My husband went to the Emergency Room at Methodist. When he shared his symptoms, he was immediately taken to get a CT scan and admitted to the ICU. Two days later after he was stabilized, he was operated on for a subdural hematoma. A week later he was released to a temporary care facility. We could not have asked for better or more swift care. read more

Well I came into the ER with chest pains, I sat in the waiting room for 4 hours then was put into a hallway bed with zero privacy, where the Dr basically gaslighted me and disregarded everything I said. I have a history of stroke, I was dismissed, and a Dr sent me there ! Never ever will I go to this hospital again, it smells like perfume and unbathed people I had to keep moving it was making me nauseated. My first visit to see specialist on 5th floor. Parking for public to the left as you enter the circle at 6500 Excelsior Blvd. The 6500 number is not very visible. The ramp was fairly full. Elevator access and cards to take by the elevator to remind you your car level. Long hallway to hospital main entry all indoors Staff in the outer lobby to help those who need assistance getting in. No directory to tell you suite numbers or floors for doctors You have to check in at reception main lobby. Main lobby bright and open and staff instantly ask if I needed help. Look up name and physician and sent me your next set of elevators and informing me restrooms on my floor after I asked. Clean throughout and helpful staff on floor 5 I was early and seen early by Ashley a friendly associate of my doctor who guided me to exam room. They get all your information for physician and enter it. Dr Waggoner outstanding to help me with my issue. Follow up was handled by Amelia who happily took me to scheduling. They all know their jobs and very nice. In and out about 45 minutes. Garage staff take your ticket you were auto- issued on entry. Take cash or credit. $5.00 for one hour. Incompetent, immoral treatment of patients and staff by doctors and nursing higher ups. They short-circuited my father's life because they could bother to be aware of his chart/history at other hospitals. They acted like they knew him, literally knowing nothing about him and his health care up until then. The very worst we have ever encountered. Stay far, far away. read more

I have always felt cared for here. I have been here specifically for fertility needs. It can be a difficult process but I do feel I am building a great health support system here. The doctors are knowledgeable and offer resources the best they can. I'm very happy that may husband so far has been able to come to all my appointments with me through covid. That is typically up to the doctor so check with them before your appointment but I believe you are allowed one support person. It's a beautiful clean facility. I know the women center has been newly remodeled within the last 4 years. I have chosen Health Partners Health Peak Insurance so I can have a lower rate but stay within my Park Nicollet system. read more

Horrible bordering on abusive. Sadly, I was wrongly transported to the er by Bloomington Police after having an argument with my mentally ill children. ( both are diagnosed with bi polar with psychosis delusional disorder) They told police that I was threatening to kill myself...I was not. The police found me shoveling my driveway when they arrived, and I tried to explain that my children were mentally ill, but they opted to transport me to the hospital anyway...I was shoveling my driveway! The hospital left me in a room, soaking wet, because of the snow, for many hours, treated me with indifference and neglect. I am not mentally ill, and have sympathy for those who are, and are subjected to this type of treatment. I was eventually released, but what I endured was pure hell. They demonstrated a definite prejudice because of my possibly being mentally ill. HORRIBLE! I will never forget it. I should never have been transported as I was not threatening to kill myself or anyone else...this is the criteria for a hold. I know this because I deal with pretty severely affected adult children, and have never had any legitimate help in dealing with them. This hospital seemed to be stuck in the 19th century when it comes to treatment given to the truly mentally ill. I was eventually seen after more than five hours, and was able to explain what had happened, and had a friend vouch for me and explain about my adult children. I pity any person who actually is suffering from mental illness being seen or treated at this hospital. read more

This is the 2nd time in less than 24 hours I've tried to see an ER doctor at Methodist Hospital. I walked out after over 4 hours in the waiting room last night after being checked in. I'm a 73 year old woman with multiple chronic health conditions. I presented with a slight fever, shortness of breath, fatigue, high blood pressure and heart rate, and an abnormal EKG. Employees at the front desk aren't sympathetic or friendly. I've been a patient at this hospital many, many times for many reasons over 50 years, but I've had it. I am told by my internist's nurse that they can't schedule me with a cardiologist or PA unless an ER doctor refers me, and even then, IF I could get an appointment, it would be weeks or even months (!!) in the future! So, basically, I could drop dead from a heart attack before I was allowed to be in the presence of a God of Cardiology. I'm looking for an independent cardiology office. read more

