Where to begin. I don't and don't like to rate this low unless absolutely warranted. I normally give the place the benefit of the doubt because everyone has bad days and good days. But this place...this owner, wow. If you're going to get anything out of this review from my experience, TLDR; owner has some serious attitude issues towards picture taking and having civil conversations with his (potential) customers. First off, I'm writing as a human being visiting Eureka Springs. I just have the standard of being treated with humanly respect. Those that have high reviews defending the owner's actions are a little questionable. They say to "leave your ego and entitlement at the door" or "the owner stands up for his own". Concerning as that is what they see as okay for someone who owns a shop in the hospitality business. I will say some pros - the Disney/Mickey decorations posted outside his windows are cute and lure you in, but be careful with this. And his pretzels seem really good...wish I got to try them. I came in with doughy eyes enamored with his Disney decor and wanted to take photos of it, especially because it's what I normally do when writing Yelp reviews. It's almost a muscle-memory at this point. As soon as I took the first photo, I was startled by the man at the register pointing at me yelling, "GET OUT! ENJOY YOUR PICTURE! IT SAYS NO PICTURES!". Of course, I'm taken aback like a deer in headlights, but without a word and still shook, I walked out. I had to take a few minutes to process what the heck just happened. As my family walked out, I learned that I was kicked out for taking a photo when he had signs that say no photos. Okay, I did miss that but again, I'm a tourist looking at everything and was distracted by the Disney signs. I wasn't reading every single word on his door prior to entering. What really got me was that I went about my day, but as I passed by his shop again before heading back home, I decided to try and talk to him, just to apologize and learn as to why what happened, happened. I'm just curious as to why. As I walk in, he immediately recognized me and sassily asks me "WHAT? WHAT DO YOU WANT? You got your picture!" Without raising my voice and not blurting a single profane word, I told him I wanted a civil discussion. He goes straight to claim that I felt entitled to come in into his home, take photos as I please, and tell him how to run his business. Not the case. I tried to explain my side of the story and apologized again, but to no prevail. I told him I loved his Disney decor and he responds with "Then if you love it so much, go to f*cking Disneyland!" He proceeded to tell me he records everything and puts them on YouTube (which, I'd love to find), that every other business has "No Photos" signs on their door, yadda yadda. There was no point in trying to get my customer point of view across to this man. I told him to have a day and walked out. Another party of people saw me walk out red in the face and asked if I just got yelled at. Apparently, they ordered a pretzel from him but once he saw one of them take a photo, he threw their pretzel in the trash and kicked them out. A bitter man running a hospitality business in the middle of a tourist area. It's not ideal and really shouldn't be acceptable unless that's his shtick and people know it. Again, I'm sure his pretzels were great, but not worth going through that. (I was going to post the one photo that started all this, but out of respect for HIM, I won't. TBH, my initial thought was that he didn't want photos because he didn't want Disney sending him a C&D for all his stuff.) read more

Arrived at the location at 3:20, and the sign in the window said they would be open at 3:30. We took a seat on the picnic table outside, waiting for him to open. While waiting he came to the window to tap on the glass. I thought he was telling us he was about to open. Instead he came outside and started yelling at us. I asked him if he was open (because I was going to go in and get ice cream.) He cut me off and started yelling that this was private property and we need to leave. I again tried to tell him we were waiting for him to open but before I got any father than "So your open now because..." and he shouted over me that we were trespassing. There really are a lot of places to get ice cream in Eureka Springs, so don't make the same mistake I did. Go somewhere else and give literally anyone else selling ice cream your money. read more

Before coming here I read all the comments but still wanted to try it. I went in and the guy was so nice to me. We took our time ordering our food and he patiently waited. When we ordered, he told us that it would be about 5 minutes because he had to make the pretzel. The entire time he kept telling us how long it would be until it was done. When it was done, he gave us cheese sauce in the house, which is usually 75 cents. He warned us that it would be hot and very buttery. With that, it was hands down one of the best pretzels I've ever had . If you go in with a good attitude and aren't rude, you'll get a good attitude back. read more

