He delivers all babies himself except for a few nights a week where hospital OBGYNs cover for him, which he explained to us at the beginning. When I went into labor it was one of those nights and he still showed up with his big smile when I got to the hospital at 6am (one hour before his "shift", on a Saturday morning and right in the middle of the Covid-19 outbreak!- we were impressed). He is very kind and sweet and has great bedside manners. It was my first pregnancy and he listened to all of our concerns and explained everything with patience. He knew my name (and my partner's), my medical history, and you could tell he really cared about my wellbeing. Ultrasounds are done in the same practice before of after your regular visit so that's definitely convenient. For blood work,they have a Quest lab literally next door! The staff is just awesome! I have never seen a more effective staff in a medical office ever!!! I was mainly dealing with Daisy (she is just amazing) but everyone else is also very nice. Every time I called the office I got a response or a call back within the hour!!!No matter the issue (an email with a doctor note for work, information for my insurance, faxing referrals, questions for the doctor... anything!). They always call you back with any results, and explain stuff to you carefully. The practice uses the "my chart app" - very useful for appointments and records. I appreciate that they make an effort to know you and call you by your name so you definitely don't feel like "just another patient ". During delivery you could see Dr A.S is experienced. He is calm, reassuring, encouraging and very human. He really made me feel comfortable and safe. You can tell he cares about you and your partner (making him part of the event and giving him instructions that were definitely useful to help me). He was with us on a Saturday from 6am to 2pm (when the baby was born). He said he would come back to the hospital before we were discharged to check on us and he did twice!(Specifically during the weekend- this is what I call dedication and caring). I also love his approach to birth, as natural as possible (no inductions, unnecessary c-sections or episiotomies) but following the highest medical standards. I am extremely grateful he was my doctor and will definitely come back!

My husband and I feel lucky we found Dr. Brennan through Googling, and after our very first meeting realized that the mode of care he and Jais provide--expert, personalized, unrushed, warm, attentive, responsive--is truly one-of-a-kind in this day and age. Throughout my pregnancy, I continued to marvel that if I ever had a question or needed help, I could reliably reach Dr. Brennan or Jais (also highly expert) quickly via phone. I never felt like I was bothering them with questions or concerns. There was never any portal message tag that you get at other offices--it was always a prompt call back. This responsiveness provided me and my husband with great peace of mind, and it frankly ended up feeling like a bragging point amongst our friends, none of whom have had similarly personalized experiences with their providers. It felt like a gift to know that Dr. Brennan, with whom we'd been building a relationship for many months, was the doctor who would reliably deliver our baby (not the case at big practices). This man is a MONSTER!!!!!!…read more I waited more than 2 hours for my appointment at the Great Neck location, which is the worst gynecologist office, with the rudest staff I've ever experienced. After they called me in, the technician/nurse asked me if I was sexually active, and when I disclosed I wasn't because I'm a virgin, she commented, "Oh, you're not missing much anyway." After waiting for Dr. Stavros Lazarou to examine me and meeting me for the very first time, his very first comment after looking at my chart was, "Don't have children, you have too many health issues," which I had no intention of exploring with him, and found that comment to be extremely dismissive and insulting. When he proceeded with the pap smear, he used a device that caused me to feel excruciating pain! I was yelling ouch, and he would just say, "Open your legs wider and bring your body down more!" I told him, "It really hurts!" to which he replied, "Why didn't you tell me you are a virgin?!" At this point I was in so much physical pain, and now emotional pain because of this heartless monster! I was thinking, shouldn't his judgmental and rude nurse have relayed the message to him that I am a virgin and shouldn't he have used the appropriate equipment to examine me in order to give me a pap smear?! After he finished, he got up from his stool, told me passively and unenthusiastically, "Nice to meet you" and walked out while I was still naked, with my legs still in the foot stirrups! He didn't once say, okay you can get up and put your clothes back on, and I'm sorry it was so painful. NOTHING. When I left that office, I went home crying completely devastated, and to add insult to injury, I noticed I was bleeding when I got home because of him! I called the office, and his advice was if the bleeding continues, go to the ER. This whole ordeal happened probably 2-3 years ago, and I didn't think to write a review at the time because I just figured I would find a better doctor and leave this experience in the past and behind me, but it wasn't until I became intimate with my partner that I became triggered by this trauma because that was what it was - a trauma. Dr. Stavros Lazarou traumatized me! He violated me, abandoned me when I was most vulnerable, and thought nothing of it. He is a monster and I'm writing this review so that hopefully another person doesn't have to go through this horrible experience that has now scarred me for life. No apology can undo what this monster did to me.

