My dad got an infection, went to the hospital and declined rapidly. He ended up at Parkview and was only there for a few days before he passed. Every single aspect of Parkview Home was perfect. The house is clean, quiet, comfortable, peaceful. The nurses are excellent- every single one of them. They are kind, gentle, caring. They made his sudden and unexpected passing much less painful for our family because we knew he was in such good hands. We have discussed on several occasions how perfect it was to have him go there. We will never forget what they did for our dad. I truly hope there is a bed open if your family is in need of one. You will be lucky. read more

My mom came to Parkview hospice home after 2 weeks in sharp hospital. The staff is AMAZING! From the moment we arrived they were so kind and patient they explained everything to me in detail and comforting way. My mom was there for 2 weeks, and they were so attentive, kind, compassionate. Kept her comfortable, clean/bathe, checking on her every hour, turning her. The nurses and staff were very welcoming of our family coming to visit, my brother and I, plus our significant others spent days with my mom and we never felt unwelcome, they checked on us as much as they checked on my mom. On my mom's second to last day her family came to visit her, about 20 people, some in the room with her some out in the living areas, we were as comfortable as if it was our own home. It was truly a full circle care. I'm forever going to be grateful to Parkway hospice home and Sharp for making my mom's last moments as comfortable as they can be, under the circumstances. read more

My father-in-law was admitted to Parkview Hospice home on June 8th after one week at Sharp Memorial and 5 days at Arbor Hills Nursing. It was clear he was near the end of his life and my wife and I believed he would not live even through that first night. I will highlight individuals in a moment but everyone who was involved with dad's care was absolutely amazing! It takes a special person not just to care for the terminally ill but be compassionate and kind every step of the way. Briefly, Parkview is a large home in a normal neighborhood in Del Cerro (a community across the freeway from SDSU). Their maximum patient load is 4! Even in the middle of the night there are 3 staff members (nurses and a homemaker) to look after their patients needs -- more during the day. The home is impeccably clean and you can visit your loved one 24/7. There was a fold out in dad's room and we could have spent the night if we wanted to. When they saw the stress my wife and I were facing watching her dad's decline, their care and compassion extended to us too. Dad wanted to die at home but circumstances beyond control prevented us from making that so. The care he received was much more extensive than he would have received in his own home. We made it clear we didn't want dad to suffer and they stayed on top of his pain medications and performed regular turning to prevent bed sores. On dad's first full day at Parkview, I noticed a Navy cap on the daily volunteer Gilbert. I mentioned that my father-in-law had served in the Navy and before that day was out, Gil had set up a small ceremony where he presented a US flag that had flown on the USS Midway just the day before. It was a very emotional moment. The nursing staff on dad's team (Toni, Malia, Heidi and Mitch) were not just professional, they showed a degree of compassion and kindness my wife and I could not have expected. I don't know where they find the strength to help their patients through their end of life week in and out. They are simply amazing human beings. Dr. Verma (the onsite doctor) spend a long time with my wife and I the first day getting dad's health history and helping us understand what was happening at that moment. A social worker is also part of the team and Richard visited us several times during dad's 8 days at Parkview. His social work had more to do with us and he continues to council us now that dad has passed. Soloman is the Chaplin at Parkview and he prayed with dad to help comfort his transition. Parkview is part of Sharp Memorial and has three such homes in the San Diego area. If you or a loved one ever needs hospice care, it is my humble and firm conviction you could not find better care and compassion than with Parkview and the Sharp Grossmont Hospice team. read more

Like the other post if I could give 10 stars I would. When I found out my grandmother was being admitted to a hospice center, I was worried because she wanted her last resting place to be in peace with family and at home. It was a decision that was made by the nurse that came to check her because she was refusing treatment so we needed to send her a place that was going to provide her with the constant care and attention that she required. The week that she was there she was never left alone we were with her till the end and the rooms that they have are made for them to feel at home and not at any facility or hospital which was perfect. Not once was my grandma treated bad or even us. They gave her the care and respect that she deserved. They even gave her a teddy bear that she did not let go till the end. The facility is nice and clean and it feels peaceful. Not once did we get a bad vibe form lost souls. The patio area is nice and relaxing and they provide snacks, coffee, tea, water and sodas for their guest. Each room come with a small pull out couch and chair. I think the best part is that it is in the residential area so it doesn't make you (us) feel like you're going to a hospital or a place where our love ones are going to pass. I want to thank ALL of the staff and nurses for making our visit so pleasant. read more