Stopped in on a Sunday this valentines Day weekend. I'm not a big soft pretzel guy but my girlfriend loves. First time in and didn't expect them to be hand made! The Owner was a very friendly man who informed us they were made to order. While we waited on him making the pretzel he chatted with us about the town and we made small talk. The strawberry shake was perfectly creamy and sweet - it definitely hit the spot. First, only 6 people in the store. There were five of us and girl came in and he started yelling about the six person limited so she left. We told her she made the cut, but by his reaction she clearly didn't or he's not good at counting. While I was there I observed so many people being yelled at. We arrived in Eureka on Monday. We were so looking forward to having a pretzel on Tuesday. The shop wasn't open so went back Wednesday and sat down on the picnic table waiting for it to open. There was no sign on the door saying the business was closed Monday & Tuesday. Owner comes out and said he needed to clean his area with the blower so we assume he is getting ready to open. I waited until his blower wasn't running so I could tell him, we were waiting for his pretzels. I was excited! He never even acknowledged that I said anything and I know he heard me, he just kept walking around his 2 picnic tables. We moved to a bench and waited to give him some time to get things up and running. We went back over and sat at the picnic table for him to open. He comes out the door and tells us we can't sit there, and he's not open! Just SO RUDE SOUNDING! No need to address potential customers like that. My husband and him got into quite a yelling match. So again, he has every sign posted on what NOT to sit on, but nothing saying he wasn't going to be open that day. The whole ordeal could've been avoided if there had been a sign and if he could have come out nicely and told us he wouldn't be open today. NO WAY TO RUN YOUR BUSINESS SIR! I am a business owner. Robert the owner is absolutely amazing and a wealth of hospitality and knowledge about the the area. Now the pretzels, the pretzels are seriously delicious. I got the 1/4 lb Nathan's pretzel dog and it was the best one I've ever had. Robert makes the pretzels fresh using a homemade recipe which means it will take exactly 4mins but it's worth the wait. The outside of the pretzel comes out golden brown and the perfect amount of crisp and saltiness. Peel off the pretzel and you get a steaming warm and ideal doughiness pretzel followed by a juicer Nathan's hot dog The next day we got the cinnamon sticks with Roberts homemade cream cheese dipping sauce. He had been closed for a few hours, and I had sat down on his bench to breast feed my son, who was screaming uncontrollably (which we had purchased something from his store earlier) when he immediately came out yelling at me saying I was going to be arrested for trespassing, said what I was doing was disgusting, and threatened to call the cops on me immediately if I didn't leave. My husband ordered a pretzel and the man was very rude several people walked into the tiny shop and he told them to get out, only 6 people allowed. This happened numerous times. I have never had such a rude customer service experience in my life. Me and my grandma came in to get a much-needed snack after a hot and sunny morning downtown. When we approached the building, there was no sign saying it was closed. The only reason we would've thought it would be closed is due to the water bottles near the door. Online, it said they were open, so we assumed the owner was just restocking while no one was around. We walked in, and within a minute we heard a loud banging noise on the window, yelling, "We ARE CLOSED! Can't you see the door is blocked with water?!?" when the door wasn't even blocked. The owner was very rude. I am a tourist and love Disney, so the Disney decor drew me in. When I got in I didn't see any signs and took a single picture. The only thing I said back was "sorry, I didn't see the signs". The man yelled at me and continued to barate me the whole time in line about it. I'm not one to normally leave reviews, but I do tend to check them before deciding to go somewhere. With that being said; this place and the wonderful owner deserve to be raved about! My boyfriend and I visited Eureka for a two day get away and had a lovely time. Hands down our highlight was Parkside Pretzels! The owner was so kind! The pretzels were to die for! We've been craving them ever since . We got a Nathan dog, cheddarwurst, and cinnamon sugar pretzel bites. All 3 were absolutely delicious; the bratwurst were fully cooked, juicy, and flavorful, while the pretzel -- which was hand spun upon ordering-- was perfect flakey ness and fluff. If you're a mustard person like myself I recommend trying the sweet honey mustard and the hot mustard -- both are house recipes and will blow your mind! The cinnamon sugar pretzel bites were absolutely orgasmic! That's the only way they can justly be described. With that being said -- all the negative reviews that we had read before seemed to never mention the food in a negative way and only talked poorly of the owner. After personally meeting and openly discussing the reviews and seeing the business first hand, the negative reviews are pretty unfitting. *The people that complained at getting yelled at for taking pictures or videos -- there's 12 signs posted all stating to not take photos or videos. *The people complaining about the hours-- it's a one person business. The owner is the only employee, they take an hour long lunch brake and sometimes need to use the restroom. Be more understanding y'all. *The people complaining about the outdoor seating-- there's signs posted stating that the picnic table is for paying customers of the pretzel shop. But fortunately for those not paying, less than 5 feet away is a beautiful seating area with a fountain, gorgeous view, and usually a live performer! To even give this place a 1 star review hurts me because I feel like that does not do this place the justice it truly deserves. If it were up to me I would rate it a zero. Do not let the "fresh made pretzels" signs draw you in because you will more than likely walk in and see all the Mickey Mouse decor. If you are a true Mickey Mouse fan like my boyfriend and I are you immediately start looking at all the cool things and taking pictures. We were rudely met with "EXCUSE ME NO PICTURES, DID YOU NOT SEE MY SIGNS HERE HERE HERE HERE AND HERE" I immediately apologized to the man and he was not letting up. Kept pointing at all the signs and telling me how many signs there were about no picture taking. After apologizing a million times we were told he would not be serving us and to get out. I have never in my life been treated with such disrespect. I am not entirely sure what the issue is, if you have a killer collection, why not let people take pictures of it? and if it really is that big of a deal then maybe don't have the collection at all. Primary visitors are more than likely not from the area and are going to miss tiny little signs. One thing I can tell you is I will always remember this place and will make sure to tell everyone I know and care about to avoid going here. I never want anyone to feel the way that I felt. It may seem like no big deal, but being treated like that really made our vacation have a sour taste, we immediately left the downtown area and went back to our Airbnb. To the man that owns this business, please close your doors and go get the help you need. Hurt people hurt people and you sir have years of trauma that you need to start working through.
