They sell you an item through their online store, confirm the order, and then call you and say its not what you purchased or that it wont work in the USA. This is a SCAM! Buyer Beware, avoid this company at all costs. The discounted prices are a front for illegal business activities and practices. This store does not engage in ethical business practice. We did not modify our order or contact them. They tried to call us as they have many other customers judging by online reviews and attempted to defraud the consumer with false advertising of products discounted on their website only to try and overcharge after an order is placed and confirmed. They were warned that they needed to address these issues on their website and if they didn't we would file fraud claims against them and file complaints with the BBB. They offer a product at a discounted price to entice buyers to purchase from them and then tell them a lie like "that one won't work in the USA". This is blatantly false and misleading as canon doesn't make cameras that only function in certain countries based on the GPS reading as they attempted to goad us into thinking. When we called them out on their illegal and defrauding business practices they could care less. I ordered a camera and they told called me to tell me that I need a specific SD that cost $100. I said ok I didn't know that it needs a special SD card. Yes they told me they have the cheapest one. So I said go ahead. I then reached out to people on the blogs of fstoppers and petapixel and they told me they just took advantage of you. DO NOT BUY FROM PARK AVENUE PHOTO! THIS IS WHY... I have been searching around online for the best price on a Sony FE 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS lens and stumbled upon Park Ave Photo website advertising it new for $2,249.00 dollars... about $250 less than competitors. As a young film maker and photographer, being able to save some money was great news. But there was a twist that was nowhere to be found in the description on there website on this particular products page. A customer service member that I just got off the phone with told me the reason it was $250 dollars cheaper is because this product was not USA made and it would be shipped from over seas. Meaning the back mount ring was plastic and not metal, and that it also did not come in its original box or with Sony's 1 year warranty. This also meant that the 2 day shipping I paid $28 dollars for was a waste because the item would take 3-4 days to arrive at your warehouse where it would then be shipped with 2 day shipping. A total of 5-6 business days. On the product page for this Sony 100-400mm lens, its shows a price cut and shows you your savings as if they are giving me the same exact sony product I would be buying on any other site but at a discounted price. NOWHERE on this page does it explain or describe that the product I am about to purchase is of lesser value in quality then the original Sony 100-400mm lens and will be sent from a warehouse outside of the U.S. This leads me to believe it is a knock off item. In addition when I asked if I could be refunded my money before the transaction was approved and before the status of the purchase was out of a "pending" stage the customer service representative told me it was not possible and that my order was already being shipped... he told me this 3 mins after he had previously told me that my transaction had not gone through yet. Also, when I asked the customer service representative why the Sony FE 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS lens is only available at a discounted price on the website, he told me that the USA made ones are only available to purchase over the phone. Once i called them they said i have to pay more than $200 to get "the USA version" which was ready to ship or join a waiting list for some international version (probably wait forever). Absolute garbage of a company. Placed an order for a lens online, everything went through. Next day I get a call from a sales representative saying that he's getting my lens ready to ship. He tries to sell me some filters with it, I politely decline. He tries to sell me an extended warranty with it, I politely decline. Then he tries to convince me that the lens is a Chinese model, and that I can get a USA model "for only $40 more". I politely decline again, knowing that there's no such thing as "Chinese model" Canon L series lenses. He says "OK, I'll get your lens shipped today". I'm back. So, I don't have my camera :/ Apparently, they tried to charge my card ("six times") but it wouldn't process. So, I have waited since 10/3/18 with no news about my camera. I figured that the shipping would take longer (as it was ground shipping), but I expected to be contacted before too long. Unfortunately, I had yet to receive an email stating that my camera had even been shipped or that the order was unable to be carried out. You can imagine my disappointment at the lack of communication. Finally, after attempting to contact them several times over the phone and through emails, I was able to get a hold of someone. This is where I found out that they were unable to charge my card. The person was very nice and seemed willing to explain everything. They even offered to reorder it and start the process over. He said that it would be the same price, etc., and still the imported version. I was willing to reorder the camera, as I still wanted it, but then, the same thing started to happen. The guy wanted to convince me to buy the more expensive version because it had some feature that the imported version didn't have (a different feature, mind you, then mentioned previously). Upon hearing this, my mind was made up. I told the guy that I didn't want to reorder the camera. We exchanged pleasantries and thus ended a month-long interaction with this company. Overall, I am extremely unhappy about the lack of communication, the continuous upselling, and the lack of proper information on the website regarding exactly what the customer is buying (e.g. it being imported or from the USA, having certain features, etc.). I would not recommend buying from this company. Thankfully I was able to find a better deal through Canon (I found it yesterday, actually). ZERO STARS!!!! DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! After carefully reviewing the site, I decided to purchase the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III Lens. All big retailers were having a sale on canon lens so when I saw it for $200 cheaper than else where I decided to go with it obviously. I usually order from B and H photo, never had an issue but their price was nearly $300 more for the same lens. I went ahead with the purchase and received a email confirmation for the price of the lens. I thought I was good to go. Then today I receive an email regarding my order and to contact Richard at extension 1308. I call and speak to him and he tells me the lens I purchased is the international lens and doesn't come with the Canon 1 year warranty and also doesn't even look the same as the actual Canon lens. I