A big part of it was the marketer who was not only helpful and communicative, but also enthusiastic about the building and the care staff. I visited several communities in the area to compare options. Upon my first visit to Park Regency, I was immediately impressed with the cleanliness and welcoming environment from the staff. After taking the tour, I knew it was new perfect place for my Aunt. She resides in the Wellington Court Memory Care area of the community. The Memory Care Director and her team go above and beyond to care for your loved one with love, dignity and respect. Everyone is friendly, patient, kind and compassionate in caring for my Aunt and all of the residents. The team members do an amazing job of keeping the residents busy and stimulated with a constant variety of activities. They enjoy fun social events including holiday and birthday celebrations as well as occasional outings. Wow. Amazing place and tour with director ryan z. He knows his community and residents like family. Also greets every staff member with a smile and they return the greeting. We are most impressed how clean and well maintained the rooms and common areas are. We are on a wait list but that's ok. Even if we don't get in this round hopefully on the next one. We lost him on August 12th this year. But what a fantastic last few months of his life. Never a bad day there. I wanted to do this review as I recently had to move my 85 year old mother from her home of 52 years. I had no idea where to start to find a place not only that she could afford but to receive the care she needed in a loving community. After meeting Kristen Collins I knew I had to look no further. She guided me and helped us get an apartment that is so perfect and full of light and cozy for my mom. She's absolutely a true gem. The staff there is so friendly from top to bottom there. I highly recommend Park Regency Retirement Center! My Mom who had Alzheimers lived there for almost a year until her passing this month. She had lived in her own home for over 60 years. She was, to say the least, very reluctant to live anywhere else! The Park Regency staff acknowledged that and welcomed her and made her feel comfortable. They made every effort to get to know her as a person. They knew what she liked and did not like. She would tell her family and friends, "The people are very nice, the food is good and it is clean." When my Mom's health was declining, they provided extra care for her and assisted me with obtaining hospice care. They were very supportive when my Mom passed away. Park Regency has amazing, friendly, and caring staff including the caretakers, med techs, food services, the activities staff, receptionist, cleaning and maintenance staff, and administration. An excellent place for my Mom to be (as a respite) while her house was under construction. Ryan Ziegenbusch was very helpful as director (he was excellent), as well as Amber Lopez, the wellness director. The entire staff was amazing and treated my mom as I had hoped, perfectly. The property was great- my Mom loved the dining. Bottom line, she felt at home and very comfortable, at ease & welcomed. If I could, I would rate Park Regency with 10 stars! I was looking for an assisted living home for mom and dad. Because of circumstances, they needed to move somewhere quickly. After a handful of phone calls I made to various assisted-living homes, Ryan (Marketing Director) responded right away. He met with us the next day. Mom and dad moved in 2 days later. The clincher for me is that the staff and caregivers really CARE about mom and dad. The caregivers respond right away to their needs, and are are well-trained to take care of mom's more complex needs. The staff are readily available when mom and dad (or myself) have questions. The food is well-made and delicious! And mom and dad enjoy the activities and outings. Again, the staff care about making life enjoyable. To add to my previous review, Park Regency Retirement is an Assisted Living Facility, not a medical facility. It's not perfect, but the administration is responsive to the feedback of its residents and their family members. Overall I believe the facility and care is a fairly good value given the market in the area Park Regency Retirement's is one of the parent company's 24+ facilities and programs. The majority of SunMar Health Care Inc.'s facilities are nursing homes . You should come set up an appointment with Ryan and ask lots of questions which are pertinent to your loved one's needs. read more