I want to definitely encourage you to research this place more, if these reviews aren't enough. This home was purchased by Sharp, and is in a residential area off of College Ave off the i8, Del Cerro area. It is a easily identifiable home and deeply peaceful. You walk in and it feels fresh, clean, warm and welcoming. Each member of the staff is caring and very kind, they offer the whole home to roam except the kitchen, and nurse station, their is a guest bathroom. I'm sure you already know; keep it clean. Try and park not on the street of this home. Park on Del Cerro Blvd. 10 second walk to the door. It's a good-neighbor thing, and very considerate. The home is spacious and their 4-5 rooms for guests - when it's full, theirs no more patients inbound. Room four is spacious, clean and has a sliding door out to the beautiful back patio and they welcome you to have lunch on the patio if you'd like to stay several hours. Small area for coffee, tea and mini snacks, I believe are available. My great aunt; living her last days here, has me hoping that I'll have a space like this on my final days/hours. They have a small table set up next to the dining table and they have several slips and things to aide you in your next step, from memory bears, long term care, and donations to the warm home. If I could give 10 stars I would. The 1 star review is from someone who never stayed at this hospice location and honestly should be removed or placed on another Sharp location - maybe the ER. I was more than a bit hesitant for my dad to come here when I saw there was only one 1 star review but after I read it I realized it was a rant against the system and contained nothing about an experience here. My father was taken to Sharp Hospice Parkview when we could no longer keep him comfortable at home. From the initial call to the nurse to the time he was admitted we felt the care and compassion from every person we encountered. It took 3 hours for him to be transferred from home to Parkview. Upon admission the nurse took his picture, printed it and hung it on his door. They also gave him a beautiful small stuffed bunny that he held on to for the duration of his time there. His room was very nicely decorated with wall art, pictures, and a super comfortable love seat and recliner. I stayed with him for the three days he was there. The staff checked in hourly. They made sure he was not in pain. They explained everything in plain English. There was always enough staff there - there are four private rooms. They have lots of snacks and tea and coffee always available. With a refrigerator if you want to bring your own. The home was spacious and clearly used an interior decorator :-) Lots Of books and magazines. The backyard was lush with plants and trees with two nice seating areas with umbrellas. The only improvement I would suggest is to designate one of the two employee bathrooms in the back by the rooms for family/ friends. It was a little trek at 2 am to the big bathroom out in the main living room When the time came for my dad to go, the nurses and aids were so kind! I want to give them HUGE KUDOS for the priceless work they are doing to help patients and families at end-of-life care, at a time when we really need this kind of care and compassion. We THANK YOU. The staff at Parkview Hospice was exceptional!. They were extraordinarily caring, comforting, and respectful to my family member and our family. The room was very pleasant, clean, and a home-like environment. My cousin passed away after about a week at Parkview, and I wish I would have taken him out of the hospital and brought him to Parkview sooner. He loved the ocean so the staff provided calming ocean sounds for him, and also the classical music that he loved. He was even allowed to have his best friend in the world, his beloved dog, visit him one last time. It meant the world to him (and me), and I will forever be grateful to the Sharp Hospice Parkview staff for arranging it. This place is absolutely phenomenal! My brother was transferred here on September 10 when I could no longer care for him through hospice in our home. I stayed with my brother 7/24 until he passed on September 14. I promised my brother that I would not leave him alone and I kept that promise. With the fact that I was there for 5 solid days, I can attest to the fact that this place is wonderful. The hospice nurses and other caretakers were always available to me and very caring to my brother. The home is absolutely beautiful, serene and extremely clean. I can't thank these people enough for all their help. They took care of my brother's needs and my needs so that I could focus on being with him until the end. These hospice people will have a special place in heaven for helping others through this process. read more

My dear girlfriend Gayle transitioned at ParkView Hospice Home this past May 2020. She received compassionate and exceptional care by "every" staff member at ParkView. ParkView is where "angels" reside. Gayle's every need was attended to and she was able to transition with with dignity and peace. My mother was on hospice for 5 days while she was living at Grossmont Gardens. After I pledged her Medicare benefits to Sharp and signed consent forms outlining the services provided they dial up the COVID 19 excuse for modified services to "keep people safe." She was dying anyway and had tested negative for COVID, so this doesn't work as a credible excuse for no patient or family contact. The modified services include 1 phone call a week to get an assessment from a Grossmont Gardens nurse on her condition, plus meds and DME. I never saw the hospice worker nor did my mother until she came out to assess whether or not she was actively dying. My one and only contact with hospice was to inform me that I had to hurry down from LA and that the hospice nurse would not be there to see me because she had another call to go on. It seems to me that hospice is now working as legal narcotics peddlers. I do not minimize the necessity of narcotic medication at all but I think I would have gotten more comfort from the drug dealer on the corner. Here is the final inventory of what was promised and what was delivered: Med Director -yes Nursing - No Social Services - No Home Health Aide - No Homemaker - N/A Volunteer Svcs -N/A Bereavement & Counseling Svcs - No Physical & Occupational Therapy - N/A Go with another service, this one provides no patient care. read more