Very strange place I would NEVER go there again.....new to the area and didn't know any better but steer clear of these people. Unbelievable. My daughter started her cancer battle in October of 2023. She has had chemo, radiation and surgery., our overall experience has been beyond excellent. Excellent staff, nurses, and Doctors. Driving to her final surgery this morning we were discussing her overall excellent experience, we were not disappointed today. The surgery check in people on first floor were friendly and helpful. we then went to second floor to the surgery prep area, same excellent experience. Recovery was met with high expectations. Dr Messina her surgeon, was patient, engaging, the nurses Wendy, Julia and more I did not get their names We're all excellent. The receptionist in the surgery area, the one from Lorreto was excellent, friendly and patient with all the people she helped. I owned my own business, I am retired now, but I would hire any of them because they actually care. Thank you all for your kindness and expertise. I am impressed. Negative Stars, this hospital did not focus on what I went in for as a pregnant woman. I have a rare blood type and the hospital took my blood more times than needed. They would not let me eat and did not care about what I was telling them about my body! This is a hospital that only care about things like organs and storing blood that's needed for their own personal reasons. I did not feel safe there and when I asked to be discharged the nurse was irritable and went to snatch my IV out but thought about it and did it "correctly". I was seen by so many doctors and nurses I couldnt keep count and they did not help me with the thing I went there for, neither did they help with the thing they wanted to keep me for. I am glad i left because I am not sure what would have happened if I had stayed over night. I DO NOT RECOMMEND! DO NOT HAVE CHILDREN HERE Especially if you are African American. read more

My mom was recently here for a few days. The 8th floor is great. The nursing staff was top notch and the rooms are spacious. I did have a problem with their definition of a low carb diet. Mom could order up to five servings of carbs, each worth 15 grams or 75 carbs per meal for a total of 225 carbs a day. That's not low carb. That caused some bug discussion I. Our family. Trying to focus on low carb and that wasn't low carb. Everyone was very caring and they had lots of volunteers who would counsel, provide hand massage, aroma therapy and more. Nice place. read more

I went to Park Nicollet to have a colonoscopy with Dr Anne Nagler in gastroenterology 5/26/21. It took about 10 weeks to get an appointment and I booked it myself online. Their phone system is a nightmare and I will do whatever I can to avoid it. After waiting months for an appointment and never having had a colonoscopy before, my insurance should hv paid for it and there should hv been no charge. I am 61 years old. The doctor decided to code it diagnostic instead of preventative so my insurance wouldn't pay for it. So $1400 bill! Of course a Covid test was required as well. Another $25 copay. During my appointment the doctor and nurse could care less about me. The doctor never asked if I was experiencing any problems. The nurse talked nonstop about herself. I felt like I was on a conveyor belt and they needed to get to their next patient or lunch/coffee break. The doctor did offer if I was having any problems I should make another appointment and see any available doctor in the department. After the procedure she immediately left without another word. read more

Methodist hospital saved my dad's life in 2018. The cardiology team fired up the cath lab at 10 PM to do an angioplasty. The whole cardiology team is wonderful. All the docs and RNs were easy to talk to and showed sincere concern. read more

