Even after COVID hit and I hadn't come in or been in contact for over 6 months, their office called me to ask if I was able to come in to finish up check-ups and get my retainers. Lastly, a huge plug for their front desk, the kindest, most understanding front desk. It is always easy and pleasurable to work with them on scheduling appointments, changes, etc. They really care about their patients.

It is about being gravely overcharged for a 15 minute office visit. This is my story, the positive and the negative: In 2022, Dr. Sheth did a renovation for me over a period of several months. It was expensive (costing about twice as much as the other estimate I had received), but I was very satisfied with the esthetics of the final result. Schweitzer and Schweitzer has their own lab technician and he is a veritable artist, so I felt that I got what I paid for. Fast forward to June of 2024: I noticed that the porcelain was coming off on the inside portion of a porcelain-fused-to-metal implant which is right next to the renovation that Dr. Sheth had completed for me two years before. I was worried that it would keep coming off around the front until I had nothing but a black tooth showing there. I also had a big event to go to in Europe that was six weeks away, so I made an appoint with Dr. Sheth to ask for help. That appointment lasted 15 minutes. Dr. Sheth held a mirror to the affected area and tugged on the bridge he had installed to make sure it wasn't loose. That was all he did. He didn't check to see how tight the space was between the that implant and the newer bridge. He didn't check my bite to see if was unbalanced. He didn't seem to wonder what had caused the porcelain to chip away or suggest any possible reasons why it was happening. He told me that a resin wouldn't stick (despite several published articles claiming that they can) and that redoing that segment of my mouth was ill advised because it could have a destabilizing effect. Lastly, he told me not to eat ice (I don't eat ice). Then, I was charged $150 for that 15-minute consultation, literally $10 per minute, and I was a returning patient to boot. The next day, I called and politely requested a partial refund for that visit but was told that I had already received a discount. That is to say that Dr. Sheth would normally charge more for doing so little. So beware future patients! You won't necessarily get what you pay for.

That all changed when I met Dr. Arthur Isakov at Dental Concepts in Glen Cove. I was very nervous and apprehensive, but I walked into a very sterile and clean environment with very high tech equipment. As soon as I met Dr. Isakov I knew I liked him. He has such a warm and funny personality. He is very friendly and approachable. I came to him in a very serious condition where I needed to have all my teeth removed and replaced with either dentures or implants. I've never been more afraid of having to do something like I was with this. But Dr. Isakov and his assistant Luz were both so gentle and caring. The two of them together were so calming and reassuring. Every few minutes he would stop and ask if I was okay. He pulled them all out so quickly! I hardly had time to realize that it was done. I became very emotional afterwards because it was a scary and overwhelming experience for me, but they both hugged me and reassured me that I was okay. Dr. Isakov made sure I understood the post op instructions . That night he actually called me to check on me. He said I can call his cell phone at any time if I had any questions or concerns. He then called me several times over the next few days to make sure I was okay. I have never had a dentist care so much and take time out of their very busy days to check on me. And it's not like he calls to check on me because he feels obligated. You can tell how genuine and sincere he is. He truly cares about his patients. I have my son going to him now and I've told all of Glen Cove about my experience. For me it was so much more than just finding an incredible dentist who is above par, but finding someone who is also a great person. And Dr. Isakov is exactly that. He is an exceptionally experienced and talented dentist, but he is also an amazingly kind and compassionate person. I know this is a long review and I hope whoever needed to hear this has read it. Not only is she amazingly quick, precise and caring (she's the only dentist to ever tell me to give her a sign if I feel pain) but she also is very good about presenting you wish all your options before you make a health care decision about your teeth. This means everything from the cost of what is about to be done and the pros and cons of waiting. She excels at giving empathy to her patients, and it is very comforting given what could be a very stressful kind of medical appointment. Dr. Mena also deserves kudos for caring about what happens to you once you leave. They actually get excited about their trip to the dentist. The practice offers various entertainment and incentives for kids including different types of toothpaste to select from. Additionally they put on cartoons above the dentist chair to keep the kids distracted enough to last through the cleaning period. Once they are done, there is a toy box whereby each kid can select a toy/reward for their trip to the dentist. Unfortunately on my recent trip a cavity was found in my son's teeth. Dr. Loren kindly explained what my options were and allowed me time to think and decide the appropriate treatment. I was also provided with flyers of information explaining the options so I can make an informed decision. The front desk staff are also friendly. They helped me with check in, scheduling the next appointment and also explaining my co-pay. Would definitely recommend this place!
