Negative stars if possible. Ambulance brought my grandma, who has dementia in for allergic reactions to antibiotic. When I arrived, they immediately moved to release her. They did not even talk to me about her condition. I said she's not going anywhere, she was writhing in pain and so itchy and bright red hives covering her body. My 86 year old grandma was crying in pain, and they wanted her to leave now. Nurse asked me about Norco that was in her chart I said we don't have any she doesn't like taking them. They did not come right out and say it, but their body language and the emphasis on certain words told me they thought I was stealing my grandmas medication. At that point I started to cry because I had been awake and caring for my poor grandma without food or rest for 16 hours at that point. No phone service in er. I asked for a landline to call my aunt, they said no, there is service in waiting room. So I had to leave my grandma alone to call my aunt to come. I was crying uncontrollably and there were no tissues anywhere. No one offered me a single kind word or gesture. My aunt arrived about 20 minutes later, after they repeatedly tried to make my crying grandma get in a wheelchair to wait in the lobby for a ride home. I removed myself from the situation when my aunt arrived and only then did the kind receptionist bring me a box of tissues and consoled me for a little bit. She was so sweet. Thank you to her. Everyone else there was terrible, cold, and uncaring, especially the person who repeatedly tried to get my grandma to leave. I have talked to patient advocate, who I felt understood my situation. read more

My wife broke her arm, and we are the only people in the waiting room, and there is no one that can see us?? When we get a "room," I move a chair over for my wife to put her feet up. The nurse comes in and moves the chair for examination and then proceeds to tell my wife the chairs don't recline??? SO I reclined the chair I was sitting in (the same chair) and then helped my wife recline hers. The supposed "Dr." we were waiting for was in a "procedure"?? Was it open heart?? Facial Reconstruction? No one will ever know! I may never know!! As I am STILL sitting in a "ROOM" waiting for a "Dr." to finish a "procedure" so we can go home. **LOL...my wife just bitched about the "procedure"** It is literally taking forever!! IT'S BROKE! GIVE HER SOME MEDS! SETUP A TIME TO CAST!! But instead, we have to sit here for over 1.5 hours without seeing the "Dr."!! I'll keep this post updated. This wait to see a Doctor here is RIDICULOUS! My wife has been in here since Thursday and they keep her in thru Friday and I had anxiety attack in my wife's room but wouldn't give me no medicine for it. They just wanted to take me to the er so they could charge me for another visit even though I'm already here. So stupid and all about the money. I had my left shoulder surgery December 6th, 2022. I started Occupational Therapy the following day after surgery, December 7th, 2022. I see Jessica E and Hali G. Every other OT visit it seems. Occupational Therapy is very hard, I'm NOT going to sugar coat it at all. It hurts so bad. With the help of these two PT's towards the end of March, my 4th month of Occupational Therapy the goal is to have my arm where it should be, I'm getting closer. With the knowledge of these two PT's I can take what I learned and once graduated from Occupational Therapy, I can continue the PT at home & make my arm that much stronger. I highly recommend Parkview DeKalb Physical Therapy over any other. read more

Dr. Philip Chase is my doctor, whom i love and am very satisfied with the treatment he has prescribed for me for some time now. When I called his office to ask for a refill, I spoke with Cindy. As I was telling her my name and birthdate, she was constantly interrupting me, saying my name over and over as she talked over me. When I asked her not to do that, she laughed. Dr. Chase deserves better from his staff as do his patients. No thanks. read more

I've personally had nothing but excellent care here but now that "Not for profit" Parkview has acquired them that will change for sure. They will gut this place just like they did at the Kendallville location. They have a monopoly and should be investigated. Go elsewhere if you can. read more

RUDEST people i have ever met in my life. my friend went there for neck pain and left side numbness and weakness clearly stroke symptoms. they gave her morphine and discharged her. when we attempted to ask the nurse what happen she said to ask the patient she can tell us. the receptionist with crazy purple hair was rude and the nurse that came out to talk to us had a bad attitude. read more

Do not go to this hospital the doctors are a joke. My brother was admitted to the E.R., after being hit by a truck and they didn't do one X-ray, MRI or anything to check for broken bones. They gave him a few stitches and two staples in his head without numbing either area. They then gave him a pain pill prescription that made his muscles tighten and increase the pain in his body. The experience was terrible. We had To wait 8 days to get him an MRI because of the staples in his head. He has major damage in his back. Please rethink a trip to this hospital. read more

Disgusting. My grandma came in with non stop puking of yellow and green.. we left and came back to her in the exact same outfit with puke all over it, piss when we walked in was on her toilet. I am not one to comment on someone's weight what's so ever but my grandma had NO WATER, nothing in her room and we hit the call light and a nurse older who couldn't have been any less thank 300 lbs came in and acted like we were an inconvenience to her!! I had to specifically ask them if they could swab my grandmas mouth that was extremely dry due to her having a seizure! Which nobody acted like was anything of a big deal! Piss was on and all around her toilet when we first arrive, so we obviously no the room was NOT CLEAN. They gave us no information on why my grandma couldn't keep anything down or why she randomly went into a seizure instead sent her to an absolutely disgusting nursing home where they went on COVID lockdown the second we put her in without any choice and she died days later! I wouldn't bring my sick dog to this hell hole. read more

Health care is decent but make sure you ask for copies of everything. Also make sure you ask if lab is work is covered and is in network. Have had surprise bills. read more

I got up an hour early, after fasting...the lab is supposed to be open 24hrs. I hurry up, I am there by 5:10am. The lab calls down and says they can't see me until almost 6am. Hey! No one ever wants to go to the Emergency Room or need fast acting medical assistance but I'm glad when my Aunt had to have an emergency surgery Dekalb Health was close by! The staff treated her and us with a great deal of attention and made us feel at home in every avenue of the hospital! The cafe and gift shop were also great, and they even had a piano in the entry way you could play! I tickled the keys a bit! Very nice, clean, and I don't want to go back but If I had too I would be excited about this place. read more

Not sure where to start...but please drive a little further and go to Parkview or DuPont..I have worked in healthcare for over 20 years and never have I witnessed so many nurses and Dr's who truly do not know their job. I cannot believe they passed their board. Took my mother in for abdominal pain and they sent her home with advice to take tums. I asked for a different Dr. And again, same reaction, It's like they really don't want to be bothered to look into anything. I immediately drove her to Parkview and within hours they were taking out her appendix! If I would have believed these so called doctors at DeKalb, my mom would have been home suffering. My husband and I had lab work, x-rays and physical therapy in the last couple months, and everything went smoothly. Wait times were not bad. I love having great health care right in our community. Convenient parking is a huge bonus! read more

I'm personally terrified of needles and such but I was told specifically to go here because it is supposedly a great experience. And it definitely was! I was so so anxious to get blood work done but the atmosphere was warm and welcoming and all the staff was nice. When getting the blood work done they did it faster than I imagined they would and a second nurse brought me a cup of water without asking so I wouldn't pass out. I will definitely be going back again if need be. read more
