I also made airplane reservations and a hotel reservation for the night before the tour. In April, I was informed that Austin Adventures was cancelling the trip and refund my payment for the trip. However, Austin Adventures refused to refund my travel insurance premium. In addition, I lost money on the airplane tickets. My total losses were over$1000. I spoke to Austin Adventures. I explained I understood that trips are cancelled from time to time. But, that should be financially neutral to me. I lost over $1000 trying to book a trip with them and following their recommendations. I asked if they were OK with that. They told me they have been in business for over 40 years and were highly rated. In conclusion, be very careful dealing with this company. They may cancel your trip and you could lose money you have invested in it. I have since seen other reviews that have reported similar problems. Beware!

We had never been to Yellowstone, and I thought I would be able to call a few weeks ahead to book hotel rooms and a rental car, I was terribly mistaken in my naïveté. Luckily, we stumbled across Austin Adventures in a travel magazine and gave them a call to see if we could book one of their family tours. They had one opening left on the first tour of the season and we jumped on it. I will wholeheartedly say that this was one of the best family vacations we have ever experienced. The tour guides were unbelievably knowledgeable about the park, environment, wildlife, etc. They provided an amazing experience throughout the park, at the attractions, on the hiking trail, in the hotels; everything was taken care of. Immediately after our vacation, we booked a tour for my wife's parents and our children. Again, they delivered an amazing customer experience. After that trip, we booked a private tour for our employees. This was the last tour of the season, which could have meant AA might have been experiencing some fatigue from a long season. But, it was anything but that, we had a wonderful tour. Our employees still speak about it to this day. We had another tour this season, everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves. AA has only improved on their impeccable customer service.

The park is free & on a donation basis for upkeep. The rules are simple common courtesy & they allow for up to 10 days of camping in marked campsites. No reservations taken/needed. First come-first serve. There are port-a-johns & dumpsters available. There are a good amount of sites, most are good for small trailers & van campers with a handful of pull throughs. No other amenities are provided. Some mention water, but I haven't explored enough to find it (or trust it for drinking for that matter). You're right along the Riverside with nature abound everywhere. The only downside really was the traffic & crazy local teenagers zooming through the gravel road on the weekend. Otherwise, this is a solid spot for those looking for a free site near civilization.

About 10 minutes from where we got out of the boat it started to rain, but what happened before that was magical! The air was still and then alternating gusts of super hot and super cool air started blowing at us! Little tufts of cottonwood pollen were suspended in the air and the birds started to go wild! Probably at least 10 different types of birds started swooping over our boat looking for cover! It really was a magical experience!!

We got a taste of what real farm life is like. The workers were incredible to the visitors and incredibly hard working. We rode horses for 3 days and saw some beautiful animals on our ride in the mountains and some amazing views. The cooking was incredible and our whole family enjoyed every second of the vacation. There was an activity for every kind of person. We also got to feed the animals in the morning and meet other animals from the ranch. The living conditions were great as well, every room was clean and spacious. This vacation was incredible in so many ways. We highly recommend this ranch to every family. I have the opinion there are basically four types of guides.....Good ones, mediocre ones, bad ones, and great ones. Chris is one of the great ones. From the minute I met Chris, I knew it was going to be a fun day fishing. Chis has a great sense of humor, a true love of the outdoors, a constant smile, is incredibly positive, an amazing fly fishing instructor, and a great fisherman. There was never a dull moment during our 8 hrs. on the water. My fishing partner and I were shown one of those "days to remember." If you're pondering a guided trip to one of Montana's incredible rivers that Chris guides on, you won't find a better guy to fish with. We have already booked several dates with Chris for the Spring. Can't wait to get back on the water with him!
