Our washer was broken for 4 weeks so we made frequent trips here and it was a solid experience every time. Clean. Functioning machine. Always quarters in the coin machine, even when I'd cash in a $20. There's nothing in the vending machine, and it's on the hot side temperature-wise but there is a really good ice cream shop across the street so you can pop over there for a nice cold soft/serve cone while you wait the 23 minutes on the wash cycle. Bring cash for the ice cream shop, they don't take debit or credit. read more

Had a good experience. Pricier than our regular laundromat, which closed recently, just in time for our home dryer to break. We did 4 loads, and everything came out clean and dry, even a duvet. Facility is clean. ATM was broken, but the coin machine worked. Quiet, not crowded, well-lit, smelled good. Parked in nearby lot for $2.00, not bad. I'd come back, but hopefully we will have a functioning dryer at some point at our house. read more

I decided to go to this laundromat after seeing the ratings on here and how close it is to me in Oak Park. However, immediately on walking in--red flags. --Multiple out-of-order signs up in each aisle --no hot water, and no signage saying so --no staff on the premises --ATM out of order I ended up wasting $9 and I'm still not really sure that my laundry is clean. And I couldn't really do anything about it since no one is here. Won't be coming back. There are so many better options. Bare minimums aren't being met here. read more

This place has been a regular part of my life for years. It used to be clean, well functioning and kept up. No more. At this point most of the machines and dryers are broken. Most of them! The owner cut off the hot water so there is only cold water. The lady who works there and does fluff and fold is never there anymore during the hours posted. It's a mess in there too. The owner must be coming by to empty the coins and refill the change machines but it looks like that is all he does. The doors are on automatic open in the morning and lock at night. And there is a whole row of brand new machines that are not hooked up because the plumbing is broken there and that's been like that for YEARS now. Clearly the owner is just collecting what he can until every single machine is broken. I really miss my old laundromat; the previous owner took so much pride and they had the best ladies working there and the nicest neighbors used the facility! Big loss for the community. I really want to like this place. It's convenient and the people who work/own it seem to be nice people. But there are more machines broken than working. There has been no hot water for weeks. The building doesn't even seem heated. And the free wifi is non-existent. The machines that "work" do not fully work and it's challenging to get soap (at least non-liquid soap) into them. The owner mentioned that the machines are all 20 years old. They obviously need much better maintenance or in most cases repair or replacement. I wish the friendly staff, cleanliness, and convenience was enough, but I won't be back. There are just too many issues. read more

What do you do when you need to do a couple of loads of laundry before leaving for vacation and your trusty washing machine is suddenly unresponsive. The only choice is the laundromat and I wish I had picked a different establishment. The attendant was nasty grabbing and removing the laundry cart I had waiting in front of my dryers. A shop vacuum with a long hose and cord was spread out on the floor in front of a bank of dryers making it difficult and unsafe to walk from the washing machines to the dryers. A delivery of a new washer is scheduled for when I return so hopefully there'll be no additional laundromat visits in my future. If I ever need a laundromat it will not be this one. I do not recommend Park Avenue Coin Laundry if you have another choice. read more

This place used to be good but, it's terrible and in terrible shape at this point in time. There is no hot water in the place. And you can only run the washers on cold. When you start the washers, the water doesn't start to fill the machine until five minutes into the load when the washer switches to rinse, it's awful. Your clothes are left in suds. So you have to spend the money to do two loads for one complete load. Additionally, the attendants are never there, even during hours they claim to be there. The ATM is busted open and only one change machine works. The place is gross in terms of cleanliness. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

Clean, well-lit place to tumble away the stains and spills of the week. There's parking on the street (free after 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and all day Sunday). There's a parking lot right next door, but they're very serious about the hours during which you can park there. During the summer, the ice cream shop across the street is open and well worth the wait in line. You can also browse through the CD store across the street. The washers don't always fill all the way. I've never noticed the difference, but I heard someone point it out once while I was sitting there. The dryers are large and work really well. The staff are kind of odd - I'm usually there on the weekends, so I don't know about weekday staff - but they're harmless. The other patrons are polite and are either friendly or keep to themselves. Prices range from $1.75 (for a regular top-load washer) to $4 (for the extra mega hell of huge load). Dryers are 25 cents for 10 minutes. There's a coffee shop opening soon a few doors down, but they've been saying that since November. We'll see. Good place to people watch, too. read more

I have been going to this laundry matt for 10 years, it has always been clean and great service until it was sold a couple years ago. Past few years this laundry has just been horrible! Most washing machines and dryers are broken, nothing gets fixed, new washing machines have been sitting there for years never been connected, No one is ever there working or cleaning, coin machines barely have quarters or it just spits your money back out, the ATM inside is busted, vending machine is empty, the decor is literally every holiday all at once, the door automatically locks and you cannot get in or get ahold of anyone until morning. I am so ridiculously impressed with this laundromat. My boyfriend and I decided to try this place because the previous couple of places have either been disappointing or inconvenient. Unfortunately, our apartment doesn't have a laundry room or public laundry, so we're forced to do our laundry in commercial places. When we got there, the first impression was a good one. It wasn't crowded (we went on a Saturday around 3), it was clean, the washers look new and reliable. The prices weren't bad at all. Unfortunately, I'm kind of an air head most of the time when I comes to laundry and remembering to check all the washers before I start drying clothes. I forgot 3 pairs of pants in the washer on Saturday. I thought they would be long gone in a dumpster or at Goodwill when I went there just a few minutes ago. They actually kept them! They were waiting to see if anyone came to claim them. It was such a surprise to see how nice the staff is and how much they actually do to contribute to the success of the laundromat. Overall, super impressed thus far. I'll continue to keep returning. I think they'll be my new consistent laundromat. read more

