Look I wrote a negative review as I think I have the right to do for the benefit of other folks who are considering using Parkside (or any company, good or bad). The reason for my unhappiness was that they never completed the work and threatened to put a lien on my house if I didnt settle the bill in full before the work was completed (I had politely asked if they could complete the work first before I settle up and Hope Larkin threatened via email that they would put a lien on my house regardless of work completion). Not nice or ethical. I had also felt that the bill was clearly bloated with things like a 20% surcharge! Like I said, I have a right to my opinion -- or so I thought. Ok so guess what came next! I got an email and certified letter from Joe Ruzevich (their principal) threatening me with legal action if I didnt remove my google review within 5 days. I have attached the letter so Joe cannot accuse me of making false statements as he did in the letter -- Parkside and Joe should actually make some effort to engage with customers and not just base your business model on aggressive legal threats. I initially posted a one-star review in early September 2024 after months of back-and-forth discussions with Parkside regarding their mitigation work. I deleted the review when it appeared that Parkside Restoration was ready to stand by the quality of their work and their word. Unfortunately, instead of following through, the owner (Joe) reached out to the insurance assessor, seemingly looking for reasons to avoid honoring that commitment. What's ironic is that the same insurance assessor spoke poorly about Parkside in a separate conversation with me. But I guess when money is involved, people tend to stick together. During the water damage mitigation, the team damaged the bottom of a second mirror panel--an areas that should never have been touched. Now, both Parkside and the assessor are claiming that the mirror had to be removed for the mitigation. Yet, in photos sent to Parkside, it clearly shows the mirror still on our wall, with a foot of untouched drywall separating it from the area they actually had to cut. The water damage was clearly a foot away, making their claim simply false. To make matters worse, I was treated with condescension and rudeness by their construction assessor. When I called to file a complaint, the manager didn't even need me to say his name--she immediately knew who I was referring to based on my description alone, which speaks volumes about recurring issues. If I could give a negative score to Parkside Restoration, I would. While the work requested was done, the harassment for payment was awful. I was working with my insurance company to ensure coverage. As we all know, this process can take time. Parkside does not care! After being only 30 days past due, I started getting daily emails asking for payment like they were getting ready shut their doors over a mere $3,300. If I had to do this again, I would HAVE NEVER EVER dialed their number! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! Just wondering if it was because I live in Gary, or do they harass people across the board. read more

Look this is a predatory company. Similar to predatory loan companies, this one feeds off folks that have had the misfortune of damage to their home, flooding, etc. They survive by milking insurance companies and customers -- Period. These are not the "friendly ethical honest family owned" company. Ok I will tell you what will happen when they show up for a water mitigation and repair job. They will make you sign a work authorization with no dollar numbers or line items -- just a blanket agreement that you will be responsible to pay them whatever they feel they would like to get paid for (and whatever dollar amount that they decide on). Once you sign (which most folks in the middle of a home damage crisis will do ofcourse), they are now the masters and you are their blank check. After I paid them over $21K they decided to bill me for another $4.5K -- with the threat that if I do not pay, they will put a lien on my home! Yes, the document you signed gives them power of attorney and the ability to put a lien on your home if they like (regardless of whether you contest the charge or not). I ended up paying more under this threat just to get rid of these parasites. They did not even bother to finish my repair job -- keep that in mind too. They have an army of lawyers that is just waiting to pounce on you if you dont pay them when they want to be paid. I asked that they wait until I was back from my work travels to have my work completed and make their final payment then -- they refused, stating that its now or here comes a lien on my home! The way I look at it is that companies like this are a "necessary evil" given the crisis one is in with major home damage. So Im not sure what to say -- sure use them but keep in mind that once you sign the work authorization docusign documents, you have in effect given them blanket authorization to bill you whatever they want whenever they want. The project manager, Dave, did not come visit the site even once (after he had done the initial estimate) to see if the work was done right. So you get the picture I hope -- the mission of this company is money making, however they can do it -- my bill was padded by at least $5k. I have never had this sort of home damage situation like most folks -- so I was exactly the target they go after -- particularly since I had good homeowners insurance. I would simply summarize by saying hunt around for a more ethical company if you have the leeway -- I understand if you dont since you are in crisis mode but be aware that once you sign their paperwork, you have relinquished any rights and they can legally take you to the cleaners -- I feel like I have done my part now in warning you. read more

