I've parked at Park and Jet twice in the past six months. Once late last year and again this past week. Both times I purchased a Living Social coupon for discounted prepaid parking. I purchased three days last year and seven days for the recent trip. The first coupon was sufficient to cover the entire trip and I only paid $10 for sales tax and some obscure airport fee that was quoted upfront. After purchasing the seven day L.S. coupon, we subsequently changed our flight which meant arriving home roughly five-six hours just beyond the seven day mark. I figured no big deal, it's only nine bucks for parking plus the same fees/taxes I paid last time. This time, the lot was packed and I had to park my car on gravel instead of asphalt like I did the first time. The daytime shuttle drivers have all been timely and have very nice personalities. The afternoon and evening shuttle drivers seem less friendly and one late night pickup took a long time to arrive, even after several calls.
After the most recent trip, we were dropped at our car by the shuttle, we pulled up to the booth to pay our balance and I handed the booth woman my Living Social coupon for the seven days and waited for my balance for the eighth "day". I was expecting to pay an additional $15-20 tops which included $8.95 for the "extra day" (in reality, six hours beyond 7 exact days) , taxes and airport surcharge. She requested payment of nearly $25. I asked her why the amount was so high and she barked that parking was $11.95 plus the other expenses. I advised her that my reservation quoted $8.95. She raised her voice even higher and replied rudely, "That's nothing. That's just a reservation." When I again told her that it contained a quoted price that I expected to be honored, she went ballistic and started screaming at me in front of my family. She was completely out of line. I refused to engage in her antics and again calmly told her that I had a quoted rate on my reservation and did not plan to pay a penny more. She then yelled that she was getting a manager and began screaming frantically for a manager at the top of her lungs. She was screaming it as if she were being attacked. Luckily, another group of customers were standing near my car while waiting for a shuttle and witnessed the entire exchange.
A male manager finally came over to thankfully defuse the situation. The manager explained that the online price is a special rate and is not able to be combined with any other specials or offers. I advised him that I saw no evidence of that and it was also not mentioned anywhere on my reservation. The manager said he'd discount it down to the quoted rate as a one-time courtesy. I thanked him and he left. He was cordial the entire time. However, the booth woman was seething after the manager extended me the courtesy. She shoved the credit card booklet into my window and barked at me to sign. After I signed, she snatched the book back, looked away and never said another word. She was visibly very angry and upset and tried to be as cold and dismissive as possible. I obviously never got a "thank you" for the patronage nor any sign of appreciation for my business.
I don't normally write Yelp reviews but since this place isn't covered under Trip Advisor, I had to write my first Yelp review today. I couldn't let this pass without warning others. Upon arriving home, I did find the info the manager mentioned on the rates page. Although I see his point, their "fine print" is not exactly in the most noticeable location. I've always gone straight to the reservations page after buying a discounted coupon because that was the only thing that need to be completed after purchase. Park and Jet should place a copy of the policy on both the reservation page and printout. While making my reservation, I never noticed any info whatsoever indicating that the quoted $8.95 price was a "special" rate, even after making and printing a reservation with a price quote.
If the one late shuttle, the gravel parking and the price mix-up were my only cons, I'd give P&J at least three stars. They really do have some cool shuttle drivers, especially the woman very early in the morning. I also appreciate the manager resolving the issue to the satisfaction of all involved. However, with a highly visible booth employee blatantly treating customers rudely and unprofessionally, apparently with no repercussions, even ONE star is too kind. read more