Those of us that have day jobs, can't hardly be expected to drop off laundry mid day. Which makes it a shame that their answering machine, online presence and everything else list them as having laundry service dropoff after 4pm. But when you arrive at 4:30, the office is locked up, with a single handwritten note stating that they are no longer doing evening laundry service... When I had more free time, I found their self service fine, no complaints there. Oh well, on to the next business. read more

Nice place to do laundry, they also offer drop off service. Opens early, stays open relatively late. Has 2 TVs with cable, vending machines, atm. Can get a bit crowded on Sundays, but I guess that's normal. Weekdays it's pretty empty. Sometimes I'll let my laundry run and hit the Oak Park Ave Ale house for a quick pint or go over to Jewel for the weeks shopping and not have to worry my stuff will get ripped off. Regular machines are $1.50 per load and the larger ones can get up to $4.00. Dryer is .25 for 10 minutes. Can't to too jazzed up about a Laundrymat, but I wish they would offer specials like free dryer use or have free wifi so I can bring my Laptop. read more

Clean laundromat, friendly staff, but should you need a large capacity mega machine this laundromat only has two. Every time I go they're either being used, or 'held' with a pair of socks in one and underwear in another. Likely by someone who is trying to find parking (not a whole lot here, which can be a pain with lots of laundry). Last time I went I waited maybe ten minutes to see if the person 'holding' the mega machine would return, but I decided to go elsewhere as the last thing I wanted was a throwdown at the laundromat for moving the items and actually using the machines. It's ridiculous. The only time I go to the laundromat is when I need to wash a large item like a comforter or a rug and I can never get one of the mega machines unless I go late evening, like almost closing on a Wednesday. They need to take out some of those old top loaders and add more mega machines! read more

Compared to some of the other Laundromats in the OP/FP/Berwyn area, this is by far the nicest place to do laundry. They also offer drop off service which isn't too pricey (.96 a lb last time I was there). I hit this place every couple of months to wash blankets, bed sheets etc. Very clean, opens early, and stays open relatively late. Has TVs with cable, vending machines, & ATM. Can get a bit crowded on Sundays, but I guess that's normal. Weekdays it's pretty empty. Guess the only major issue I have with this place is the prices for the machines. They seem to go up every 3-5 months. $2 for the regular machines which is fine, but over $6 for their highest capacity machine? SO we were mega behind on laundry and decided to get it over with in one fell swoop. Hence, my woman and I found our selves in a laundromat for the first time in a decade or so. We wanted one with Wi-fi and lo and behold, Park avenue showed up on the googly maps. Nice enough for a laundry, near the the hole in the wall ice cream, taste of Brasil and the Oak Park bakery. Has an ATM that only charges a 2 dollar inconvenience fee, vs fith third rip off that charges 3.50. I found the dryers to be so so. The maxi load washers can handle 2 sleeping bags at once. There just a few of these big front load machines, but hey I only needed one. If I end up in a laundry bind again, I would return to Park Avenue coin op. read more

Drop off is ridiculously overpriced when it comes to comforters and blankets. Little old black lady that works here will ask to keep your change as a tip if you don't give exact amount that you owe. Drop off hours are weird as all hell. Says from 9:30-10:30pm but doors are locked at 10 with no one present for you to pick up laundry. read more

The facility is clean, bright and well lit, the machines themselves are immaculate and the attendant Helen is the best lady on the planet. She makes you feel welcome and never once sits around. I love that they have three different sizes of machines. Because yes, I needed the big double load but I was happy to not waste the quarters on one of those big machines for the smaller, second load of darks that I brought along. I did the drop off service and they did a wonderful job! My cloths were folded so nicely and wrapped tight in a large plastic bag so no rain/snow could get on them... very nice. Both people I encountered while dropping off and picking up had very good customer service skills.... both were smiling, answered all my questions(I had never done this before), and were kind. I had to stop the washing machine in the middle of a load, because the sewer backed up which ended up flooding the basement! With a load of laundry that needed to be dried and other laundry still left to do, I loaded up the car after calling Roto Rooter, searched Google, and found my way to Park Avenue Coin & Laundry. I hadn't been to a laundromat since forever ago and felt uncomfortable about going - however, I was in for a pleasant surprise. Park Avenue Laundromat is very clean, well kept, and I felt very safe and comfortable there. This place was impeccably clean and the attendant is the reason you will have a nice experience. In the short time I was there, this older kind woman cheered up a mom and daughter who were upset with each other, entertained my son with the vacuum cleaner, made change for me and assisted me with loading my laundry up in my car. She rolled my car out to my car for me while I carried my 16 mos in my arms. She then quickly loaded up my laundry in my trunk and took the cart back in the building. Such a nice lady. Really provided a human-centered experience. Laundromats aren't usually a great place to be, especially not with a toddler and a lot of laundry, but she really made it pleasant. read more