It's been a rough week for our family having to look for a place to have a loved one live that can't live alone. We walked into Park Regency after visiting another facility that was a big let down. Right off the bat Park Regency had the other place beat even though the facility fees were pretty comparable. It was clean, well maintained and felt like the people that worked there had genuine concern for their clients. We were getting discouraged and depressed until we had a consultation with Ryan Ziegenbusch. He gave us a tour and explained exactly how everything worked with a straight forward attitude, no bs. He explained the ins and outs of the assisted care communities, was very articulate and caring and helped us to understand what our loved one needs as far as her care was concerned. Although Park Regency wasn't a fit for her at this particular time we walked away with our hopes higher and our fears alleviated somewhat. I recommend highly taking a tour and giving this place a chance. We have hopes that in the future our loved one can move up to a nice facility like Park Regency Retirement Center. read more

I visited several facilities and asked a lot of questions, before choosing Park Regency Retirement Center for my mother. Everyone on staff was very friendly and the residents also seemed very happy. On my tour, two of the residents started conversations with me, just to tell me that they love living there. As for the staff, they are great. Amber, the Head Nurse, drove 25 miles to my mom's house, to meet her and assess her condition. My mother-in-law was living in an independent assisted living facility in another city when she suffered a heart attack and fall on New Year's Eve, 2018. This caused a drastic downward spiral of her Alzheimer's. It was quickly apparent that she would need Memory Care, so during her hospitalization and convalescent care we had to find a facility close to Whittier so that she could be near our home. After visiting several facilities we finally came to Park Regency (PR). Ryan Ziegenbusch, Director of Marketing, was my first point of contact. I was sold on PR almost immediately due to his compassion, understanding and honesty. After evaluating all the facilities that we researched, the family unanimously chose PR for Mom's care. By the way, they are also one of the most reasonably priced Memory Care facilities in southern CA. Then I met Amber Lopez, Wellness Director, who came to the convalescent hospital to evaluate Mom prior to her acceptance at PR. She was (and is) AWESOME and has proven to be the best nursing point of contact that I have ever worked with. She is exceptionally caring and leads a wonderful team of caregivers. Memory Care requires a LOT of patience, compassion and kindness. Since moving Mom to PR in January, 2018, she has had some incredible caregivers. I wish that I could give kudos here to all of them because they are all amazing. I agree wholeheartedly with the others who have given excellent reviews to PR and the entire staff. Since other reviews have mentioned several key staff, I must recognize Jose, the Food Service Director. He and his team do, indeed, prepare and serve delicious and nutritious meals, including special need prep (i.e., mechanical soft) that our Mom requires. One final shout out to Michael Scully, the new Memory Care Coordinator. He is new to the staff but has already proven to be incredibly responsive to our needs and concerns. My father was discharged from a skilled nursing care facility and we had to find a place for him very fast. The reviews on yelp were excellent so we called and spoke to Ryan Ziegenbusch. Ryan answered all our questions and was very informative , patient and friendly. We set up a tour of the facility and as soon as we walked in we were amazed at how clean and beautiful the center was. Michele the receptionist, is the first person you meet and we were greeted with a big smile and friendly attitude. We met with Ryan and he gave us the grand tour. The dining area was so nice and the food and choices looked delicious! He showed us the rooms and they were so clean, great size, with a patio and just like home. Ryan scheduled to go meet my father at the skilled nursing facility, he brought the wellness director, Amber Lopez. She is such a caring and kind person. They spoke to my dad and made him feel so comfortable so when he was transferred it would make the transition easier. The day we moved my dad in we met Jorge Garcia the maintenance engineer and he was so awesome. He helped us hook up my dad's tv and anything else we needed. Again, friendly and great personality. I can't say enough about the Park Regency Retirement Center! We will definitely recommend this retirement home to all our family and friends. I have had some time to reflect and the only reason I was angry was incorrect assumptions made about my Mom. Truthfully, it was the responsibility of the PIH hospice nurse to explain my Mom's eating history and provide an order to allow my Mom to have as many as she wanted. This was NOT the fault of Park Regency and this resulted in incorrect assumptions. MY only other complaints were no names and titles on voicemail extensions so I could know who I left message for and not providing a timely refund.
