She is strict but I feel that it is actually a very refreshing and great thing to have because we knew and felt that the property was kept up well and that we would be heard and taken of very well too. The tenants are her NUMBER ONE PRIORITY! Living here has been great. We have never really had any problems with our unit and any problems we bring to Linda are usually fixed within a 24-hour period. Communication with her is fantastic, and she is always available to listen to our concerns! She is also ALWAYS so warm and fantastic with my 2 kids even when they pester me to visit her office every time we walk past it! She is always willing to put aside time for YOU. If not for the fact that our family is simply getting just too big for the units they offer here, we would probably have continued to stay on. We will truly miss the amazing tenant care and service we have received at Parkside over the last 2 years. We are really going to miss living here. From move-in, I experienced multiple unresolved maintenance issues including roach sightings in the unit, recurring mold in the bathroom, and persistent electrical issues such as flickering lights and intermittent outages affecting kitchen outlets. These electrical issues were repeatedly reported and marked as "completed," but problems continued over time. In addition, during January 2024, the heating system in my apartment was not functioning properly during extremely cold weather. Despite submitting multiple maintenance requests and having staff come out on more than one occasion, the issue was not effectively resolved at the time. My household had to rely on multiple layers of clothing and heated blankets to tolerate the indoor temperature. I am also including photo documentation showing ice forming on an interior bedroom wall, which reflects the severity of the heating issue during that period. The oven was defective from the beginning of my tenancy (burning/uneven cooking) and remained unresolved despite multiple service requests starting in 2023. It was ultimately replaced only in mid-2025, after repeated complaints and escalation. I also dealt with ongoing noise disturbances from upstairs neighbors (constant running/jumping at all hours) and cigarette smoke entering hallways from neighboring units, which significantly impacted livability. These issues required repeated reporting and were not consistently resolved in a lasting way. A major concern involved billing and lease enforcement practices, particularly related to NSF (non-sufficient funds) payments. When a payment was returned, I was charged both an NSF fee AND a separate late rent fee, and then required to pay exclusively via cashier's check or money order for a set period. In practice, this created a situation where a single banking issue triggered multiple fees and payment restrictions, even after the rent and associated fees were fully paid. This policy was not clearly explained in advance in a transparent way and felt overly restrictive in effect, even after the original issue had been resolved. I also experienced utility billing confusion and inconsistencies, which were difficult to reconcile month to month and lacked clear explanation. Communication with management was often formal but not resolution-driven. They told us " You should just pay directly to the water company so WE don't mix it up again" or how about you figure out what the hell you're doing. They then changed companies without informing anyone, and when I tell you this new company is probably 10 times worse, I'm not even joking. The office staff has no idea what they're doing. Every time I call and ask a question they don't have the answer. We've had hornets all over our balcony and they still haven't done anything about it. Our washer and dryer have also broken twice now and they're refusing to give us new ones. The washer also leaked to the downstairs neighbors and just patched up the hole. Another thing we noticed about our "luxury" apartment is that there's a HUGE whole underneath the carpet in the hallway . Someone could very easily trip over, the blinds are so cheap, I can't even have my air on without them falling off. They literally take almost 2 weeks to " fix anything. Our dishwasher was broken and it took me calling for almost 2 weeks straight for them to finally get off their asses and fix it. Since day one of moving here our kitchen faucet has been leaking. They told my roommate " unless it becomes an emergency we won't fix it" I'm sorry isn't it your job to fix things that are broken? I had also put in a work order for the showerhead because it came undone, and it took them over a week to fix it. When they "fix" things they just cover it up with spackle and tons of paint. Which doesn't really fix anything. The also have a dog park, but the dog park is full of dog poop that people don't pick up. Also almost all the doors leading the park are broken, and your dog could easily get out. How they're raising their prices so much is beyond me. Almost everything in this place is probably 20 years old, they're super outdated and need a major facelift. If you were smart you would not move here.

I cannot thank her enough for all her help answering questions and getting stuff figured out in general. - The entire complex appears to be a super laid back, quite environment that has a foot of concrete in between each floor, so if you have someone above you, you don't need to worry about any noise they might be making, as you will likely not hear it (though I confess that I am currently on level 3, so I cannot vouch for this fact with 100% certainty, but it was something I asked Lauren about because I didn't want anyone to be bothered by me just walking around in my own place, and at my previous apartment complex, I had someone above me and I could hear every foot step they made lol). - My balcony (medium sized, and is made of concrete, and is designed in such a way so that you generally have privacy from your neighbors) currently faces the woods, so it's a perfect view with a super soft and quiet scenery that will only grow more pleasant when the leaves start to grow back over the next couple months as the spring season begins (I didn't really feel comfortable using my balcony at my last apartment complex because the balcony was made of wood instead of concrete, was semi-small, and I was on the second floor facing the parking lot, so everyone could see me as I sat outside on said balcony, and I just didn't really feel at ease using it). - If your apartment is on level 3, you will have raised ceilings. Overall, I have been having a great experience, and am so thankful for Lauren and the Willows of Wheaton's maintenance team who have both been amazing at their crafts. There are absolutely NO amenities, no parking, nothing!! You have to pay extra to park, and there is no guest parking or overnight parking. If you park on the street, you will have get a parking ticket ($35) a pop. If you complain about the parking, they'll tell you to park at the train station and walk 2 blocks in the winter or with groceries. LOL- a complete joke! If you get a garage spot, be prepared to pay $150 extra a month. Chris, the maintenance guy I gushed about previously, was gone. In one year, I saw 2-3 different property managers and several maintenance people. There is no-one on site ever, so if you have an emergency, good luck getting a hold of a live person. No-one ever answers their phone. Everything is new and looks nice, but the material is cheap and breaks easily. also, things are not installed properly and break all the time. No elevators, steep back stairs that are dangerous and absolutely no parking for residents or visitors unless you pay extra. ZERO STARS!!!!!! DO NOT RENT HERE!!!