Regarding a surgery that happened to my dad about six years ago. This review has nothing to do with the surgery or surgeon, it has to do with how the hospital administration runs. After many years of processing what happened, I want to get it down in writing here so that it may help someone else or maybe someone in administration will see it and implement some simple procedures. My dad was in heart surgery for 11 hours. The surgeon sent the nurse to the lobby to warn us and specifically told us to 'prepare for the worst'. She came and told us this with no feeling or compassion and then swiftly left the room. My sister went into a medical emergency type shock, hit the wall and need medical attention but the nurse came and went so fast that no one was even around to help us. They had to call for help and get a paramedic. They got my sister to a stable state and then we waited some more. After about 45 minutes, another nurse came down and said they wanted to talk to us in the surgical room. We went up to the floor where they told us to go and waited and waited. People walked past us and we just had this heavy feeling that something was not right. Patients were being wheeled past us. It turns out they told us the WRONG area to go wait in and the surgeon couldn't find us. Fast forward to them coming to get us and escorting us to the waiting room, where the CHAPLAIN, who is supposed to be helping people, was on her phone talking to someone and saying 'the family doesn't know yet' when we could plainly hear her talking. The doctor swiftly got rid of her and told her very curtly to get out of the way so we could go in and talk together. We went into the room and he began telling us that they could not save him. He was gone and the surgeon looked so tired. He was worn out after 11 hours of surgery. They had to prepare the body for us to see him which took another long waiting period where we just sat in the waiting room and cried. My mom was in shock and seemed very calm. No one checked on her and no other medical staff was around. Finally we went into the room to see my dad's body and he looked really rough. They had covered him with a blanket but his hair was disheveled and he looked so awful. His hands were already starting the process of hardening and it was tough to see him like that. We spent a few minutes and again my sister who had the medical emergency was in the hall crying again and going back into shock. It was time to go and there was nothing else to do, and we see this lady in the hall as we are walking to the elevator. She approached my mom who could barely walk at this point and asked if she could have my dad's eyes for research. My mom kind of fell over at this point and held onto the wall. I know they have to do this quickly or it wouldn't be good, but after the day we had and 11 hours of waiting and then 2 more hours of finding out he was dead, this was not the time. Please note that they called AGAIN the morning after he died and asked again for his eyes. There are some simple things that could've been done -- logistics and planning is one thing that was terribly mishandled. Have a plan. Have medical people around. and for the love of God, have compassion on people that are losing someone. It may be the run of the mill for a hospital to lose a patient, but that was OUR DAD. It was just so damn tragic and a little bit of compassion would've gone a long way from the nurses and other medical staff. The Chaplain, who should've been a source of peace, was a source of insensitivity and lack of couth, on her cell phone like that at the door. The surgeon was by far the most compassionate and he sat with us for about 1/2 hour. His name was Dr. Spooner and I am grateful that he tried to save my dad. PLEASE Hospital staff and nurses and medical people -- have a plan, be compassionate, and treat people with respect. read more

Went into the Emergency at methodist at about 1:00am or so for shortness of breath, nasty cough, and withdrawal from nicotine and cannabis. I knew that many other ERS in the area had a higher chance of a longer wait time. This one is not in a metro area, so I figured less wait time. I was absolutely right, I was triaged right away, sent to the lobby after, and was called on maybe 3 mins after being sent back out to the lobby? I was a given a room immediately, a ECG was done right when I got into the room. Each and every nurse (I had a total of 3) I worked with was beyond caring, insuring I had a warm blanket, the bed the way I like it, and that I'm all good and "cozy". They then handed me the call button and said if you need anything, here's the button, encouraging me to express any needs I have. Following, I was told chest x-rays were ordered, and within 30 minutes or so the xray team came to my room and got my x-rays done. Then once back in my room, another 30 minutes or so went by, and I needed to use the restroom. I used the call button and I was able to go to the bathroom right away, and I also asked for food, which while it was a plain turkey sand-which, a milk cartoon, and apple sauce... I will take it for a 2am er visit. They brought it boxed for me right away. Doctor arrived right when I was done eating. Perfect timing! Now moving on from the "customer service" side of things, the care team did amazing. I was swabbed for multiple different flus, strep, and covid. All negative. Then, the xray was done, which revealed bronchitis. I had many questions for the doctor, and she was able to answer everyone with no signs of "ugh, to many questions" and genuinely cared. She gave me good advice, and the right prescriptions for me. Fantastic experience. In an out 1am-4am in which they did many tests, an xray, formed a diagnosis, gave me my new prescribed inhaler and set it up for me and demonstrated its use, then had me try it with them so I will know how to use it when I get home. 3 hours is pretty damn good for a 1am sunday morning ER visit. I will say, you have the best chance at getting the best treatment when you treat the medical staff how you want to be treated. Yes, it's their job... but they are busy, they are not minions, they have the toll and stress of caring for so many different patients every single day... so have empathy for them, work with them, and you'll get the best care. I'm not saying medical staff can discriminate in anyway, but as a human being being a human being, if you treat them like sh*t, you might not get as prompt service that I got today. It's almost funny the looks on nurses face when you treat them like a human being and thank them for what they're doing. They don't get it enough. Have grace. That's it! They must have an amazing leadership team who must truly support their people for every person I met, from the kitchen staff, janitorial staff, "hallway monitors ladies" to the surgeon who fixed my dad's heart this is truly a great establishment with amazing people. My mother-in-law is now into her SIXTH week as an inpatient at Methodist. She came with osteomyelitis and pneumonia at age 87. Prognosis would never be good in those circumstances. Three times, we thought she wouldn't make it through the night. Next week, she's being discharged and going to a nursing home. The doctors (hospitalists) and the nursing staff have been nothing short of amazing. They are ALWAYS available to communicate with family members and always keep us up to date. The care - and concern - my mother-in-law has received here is unrivaled. It is no wonder that this is rated as one of America's Top 100 hospitals. read more

