AN UPDATE TO MY PRIOR REVIEW: The State of California Department of Social Services has cited SunnyCrest Senior Living and substantiated our complaints: -Roach Infestation -Non-working access telephones -Leaving the property unsecured at night All of this is public record with more to come. SunnyCrest is dirty and unsafe which is why we and others have moved our loved ones out. Documentation is included.

I'm thrilled to report that Morningside continues to meet, and very often exceeds, our very high expectations. Here are a few tips/learnings since my 2025 update. Tip #1 - My parents have a Kaiser Medical Advantage Plan. I learned recently there are some nuances to their medical coverage at Morningside's onsite Skilled Nursing facility as well as Park Vista. We've opted to keep my parents enrolled in Kaiser because they've had the same PCPs for over 25 years. Be sure you understand the potential financial ramifications if you're a Kaiser patient. Tip #2 - Do yourself a favor and ask to work with Monica Silva in the Marketing Department. She'll guide you every step of the way. She also remains an invaluable resource long after you enter Morningside as a new resident. Now on to my 2026 update as my parents start year 3 at Morningside. Over the past year, both parents have experienced minor medical emergencies necessitating EMT visits to their home. Living in NorCal, it's very reassuring to know that a quick call to the front gate and/or simply knocking off the phone receiver in either bathroom results in an immediate visit from one of Morningside's 24/7 EMTs. Several of their EMTs are current medical students. While the food selection/quality has declined a tad bit over the years, it's still very good, and Morningside's waitstaff are beyond kind and patient. My parents enjoy the entire F&B team, and they especially adore Victor and twins Liz and Melissa because they cater to their every needs. When the guest room experienced an unexpected maintenance issue on the day we were scheduled to arrive, Olga called me that morning and arranged our stay at a nearby hotel at Morningside's expense. She also provided us with breakfast coupons for the duration of our 3-night stay since our hotel room didn't include breakfast. There was a recent situation that prompted me to reach out to Sal in Housekeeping. Since I was onsite, I asked Sal for an in-person meeting and Sal arranged for us to meet the very next day. He also invited Morningside's Executive Director (Chris Oakeson) to our meeting because it involved a sensitive staffing issue. After listing to my concerns, Sal and Chris promptly addressed the issue to my full satisfaction. I could go on and on, suffice it to say my parents are absolutely thrilled to live at Morningside. My mother who has difficulty making friends is thriving in her new community. These are my father's actual words when I asked him how he liked living there, "You know, I lay in bed some days asking myself if I deserve to be so happy and live such a carefree life in this beautiful place!" I think that says it all. :)

The Director of Health Services, the Resident Care Coordinator, along with the caregiving and med-tech teams, consistently display outstanding professionalism, and I truly value their dedicated, round-the-clock care for my parents. The significance of their work became especially clear when my mother fell in their apartment soon after their arrival at Oakmont of Fullerton. I'm thankful that her emergency alert necklace allowed for a swift response and appreciate how effectively the team coordinated with paramedics and kept me informed. CONCIERGE: Since my first visit, the concierge staff have consistently shown professionalism, offering sincere greetings. They welcome residents, families, and medical professionals, while also ensuring that residents with cognitive impairments stay safely within the facility unless accompanied by authorized personnel or relatives. CULINARY: Oakmont of Fullerton recently appointed a new executive chef who demonstrates a thorough commitment to meeting residents' dietary needs. Since the new executive chef became part of the team, both the amount and quality of food have improved. I would like to see premium cuts of meat added to the menu, along with baked potatoes as an additional side choice. There have been instances where hot meals were served cold as a result of delays, including food remaining under heat lamps, on back counters, or not being picked up promptly by waitstaff. Enhanced communication between culinary and waitstaff personnel is recommended to address this issue. WAITSTAFF: Although the waitstaff manage numerous tasks, enhancing follow-up service is advisable. Staff should periodically return to check on residents, ensuring all needs are addressed. Furthermore, tables should be promptly cleaned and reset after guests have completed their meals and left the dining area. Removing soiled tablecloths prior to seating new guests would be beneficial. Employing a dedicated staff member responsible for cleaning and resetting tables may improve overall efficiency, allowing waitstaff to concentrate on attending to residents and guests. Waitstaff can further elevate the experience by greeting residents courteously and showing genuine enthusiasm in their roles.

Dear St. Elizabeth Skilled Nursing Facility Team,…read more Having a staff that provides constant attention and genuine care is of the utmost importance to our family, especially given the challenges of rehabilitation for our 94-year-old mother, Aida. We are writing to express our deepest gratitude for the exceptional care she received at your facility in Fullerton. We would like to extend a huge thank you to Jay in Physical Therapy for his excellent attention to detail. His diligent tracking of the additional days required for her stay ensured she could safely transfer from her bed to a wheelchair with the assistance of only one CNA. When our mother arrived a month ago, she was unable to stand or walk, and her progress has been remarkable. We were also very impressed by the medical care meeting provided for our family. It was well-organized, with up-to-date lab work and clear documentation that allowed us to easily understand her medical progress. Additionally, social workers Elvie and Ana, along with Bianca, Alejandra, and Renee from administration, were outstanding resources. They kept our family consistently informed and made the discharge process seamless. Our special gratitude goes to the housekeeping team (Gloria and Julio), the CNAs (Mayra and Alma), and the nursing staff. They kept the facility immaculately clean and welcoming, while ensuring our mother was comfortable, cared for, and able to participate in daily activities. Finally, we want to thank the dining staff for providing nutritious, high-quality meals and for being so accommodating to her dietary preferences. St. Elizabeth felt like a safe, comfortable home away from home thanks to your friendly personnel.

What ultimately sold us on this community was the memory care. We decided that it would be best to choose a community that had assisted living and memory care in one building so, if the time ever came, it would be a smoother transition should that level of care be needed.