We were not happy with this company. They did not do what they said they were going to do. The head salesman came to our house each time in the morning smelling like booze. We did not appreciate smelling booze in the morning. For what they did the price was outrages. When they left there was a mess. They said they disinfected we never saw that that was done. They came with a little hand held spray bottle, we could of done that our selves. They tore insulation out of the walls and left it on our floor. I brought the damage items out myself and left it by the pool for them to carry out. Also they are not noticed with the BBB. So find another company do not go with the one your insurance man recommends. Ask friends and neighbors who they recommend. read more

I wrote a list of items that were not completed properly after Parkside Restoration came into my home for repairs following a leaking roof. An attic fan that was to be "repair or replaced" was not completed at all per written quote from company. 8 drywall nail pops in ceilings of 4 different rooms have returned after repairs were supposedly, but not properly made. A 4 x 5 foot piece of replaced ceiling drywall has sagged in bedroom ceiling again. Jack Gallo, Sales Executive, told me they "would be glad to come out and make the necessary repairs." I asked why the repairs had not been made correctly in first place. After 4 months have passed, I have stilll not heard back from Jack Gallo or anyone else, after paying the company $4492 for initial repairs. read more

Parkside , quickly responded , very professional and did exactly what they quoted. Even though we did most of the cleanup, they did remove floor, drywall & toilet, and vanity , doors with trim ,set up driers to prevent mold . They gave us a fair price on the construction part and also happy with the final product and time frame. One of the doors was supposed to vented because of furnace but we can live with it . The Bad part which I'll blame myself, I explained to to Jack upfront that we only had 10k coverage & I also questioned the crew As they seem to removed quite a bit more than needed to be, which I wouldn't have cared if in's. Co. was paying they also took all the doors and trim which I would have cleaned and reused . When they sent the bill 3 weeks later which my wife paid Not known I ask Jack to review the bill & positively discount because it seemed to be full retail as if the insurance co was paying. Great service--they came the same day I called them to set up their machines to dry out my basement after my sump pump stopped working.

I had a terrible situation. A control in a shower upstairs broke and leaked water downstairs into the ceiling of a reading room right under the master bathroom. It was, in reality, raining in the room! Of course , it was a Saturday nite. Our plumber was very responsive and then called Parkside to finish the job. They came Saturday nite from 7-10 pm! after the plumber finished. Parkside cleared out the water, pulled up the carpet, found some mold and sprayed for that, emptied the closet, and set up machines to dry us out and regulate the humidity in the room; they remained for about 6 days. Workmen marvelous. Back they came to repair the ceiling, take down a wall and drywall and paint, and put in all new baseboards. We had insurance but had too big a deductible to use any insurance. Bummer. Bob Wehrly, the project manager, was responsive and always available.The main workman Nixon worked a very long day two days in a row. He was a delight and very client-oriented and went above and beyond expectation to please me in the clean up phase. Wonderful company, wonderful people, and I'd use them again! I made a big mistake! I was so freaked out with the rain in the room that I ran to collect buckets and beach towels when I should have turned the water to the house off immediately! Brain not working in stress situation! Initially, they were super fast and responsive and had a worker at my place the same day for initial examination..Also called quickly with initial QUOTE with one price if it was an insurance claim and a much lower price if out of pocket. Daryl even offered time to pay off work since we had to choose out of pocket payment. Workers showed up and did remediation and all was fine. This company came out and quoted him half what the actual bill came out to as well as promising his insurance would cover half.
