean everyone) we met at the shop was friendly and fun. The two instructors (10 and under needs their own instructor for safety) were great. Folks working the rental side chatted with me about board size and told me about folks bigger than me that come in to surf. When we got on site the waves were about 1 foot and the instructors offered me a credit because I am a big guy and they said the waves were probably not big enough for me to get a real lesson. I chose to go ahead mostly to hang with my son. They had my boy up and riding in no time. I was up as well, but not for long because I ran out of wave energy quickly due to the small waves. But they were focused on having fun and were always making suggestions and pointers while complimenting what I did get right. We are already planning our next surf outing and will be renting from the good folk at Cinnamon Rainbows.

After I called the surf shop to advise them that there was no instructor at the meeting location, I was told who we were supposed to have as an instructor apparently "had a mixup in his schedule" is what the young lady said when calling. This isn't the first time this has happened. When we did this last year same situation of a schedule mixup. The young gentleman at the shop where you pick up your wetsuits are very pleasant and helpful. I was later called by one of the managers to let me know that they were refunding for the full cost of the lesson and that we would still get our lesson. They said they were refunding to apologize for the inconvenience of waiting over 30 minutes past our lesson time for an instructor to arrive.
