I had been researching dentists for a while now (putting it off as most of us do), but I called to make an appointment today as it was an emergency and I was in pain from the night before. Initially, they gave me an opening for 3 days away, but when I explained the situation they made room for me in only 5 hours. I was greeted kindly as I entered on my first visit and offered free water (they don't have to, but it's nice!) and was seen within 5 min (make sure you fill out the online form before the first visit for quick service). I was treated so well, from beginning to end, with an understanding of my pain and making sure I was comfortable throughout the process. They are quite high-tech, which makes it all feel so effortless and efficient, while getting such detailed scans and X-rays as well as a full cleaning. Dr. T explains what needs to be done very clearly and gives you the attention you deserve and plenty of time to think and ask questions while laying out a thoughtful plan. At the end, Jesse further explained the roadmap ahead and stopped frequently to make sure I was understanding everything while standing side-by-side, showing me on-screen how the plan breaks down and what's out-of-pocket versus what your insurance will cover. All in all, I am quite pleased with my experience and am looking forward to taking action. Thank you to the whole staff there and I'll be seeing everyone again soon. read more

Let me start this off by saying I am petrified of all procedures, pain, anything medical. I'm a 2 time cancer survivor that spent more time with doctors than I ever want to again but I would go here for another procedure in a heart beat. The administrative staff in the front are courteous, friendly, kind and take the time to explain everything to you. Did I also mention the office is light, modern and clean with views of the river. Love it! I've seen Dr Patel once for a consultation and Dr Chung twice. Dr Chung did my route canal today and I literally almost fell asleep. He was gentle, fast, precise and walked me through every step. I have NEVER had a dental experience like I did today. He made sure I was comfortable the entire time and was even courteous enough to consider I was wearing glasses and offered me another pair to put over mine to protect them whilst he worked. LOVED it. Friendly practice like you'd get at an Applebee's in Long Island, crossed with a nightclub vibe in the lobby. Problem is, starting a year ago, there's always an overcharge. They have a new billing software that estimates your copays. They text you in advance, show you the cost on a tablet, then take the copay. Problem is, every time (3 of the last 3 visits) it comes back with me owing them even more than they estimated. Their billing person says they are "continually refining their practices" but gives no explanation for why they overcharge me every single time. And they're constantly trying to cross-sell stuff - devices, cosmetic treatments, anything - on screens, signs, and in person. At times it crosses the line into being unprofessional. Just be a doctor's office, not a sales showroom. Makes me wonder if the treatments they do prescribe are really needed or just a way to make them $$. read more

I give this dental practice 1 star. They have removed my review. If you read they have done this over and over and have zero regard for the patient. Do not be fooled by neon lights and free water. I went in for a regular cleaning, they try to push a more expensive 200-500 cleaning on you. When you decline they get upset and make you feel uncomfortable. 6 months later I called again to get another cleaning and I was denied service even though they accept my insurance bc I wouldn't allow them to extort me. When I them left a negative review they decided to post their prognoses of me on social which is illegal. read more

Always felt like it was a money grab. Told me I needed an extra treatment that wouldn't be covered by insurance while I was getting a filling, and they weren't going to submit it, but it was covered by insurance. They also said I was getting specialized cleanings that were not fully covered by my insurance which none of the dentists I saw before them or since have stated that I needed. Their offices are pretty but probably because they're overcharging their patients. Edit in response to Sky Dental's response: the whole point of my review is that they tried to charge for things that were not approved in advance by me (like the "deeper" cleanings) and tried to avoid submitting to my insurance when something extra they said I needed was covered. I have been going to this dental practice for a few years. This office sends an overbearing number of emails and text message reminders leading up to your appointment. Expect to receive a text as you're walking out of the elevator if you're a minute late. YOU need to be the one on time so that YOU are the one sitting on the dental chair waiting for them to send in the x-ray tech, waiting for the hygienist to come do the cleaning, and waiting to finally be seen by the dentist. They upsell you on everything and anything possible, including fluoride and x-rays on every visit, just to squeeze every last cent from you. Everywhere you look in the office is an ad for Invisalign and to leave a 5 star review on Yelp. Today I took time off work to come in for an appointment that was scheduled online and responded to via texts but due to miscommunication on their end that even the front desk manager admitted to, they still refused to honor the appointment. Your time is clearly not as valuable as theirs. Luckily, dentists are a dime a dozen in this zip code. read more

Beware of unethical billing procedures. After paying $200 out of pocket for a "deep cleaning", and specifically asking to make sure that no other charges would be due after the visit, I received an additional charge of almost another $200 for that same deep cleaning (for which they blamed the insurance). If you want to be ripped off, this is the place. Update 8-18-24: the business owner has replied that "Dental insurance is an estimate, which is provided to all patients prior to any treatment as a courtesy". They had my insurance and were supposed to check coverage, as I had clearly told them that I did not want *any* surprise bills for *any* reason; had they told me this was just a "courtesy estimate" I would have said, "Thanks, but I don't want to do it then"...so no, they did not tell me it was a "courtesy estimate", this is an outright lie. Further, regarding "Our management team has attempted to reach out to you several times to explain the insurance process and address any additional questions/concerns."; this is also a blatant lie, as nobody has contacted me from their office; I reached out to them after I received the surprise bill, and a second time, as I forgot to cancel my next cleaning appointment which I had already booked. So, to summarize, this is a dental office which will recommend procedures which I now question their necessity ("deep cleaning" which felt like a regular cleaning), will charge you out of pocket for these, and then will charge you again and blame the insurance for it, while lying to your face about it all. I would say, do yourself a favor and find a place that won't rip you off. read more