ask him what was the price difference and it was $300 more, but I could get it for $1799 today on sale. I said that's over $200 more than the price online and I didn't read anything about the international lens online. I said I would need to think about it and would call back. I quickly looked up the details of the lens and it doesn't say a thing about it being international. I call Rich back and told them that and he said it is a Canon lens but it's not under warranty from them, basically the same thing he already said and I told him this felt like a scam and I wanted to cancel my purchase. He said ok and I immediately got an email with the cancellation number but the receipt still says the price I paid of $1559. I also reached out by selecting the contact button on the website and I still haven't heard back. I would like to see this business penalized for false advertising. After searching the internet for the best deal on a new Sigma 35mm f/1.4 for Canon, I chose to purchase through Park Avenue Photo, who had the lens listed for $689.00 ($210 less than competitor websites). I searched reviews that were promising, and made my purchase via PayPal. I received a phone call the next day from an individual that wanted to "confirm my purchase". During the phone call, he asked if I wanted the "international" or "USA" version of the lens. Not knowing there was a difference, I asked for clarification and he stated that the international lens would need calibrated (and I would need to purchase a device for an additional $100 to do so) and had no warranty, whereas the USA version was pre-calibrated and had a 3 year warranty; the difference in cost was $110 that I would be responsible for paying despite ZERO clarification/delineation of these details being posted on the website. I chose the USA version and he asked for a credit card number, however, feeling uncomfortable with the situation, I asked for an invoice to be sent to my email address to be able to pay the difference via PayPal. Upon returning home, I called the number posted on their website to confirm that they made these types of phone calls and the same individual answered. After sitting on hold for several minutes listening to how "customer service was their number one priority", I spoke with this individual about wanting the USA version at the $689 price due to their failure to disclose these details in their product specifications and marketing false advertising. The individual refused and agreed to cancel my order. I decided I would gladly pay $899 on Amazon or at a local camera retailer where I can get a trusted product. I received a phone call 20 minutes later from the same individual I had spoken with both times previously and he agreed to give me the USA version at the $689.00 price due to my disappointment. He confirmed I would know it was the USA version if it came with the warranty and that I could return it if it was not the correct lens. I received my Sigma Art 35mm f/1.4 in the mail, and it does appear to be the correct (calibrated) lens with a 3 year warranty enclosed. I appreciate Park Ave Photo making their mistake right by sending me the lens I paid for, however I would strongly advise them to appropriately dictate on their website that there is a less expensive "international version that requires calibration and has no warranty" or a more expensive "USA version that comes pre-calibrated, with a three year warranty", so this doesn't happen to other customers in the future. read more

Called back 2 days later to find out that the "new" cameras weren't new and that they were $200 more then the price online. Sketchy Ronald tried to explain that the website was an old post and the cameras were not American, so he had to add $200 on each camera for American ones. He told me the "new" cameras were out on display and had wear and tear and could be missing parts but I shouldn't be concerned about that. This is a classic bait and switch business. Ordered lens and got two phone calls. First phone call was to basically tell me I am not getting a new lens,but a display model that has some scratches on it. The ad said it was "new". I questioned why they did not explain that on the web sites and I got no answer. I was told the lens was never used, so I accepted it as is. A few minutes later, I got the second call explaining that the lens was damaged, but I could order a new one at a much higher price. When I said I wanted to cancel, the caller explained he was transferring me to the "cancellation dept.". When the caller returned, he stated to make me a different offer, because he talked to his manager. I hung up and cancelled my payment. I will never do business with these people again. I ordered an expensive lens from this business that was priced $100 below their competitors. Luckily there was an issue with the payment method, so it didn't go through properly and thus was promptly voided by Paypal. Good thing to, because I received an email the next day saying it was out of stock and would be 6 to 8 weeks until delivery. I only got this notification AFTER they tried to cash my payment. There was no indication on their website it was out of stock. Look through their other reviews, it seems that this is very common practice for them to loop in customers. I purchased a Nikon Lens from these fine folk two weeks ago. They are scam artists. I wish I had read the reviews here before I made my purchase. After they e-mailed me that my order would be filled immediately (it wasn't!) I received another e-mail telling me they had questions about my information. When I called, Richard, who supposedly sent me the e-mail "wasn't in." I was asked to explain why I called, and the person who answered (I suspect he was the Richard who "wasn't in") asked me which lens I had ordered. He said the lens I ordered, manufactured in China for Nikon didn't have a warranty. I asked if it was a real Nikon lens and he answered that it was but they do not have warranties, if I wanted a warranty I'd have to order the one manufactured in Thailand. I said that sounds like I'm not getting my price, and he said it would be $100 more. I wanted the lens, so I took the bait and got suckered out of a CPS warranty (although that isn't what he said, he said it had a warranty from Nikon!) for three years. When I finally received the lens, it included the warranty from CPS, AND the lens was made in China, NOT Thailand. I called back, and lo and behold, I got Richard, who sounded suspiciously like the guy I spoke to earlier. He said He had no idea why "not Richard" would tell me that, the lens are manufactured in China, not Thailand. I asked if they did have a factory warranty, and he told me no, they didn't, but no explanation why not. I told him I was not happy with the deal I got, and that I felt ripped off, and that I wanted to return the lens and warranty for a refund. He said, sure, $100 restocking fee. So, regardless of how I handled it, they were going to get their $100. I kept the lens and the useless warranty, but I will NEVER buy again from a NY camera shop, I don't care who they are.