My grandmother passed away in this hospice early morning on November 3rd 2014. Although the nurses were very kind and always looking after my grandmother, especially when she fell into a deep sleep shortly after she arrived, in a way, I hold a grudge on them for some of the things they did, like one male nurse(Hispanic, middle Age) put a camera right into my grandmother's face and took a picture as a ID, and I was very upset by that because my grandmother was dying from a heart failure and the last thing she would want is for someone to take her picture. Really? You need to take someone's picture of them suffering as an ID? This hospice also caused some trauma for my mom because it was in a neighborhood and it was a house! The music inside was pretty creepy too. Maybe it's personal to me but I have a grudge against this place because the picture, and also, for putting my grandmother into deep sleep less than an hour after she arrived. My friend Stan, 88 years old, agreed to go to Parkview. He died a few days later, but the care he was given was over-the-top superb. I can't commend the staff enough. Many nurses, aides, social workers. He was treated with the utmost respect. Kudos to all the employees. And the facility, only 4 beds in a ranch house, converted for the hospice, was immaculate -- like new. Very friendly to relatives & friends who wanted to visit -- or stay over in the room. The house is beautiful, inviting, sparkling clean, and comfortable for all. My mother was given the best of care, we couldn't have asked for more. This facility and the employees here are incredible and truly beyond words. They cared for my father during his final days and did everything possible to comfort him and ease his situation. They were so attentive to both him and my extensive questions, etc. A nurse was in the room with me when my father passed and she was incredible. I could never thank her enough. If I could give 10 stars I would too! I agree with the other 5 star review. Not sure what happened with the other person. I am so sorry they experienced what they went through. I can't say enough about this place! When I walked through the doors, I was in awe. It was the most beautiful home that was so clean and welcoming. The living room was extremely inviting and comfortable to be in if you needed to wait for them to do their job with the patient. They even had an area for family members to have coffee and little snacks. There was a nurse area / station as well. So they could do their job and not have to be mobile. Always a nurse there. That is the biggest relief to have for family members. The care for my Aunty was so incredible. Never once did we ( I ) see her in pain. They put the patient first! She was always clean and resting comfortably. They even had a teddy bear that they would put one of her arms over every time they moved her. Not only did they create so much peace for my Aunt, they also created a wonderful environment for our family members to be in. I can't say enough about this wonderful "home" .. It truly was a blessing for my Aunt and they truly are wonderful care givers !!! Thank you so much for the bottom of my heart. read more

My cousin was admitted to this facility 2 days before she passed. The staff was very professional, kind and attentive to my cousin as well as all the family and friends who visited. The room was comfortable and quiet. There was a beautiful backyard garden that was well cared for and the accommodations for the guests as well as my cousin were very nice. Her stay was short, but her care was managed very well. There were drinks and basic accommodations as well as entertainment (t.v. and music) available as well as their kitchen facility to keep you personal food items chilled. Those days are the most stressful, anxiety ridden days you will ever go through. The staff at Parkview made the painful hours and days of my cousin's final hours as pleasant as they could have possibly been. They were very respectful of what their client (patient) needed MOST and made sure she was treated with respect and honor, they protected her and made her as comfortable as they could possibly do, and were extremely sincere in their actions. I would totally recommend this facility to anyone I knew and to anyone who is looking for good, professional and comfortable care for your loved one who is in need of end-stage care. There was a problem with the reclining chair in her room, but this was not that much of an issue for me or my family. Compared to the 'big picture', it was a minor inconvenience. I would like to think it has since been repaired. God bless the caregivers, we need a lot more of them! read more

My Dad was sick for four months. He was in and out of the hospital and when it was suggested that hospice was our next step it was scary. John visited us on Tuesday and was extremely patient, professional and kind. That evening the medicines were delivered to the house. That night he started going down hill fast. The hospice people were available during the night for help in which drugs to give him and how much. The nurse arrived at 9am the next day and told us the end was very near. She suggested that we go to a hospice home. That brings me to Park View. It is a beautiful home! It is a real home with bedrooms, living room, kitchen, etc. The staff was very caring and nurturing not only to my Dad but to my Step Mother and myself. They told us to be the family and to leave the care giving to them. This took so much pressure off of us. They explained every step along the way in words that were very easy to understand. You are not thinking very clearly when you are that situation. My Dad passed away this morning at 4:40am. I am writing this review so soon after my loss because if you are reading this you are where we were about 48 hours ago. I Can't praise the nursing staff, social worker and aids enough. They are "angels"!!! read more