I came the ER by force from Park Nicollet Urgent Care. I have had a cough and chest pain for about a month, went to urgent care after having gone to a minute clinic. Urgent care did a chest X-ray, blood tests, stress test, EKGs, COVID test, monitored my oxygen. I passed out from getting stuck with the blood needle, but that's normal for me, and it didn't help I'd been up since 2AM, on 3 hours of sleep. I came to, the dr was very worried about my oxygen levels from passing out, decided I needed to go to the ER for that, not my cough or chest pain, and forced me to go by ambulance instead of letting me drive my car. Got to the ER, which was a madhouse. The first nurse that checked me in was short with me. Was sent to a room, where a guy came and hooked up another EKG, and he was the rudest I worked with. Then I was sent to the waiting room. 2 hours later I'm called back for more blood test, then back to the waiting room for another 5.5 hours before I'm seen. The nurse that helped me was amazing, she's got the empathy and compassion and I can't praise her enough. Dr. Bradly Williams was my dr, and I got the feeling he didn't take me seriously, as he kept looking around instead of listening to me. Long story short, I got 9 vials of blood taken out of me, was told I'm healthy and not sick, spent 6 hours in the ER and told that it could be allergies. So he gave me a 5 day prescription for prednisone, with no refills. I am not satisfied with my treatment except for my nurse Marissa, she deserves a raise! read more

I have been having some major health issues lately and I find myself coming here often for my appointments. I do have to say that the doctors I have had encounters with have been fine. It's more so the other staff around the building that seem to be very rude. Specifically the valet near emergency and the parking ramp to get to neurology building. I think the staff need to figure out the rules specifically because it's kinda hard being in pain and then being yelled at by valet, or parking attendants for coming in the wrong entrance or if another employee tells the patient something different. There was also sadly a situation where I was at the ER for chest pain, and I was crying from the pain when I'm assuming a nurse rudly asked me "Why are you crying". Definitely some improvement to be made! read more

Most of the care at Methodist Hospital has been excellent but the gatekeepers (at the front desk and station secretary) were mean when I arrived about an hour before official visiting hours to help my nearly deaf husband order his breakfast. This unpleasant encounter undid all of the other pleasant and supportive encounters with the health care staff in this difficult time to be a healthcare worker. Sad when rules are more important than human empathy. My husband was having a rough time with recovering from surgery and did not need the added distress of me not showing up when promised and having another shouting exchange to try to communicate his needs. read more