My previous doctors had all kept prescribing the same or higher strengths of birth control, told me that my problem was lack of hydration, or told me I had to take high doses of pain killers every month. I went to Dr. Yu since I suspected endometriosis and I had an incredible experience! Dr. Yu helped me adjust and laid out multiple different options while keeping an ear out to hear me express whether there were improvements in my symptoms. He was extremely professional and encouraging and gave me a lot of useful information based on extensive check ups and comprehensive blood work. I also got my IUD inserted with Dr. Yu and, from the stories I've heard, had one of the more pleasant and smooth experiences I could have imagined. Although the process was painful, Dr. Yu was very fast and precise and walked me through the whole thing step-by-step -- including when to expect pain, when to expect it to diminish, what symptoms to expect over the next couple weeks, etc. His office space was always clean and his team additionally offered pain medications when they saw me come out to help relieve my symptoms. My partner also had no issues after the process either and I have now been pain-free for months. I highly recommend him for any related procedures and will be going to him and his team as long as I am a resident of NYC!

At the…read morefirst visit, I appreciated how direct, calm, and responsive he was to all of my many questions; I also chose him because I wanted to see a solo practitioner who would be present at my delivery. I echo all of the many wonderful things written about Dr. Yu and his office staff in other google/yelp reviews. A few other things I found exceptional and am particularly grateful for include: - He is extremely focused on the health of mom (in addition to the health of baby). Throughout instances for me both during pregnancy and postpartum, he offered very direct advice and recommendations of procedures he thought I should do, including calling me to make sure I went to the ER when there was something I didn't know was serious. At other times, he was very clear in explaining the pros and cons of decisions so that I could exercise my discretion, and respectful of my choices. - During labor and delivery, he was present from relatively early on and checked in multiple times, including ensuring that I knew when the hospital shift change was occurring so I could make a more informed decision on when to get my epidural. When I was researching doulas, I spoke with some who had been at deliveries by Dr. Yu and who said that he was more present than most OBs and was willing to listen to women's preferences during delivery. I found this to be true, and also found that Dr. Yu advocated for decisions that he thought would lead to a shorter delivery with less pain when I was on the fence about taking certain actions. I also found his instructions on how to push very clear (it's hard if you have an epidural and cannot feel anything)! - Healing from the different surgical procedures he has performed (during pregnancy, tears after delivery, circumcision for baby) has always been extremely smooth. - He does his own ultrasounds and does them at every visit, so you don't need to go into the hospital to get an ultrasound. I found it very reassuring to check baby's heartrate at every visit. - His office is very clear and flexible about billing, including a) accepting checks from insurance (who sent them only to me and not to the office directly) and b) explaining how he was an out of network provider but would not balance bill patients (and how that intersects with the No Surprises Act). - He is so responsive -- in particular via his messaging system; very rarely did I wait longer than 4 hours for a response (including on weekends, and messages sent at 9 pm). Lab results were provided almost immediately via the messaging system. He also gives you plenty of notice if he is going on vacation (which only happened once in my almost 2 years of seeing him). - He has wonderful contacts for referrals, such as for specialty procedures required to be performed by maternal fetal medicine specialists, breast surgeons, surgeons for fibroids, and more. He is always professional and even has a sense of humor. I would highly recommend him to all of my friends (and already have).