This was my first time ever visiting Sky Dental and I was thoroughly impressed from the check in to checking out! As a new patient, it can be intimidating finding a new dentist especially in a city as big as NYC. However, I am so glad that I stumbled across Sky Dental! Hannah was very nice upon checking out (and also the staff member that checked me in whose name I completely did not catch, apologies!) Now on to the actual new patient appointment.. I always dread the new images part. I think the mouthpiece for the xray images is awkward and kind of painful, but the staff was seamless and made sure that I was as comfortable as possible. Colleen completed my cleaning and she was absolutely phenomenal! She was not only thorough with the cleaning, but she offered me a detailed step by step analysis pertaining to everything that she was completing, offered a financial breakdown of future appointments, and spoke about what my next appointment would look like. There weren't any surprises and I really appreciated being kept in the loop. Dr. Newman did the final look around and he was also very pleasant and easy to talk to as well. I was referred to Sky Dental by a coworker and I loved my first experience. I had a friendly greeting, water bottle, and my appointment time was honored. They took x-rays and a digital scan of my teeth as part of the routine cleaning (no additional cost). They were very attentive, warned me of any potential concerns down the road, and thorough. They will clean your retainers for you if you bring them in. They also send you off with a goodie bag (toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, toothbrush cover). Will be back in 6 months! read more

My experience was bad. I have been going for 2 years and it's time to change dentist. The first time I went for a cleaning. They talked me into doing a deep cleaning, that it turned out to be a slightly deeper cleaning than other dentists perform. They also performed the regular cleaning included in my insurance. That was extremely quick and felt more like a step up from using my toothbrush. After paying for the deep cleaning, I made another appointment for my second cleaning INCLUDED in my insurance. They told me I needed to pay because I did the deep cleaning already, which I paid. This year I went for my first INCLUDED cleaning, for which they billed me $75. Calling the front desk for explanation was absolutely useless, therefore I called my insurance which told me that they misinformed me when I asked them if my insurance was covering the cleaning. these days it feels like you need to read every small print and cannot trust anyone, since they are usually incompetent and give you incorrect information. Needless to say that every time I went to this clinic I was seen by a different doctor. All very young, probably just out of college. My advise is to go elsewhere. read more

Been going to Sky Dental now for about 1.5 years and coming from a guy who was no stranger to the dentist (routine visits 3x/year), I can confident say this has been the best dental office I've ever visited. The staff was friendly and accommodating whenever it came to scheduling and working around my availability. The hygienist was thorough and informative when it came to my routine cleanings. The doctor was very patient in answering any questions I had when it came to additional work I wanted done. And the office in general has been very punctual each time I visited. In addition to routine visits, I elected for other services (e.g., invisalign, in-office whitening, etc.) and they have demonstrated over and over that they really care about their patients and won't stop until you're completely satisfied. The only reason I gave them two stars is because the dental service was fine. I had to have a filling fixed, and Dr. Small did a good job. I wanted to give them a 1 star rating however for the following reasons: 1) The first time I went in there, the advertisement all over the walls was insane. Everywhere you look, they try to sell you on Invisalign. I just want to get serviced! Don't sell me constantly! 2) They spammed me constantly on my cell phone; and that was my last straw. I got 3 text messages asking to confirm an appointment -- and I couldn't opt out! I got 3 messages in 24 hours over the weekend. 3) When I finally replied UNSUBSCRIBE! (hoping it would go through, and it did), I also told them they were breaking the law by not allowing me to clearly unsubscribe. I got a nasty email telling me I was wrong and I could easily unsubscribe (not true, see screen shot attached). They sent me my dental records and said they closed my account (which I did not ask for, but is fine by me). 4) They said I asked for appointment reminders in April (I may of, that's fine, but don't bombard me with texts and then not let me easily reply!). The only option they market in their texts is to hit "C" to confirm. They explicitly don't give you any other option via text because, well, they probably don't want you to cancel, even if you can't make the appointment! Also, when you text message people at 8:50pm on Saturday night, don't expect them to call you at that time to cancel a dental appointment. That is unreasonable. 5) And no, you are NOT compliant according to the FTC. You must provide messaging in your texts that say: STOP or OPT OUT, which you do not do (see screen shot below of the text I got) (https://www.fdic.gov/regulations/compliance/manual/8/viii-5.1.pdf) I'm really disappointed in how I was treated, when all they had to do was spend 15 seconds googling to make sure they were compliant (like I did), and then apologize/fix the issue (another 30 seconds in whatever app they use to send text messages). Instead, I got a snappy reply with my dental records, effectively forcing me to take my business elsewhere. read more

Don't go here for invisalign. At my initial consultation I was verbally told everything was included in the price. Then later was told that the retainers were extra $$. Dr Rhieu shaved my teeth to make room for my teeth to shift then wanted to charge me a extra $1000.00 for another round of invisalign to correct the huge gap she made. After emailing back and forth with her she refused to fix her mistake and put the blame on me. I was also told I missed a appointment that I NEVER made and they are charging me a $100 for the missed appointment. Dr Rhieu comes off as nice yet is passive aggressive.