Several weeks ago, I took my father to an appointment he had with a general physician at Park Nicollet in Golden Valley. During it, the doctor detected some possible abnormalities with my dad's heart and said, "I cannot, in good faith, let you go home tonight. You need to visit the ER right now." So we drove to Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital's ER ASAP. My experience: ***** I. PARKING & LOCATION: Using Google Maps, one shouldn't have any problems finding this Park Nicollet location. Find the ER located in the rear-right of the hospital's campus. They provide marked signs to get there, too. About parking, though, the lot is small, but no worries! Overflow parking resides in their Blue Ramp. II. CHECK-IN & WAIT: As you can imagine, the ER is OC (Outta Control). From a somewhat hysterical woman yelling at someone through her flip phone to a man, maybe, broken in half by some freak accident, the waiting room has all sorts of craziness there that could overwhelm just about anyone. (In Atlanta, the city I live in, this is called Tuesday.) It only took twenty minutes until they let us through the ER doors. Compared to other hospitals, I would say this was relatively fast. III. MEDICAL STAFF: The nurses, physician assistant, and doctors were all incredibly helpful and kind when seeing my pops. The ER doctor who saw my father -- I forget his name -- ran a slew of tests to see if he had any life-threatening concerns and listened to all of the things had to say. They didn't show an ounce of dismissiveness. About the rooms, they're well-stocked. The chairs, too, were comfortable enough (and reclined)! Thankfully, after several hours, they cleared my pops to return home. IV. OVERALL: I had a fantastic experience visiting Methodist's ER, and I would trust my father's life with the medical and administrative staff there. Nurses are hostile, total lack of empathy and dignity, lies and medical gaslighting are the common here. My heart surgery got cancelled and moved out a month with no explanation- had to reset my work leave. Was told me with tattoo's are "compensating" by a nurse. Left completely naked in front of 6 women, including a student who all stood there smirking. Was told by patient relations- oh that never happened- it must be the medications we gave you. I went to the ER twice- was never told to see a cardiologist- I was told to see an acupuncturist? You are literally risking your life going here read more

Methodist is a very nice hospital the new wings are much nicer the older wings tend to be outdated. Clean the nursing staff that I have dealt with were very good.. The café is very nice, been there forever has great company in pie I would recommend methodist, hospital if you feel comfortable with your doctor and you've read all reviews about your specific doctor, I would say the hospital itself is very capable clean and run organize and at the standard a hospital should be. read more

I called to make an appointment at the Park Nicollet Digestive and Endoscopy Center at Methodist Hospital because I have been experiencing abdominal pain for more than three weeks and have a history of bowel issues. The scheduler was very nice and was able to get me a same-day appointment. I felt very lucky to get in because I had been debating about going to the ER again... Well, then about an hour later a snotty-sounding nurse called to get "more" information because the "doctor" - actually turned out to be a PA or NP - didn't think I had a digestive issue and didn't think she could help me. Wow, this PA must be a psychic if she knew all that before even seeing/examining me! My stomach has been churning and gurgling nonstop for the last three weeks. I have pains under my ribs, in my back, along my sides, in my legs and all over my stomach. I lost a lot of weight in a very short time and was down to only 100 pounds at one point. My diarrhea was so bad, I had several accidents in bed and had to wear a Depends. I almost passed out from dehydration and went to the ER where they said I had some sort of infection but none of this is a digestive issue? OK, got it! Oh, and I love how the nurse tried to tell me I almost passed out because I was "pushing too hard" while constipated before the diarrhea occurred. She also said that aside from the past diarrhea, this "wasn't" a digestive issue. She did not have my ER records or test results or anything before making that statement. I almost passed out because I was dehydrated. Period. The nurse was meant to discourage me from going to the appointment, and it worked. Why not just tell me the PA doesn't want to see me for whatever reason? Maybe because I'm not blond, blue-eyed or because I'm not, they assume I'm on welfare or something even though they can clearly see I have insurance and pay my out-of-pocket deductible myself which can be thousands of dollars? Tsk, tsk. I am actually glad they let me know what kind of people they are because otherwise the appointment would have been a waste of time. I follow my intuition and it said do not go here - the PA has already made up her mind about you and will not help you or even try to help you. I never thought I'd say it, but now I'm sort of beginning to think some of these healthcare providers deserve the treatment they've been receiving from anti-vaxx people who they will bend over backwards to please but don't want to see someone just looking for help and answers. And even tries to tell them they don't have a digestive issue. For all that PA knows, I could have colon cancer or some other serious condition. What a horrible experience. Luckily, I am a persistent person and I will keep looking for someone who will take my issues seriously. But I'm guessing if she has done this me, she has probably done it to other patients and they may not be as persistent as me. There is this myth that female doctors are more willing to listen to other women... yeah, right! Maybe they will listen to other white women like themselves (and even that's a big maybe) but that is about it. The rest of us can go die. I'm sure that would probably make them really happy. UPDATE: Even though it didn't feel like it yesterday after that phone call with the nurse, I think I really WAS lucky. Turns out the PA has a fairly recent degree from Walden University, a for-profit online institution that has come under scrutiny several times for its programs and predatory practices. Explains so much like how I could even get in on the same day I called, only to be discouraged from coming to the appointment despite the PA's profile saying she's accepting new patients. The nurse said the PA had looked at my file, so I'm guessing she saw my picture and decided she didn't want someone who looks like me as a patient. She couldn't flat-out say that because that would be discrimination so she makes up some outrageous excuse that would make any normal person run the other way ("not a digestive issue" when there is a high likelihood it is especially since I have a long history of GI issues.) Based on other reviews I read this morning by others who don't fit the "preferred" demographic, it sounds like this is a common occurrence in general at 6500 so I don't think I'm far off. Wow, I feel like someone was looking out for me yesterday. Everything DOES happen for a reason. Bullet dodged! read more

I would UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ever return to this hospital. I had an unforgivable experience there early this year. I made a complaint about it and nothing was done. I was sent a letter of apology and given a phone call expressing "sincere apologies" for my poor treatment, but in the end there is no accountability. I asked what was being done to assure other patients don't have go through the same experience, and was told that NOTHING was being done. There have been "discussions" in the department about the situation, but that's it. Choose another hospital, you will not receive appropriate treatment at Methodist. read more

This is more like a concentration camp doing research on it's victims. I was assaulted by a nurse and when I demanded my clothes to leave was forced into bed, 4 point restrained and tased in my right leg. There was 3 male security guards and 12 male and female staff members observing this while I was standing nude demanding my clothes. This violated my privacy AND dignity as an 80 year old, 5'2" female. Two phone calls and 3 communications by USPS have resulted in silence by Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital. It's as if they waited long enough, I would die or go away. Complaints to physicians and staff have gone unanswered. There has been damage to my diaphragm, my back and the shoulder that had surgery, I can no longer walk erect. This experience has exacerbated my PNPN and unable to have a decent night of sleep. Consequently, I am spending days in bed. Now I have had to find alternative living conditions as I can no longer care completely for myself as I could in 2019. SHAME ON PARK NICOLLET FOR IGNORING THIS INCIDENT FOR OVER A YEAR. I hoped to resolve this issue before seeking legal assistance but PNMH has forced not only legal assistance but also the possibility of going public. read more

Quite possibly the worst ER experience. I was told by another Park Nicollet doctor that the emergency room at this location was my only option for care anywhere nearby. I didn't think it was necessary but was scared into going. I went over immediately, there were maybe 5 people waiting. It took over 4.5 hours to be seen and treated. It was a minor issue that they could not explain nor help with. I ended up with only a finger splint that fell off within minutes of leaving the clinic. The pain went away in a week or so. I was then promptly billed over $1000 for this 'emergency' care from multiple billing centers. Awful. read more

I am still looking for someone to help with determining the right treatment and asked for the sleep manager to call me, the receptionist directed me to Pulmonary manager because she said he returns phone calls, so even the receptionist knows the management and services are sub par. Do not use this organization if you want actual treatment or want to actually address the very purpose of the clinic. read more

I recently spent a lot of time in Methodists ER and was very impressed. They were not too busy, which is rare for my experiences with emergency rooms. Nurses were very friendly & made sure I felt comfortable. Doctor was intelligent & I felt taken care of. Would definitely go back. read more

Sonam chodon was my nursing assistant while I was in the hospital at Methodist hospital in Hopkins MN. Sonman made sure I had everything I needed and checked up on me often. The entire staff was great but Sonman really stand out from the crowd. I would give her a A+ for customer service. read more

I delivered my first baby here and it ended up being the most traumatic experience of my life. I saw the midwives hoping to have a natural water birth. I was asked to have cervical checks starting at 38 weeks and denied until week 42 when a midwife named Amy F Brandl said she needed to do one. The cervical check was very very painful. She said I needed to be induced right away even though the BPP and fetal non stress test showed no signs for concern. I went to the bathroom after wards and was bleeding. The next morning at 330 am I started having contractions. At 630 my water broke and had meconium in it. They told me to come to the hospital. I was first taken care of by a STUDENT midwife (working with Gerri L Clements) who gave me another cervical check and said I needed to be induced right away. Gerri barely made an appearance and didn't provide any interventions other than saying I should get up and move and then left the room. No holistic interventions were used the whole time I was in labor. I had asked to use the bathtub and walked around myself. The nurses and midwives kept pushing pitocin, asking if I wanted anything for pain medication, and kept checking my cervix. Eventually I caved in and started pitocin around 4pm that day and an epidural. The baby started to have late decelerations so they restarted the pitocin overnight which also caused me to gain a massive amount of water weight that was painful. I was told at 1 am that I needed to started thinking about a C-section. Shift change the next day, the midwife said she was confident I wouldn't need a c section because the baby was looking better and from MORE cervical checks. I ended up getting an infection and needing IV antibiotics. The fetal decelerations started happening again, so the midwife came in and started having me push while she used her hands to manually open my cervix around the baby's head. After 2 1/2 hours she said the babies head was swelling and she thought I needed a c section so I got scheduled that night. I was hysterical and the staff in the operating room had casual conversations around me like everything was normal. At one point I heard I was losing too much blood and felt like I was having a heart attack so I started yelling and no one answered me. I saw my blood pressure drop super low and the anesthesiologist came up and said he had a shot for the bleeding, administered the shot, and walked away. After surgery I had to stay in the hospital and they wouldn't let me discharge because the baby was losing weight quickly. They had me breastfeeding but no one properly explained how milk comes in days after birth sometimes and that the baby was not getting food from my breasts. The baby had gone days without supplementation because no one said I needed it. He started looking yellow and a nurse told me I needed to supplement because the baby wasn't getting enough food. She showed me how to feed the baby which was wrong. She gave 25 mL in about 5 secs and the baby puked it up. This continued to happen so I said I didn't want the supplementation but I didn't realize it was because she should have been pace feeding him. I had not met with a lactation consultant until after it became an issue which was the day before I left the hospital. I should have had a consultation with them right away. Their whole process was messed up and a majority of the nurses had terrible bedside manners. Those memories continue to replay in my head. I have never written a review before but hopefully this saves someone from a terrible experience. I will never step foot in Methodist hospital again. read more

The cancer center is great, but I would not choose to go here if I had a choice. Several people I know have been here and had poor treatment. Not to mention the fact that you have to pay to park every day of the year ! A quick visit will cost you $6.00 Then you have to walk a 1/4 of a mile to get to the rooms ! I hope to never be here again. read more

An emergency room visit last year which involved many unnecessary tests, and an incredibly insensitive DR, turned into me leaving without answers and a massive bill. I tried to argue the two bills...and thanks to their lack of organization, ability to educate their patients, and failure to communicate internally - I am now, one year later, being asked to pay a different invoice. My advice would be to try to make it to Southdale or Abbott. read more

Have only been here once, sent here for specialist appointment from the Park Nicollet in Minneapolis. I had asked both the Park Nicollet doctor and the Methodist hospital staff beforehand if they would confirm if my insurance covered the appointment here. Everyone acted confused and wouldn't tell me one way or the other if the insurance I carried covered the specialist appointment. I decide to go ahead with the appointment anyway, figuring just one appointment couldn't be that bad. (Welps, you can tell I don't deal often with bad health or hospitals much because this was a very novice & bad move) A month later Methodist bills me for $600!! $600 for an appointment where the specialist doctor was 30 minutes LATE for the appointment. Plus the DOC was REALLY weird. She had a cartoon-y wacky professor type personality that made me very uncomfortable the entire exam. Behaving towards me as if I'm a 6 year old instead of a grown adult woman. Overall, REALLY WEIRD experience. This is not what I'm looking for in healthcare providers. Would rather have on time appointments, professionalism, empathy, sociable, kind, and informative experiences. Though staff and doctors and nurses were polite, the weird personalities here is just not for me. Another thing, this hospital is big and it's confusing to know where to go to check in. No one is available on the first floor to help visitors with questions. read more
