Valerie is awesome! She is very warm and friendly, and I tend to ramble in order to distract me. Valerie definitely knows what she's talking about and is not afraid to explain anything. She gives great beauty advice, but is also a perfectionist! My skin is sensitive tends to get In grown (even at a European wax ctr) and going to her has reduced the number and size of these annoying guys! Also my skin is smoother and the follicles are closer to the surface of my skin. Also my skin tends to lift, but I have not had any problems here! Great environment, service and esp. wallpaper. Jackie review: CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN!! My first time getting waxed with Jackie was November 2014! Just like any woman, HOLY SHIT was I scared. Jackie's room was so clean and organized it make me feel 10x better when I walked in. She also has towelettes to clean urself AGAIN right before ur wax (I always shower before I go because it's common curtesy of course). She waxed every bit of hair. Nothing was left over!!! I felt like a babys bottom sooooo STINKIN smooth. I have been going ever sense than every 4 weeks. I make sure not to be late because as a business owner myself I know time is MONEY. The total appointment time was around 15 minutes. (5 Minutes to undress, 5 minutes to wax, 5 minutes to put ur clothing back in). Great to do during ur lunch time or on your way home for example. I have been a client of Lindsay's since she started waxing with the exception of a period where I lost her and was a client of another local shop that I hated. I was SO happy once I found her again and will continue to be a client until she decides to call it quits. I cannot say enough good things about her and her shop! Parlor Wax Co is located downtown next to The Mark. Parking is limited in front of the shop however there is a free parking garage right around the corner. I try to schedule my appointments on a weekday between the morning and lunch hour rushes and can easily find a parking spot in front. The private rooms are HUGE! They are cleaned up and refreshed before each customer. You are given plenty of time to prep yourself before your treatment. There are wipes in the room in case you feel the need to freshen up before someone gets up close and personal with your lady bits. You are also provided with a disposable cover up to use before the waxing starts. Numbing gel is offered if you come in a few minutes early. The entire process from start to finish lasts about 15 minutes however it feels much faster. Lindsay is super friendly and skilled at making you feel comfortable which is extremely important during a wax. My appointments feel like I'm catching up with a friend..as much as such an appointment can. If I mention a family member or event during an appointment, the following appointment Lindsay remembers and will ask about them/it. That is TRUE customer service and shows she takes an active interest in her clients and the experience they receive. Lindsay is so fast and efficient you hardly notice a thing. I am always extremely happy with my results and can go about my day as normal without feeling sore or tender. I have also experienced a dramatic decrease in ingrowns and issues with regrowth since waxing with Lindsay. If you are looking for a wax parlor where you can have the same tech (because honestly, who wants a different person waxing such a sensitive area every time?!) who is professional, friendly, experienced and knowledgeable at a great price then this is your place! read more

Came here twice now, I've been waxed(Brazilian) both times by Jayme and she's awesome! She does the hardest parts first and gets them over with quick! I haven't gotten a single bruise or red spots from her at all. She makes great conversation which takes your focus away from what's going on and it helps so so much. The location is also convenient for us downtown working people! the Parlor Wax Co is 2 blocks from my place and makes it easy for me to get this done on lunch. Plus same day apts! The office itself is really clean and decorated elegantly. The rooms are neat and the staff are really knowledgeable in regards to their products. Okay so my waxer of 2 years would no longer be waxing so I had the arduous, challenging, & anxiety-inducing task of finding a new waxer. I will not mention where I have gone but this was place #4. My search is ended. I was seen my Jamie & she was excellent. Of course, I was nervous & hesitant due to my prior experiences. The previous waxers' I had tried were not cutting it. The first waxer left me raw, sore, & in pain for a few days (I was red & blotchy). The second didn't have the availability I needed, & the third (I assume) thought I was lying about having been waxed before because I was in so much pain. Yeah, it wasn't me. It was her technique. Anyway, Jamie was wonderful & so was the front desk gal. They very amiable & courteous. Jamie was fast, friendly, incredibly efficient (She asked if she could tweeze before just going at it), her availability is unmatched (super flexible) & her technique was what I was used to: a quick & fleeting sting. I went because of the great reviews that were posted here and I was not disappointed. I called before hand because I wasn't aware if they did appointments only or if walk-ins were welcome and the receptionist notified me they prefer you make an appointment, so I made one for the following day. I went in and everything was very neat and professional in their lobby and the receptionist was very nice she said that Jackie would be seeing me and I remembered her name from other reviews I read. She was very knowledgeable and I loved that she asked me questions and evaluated my brows before she started. I should mention I went in for a brow wax and brows are very personal and unlike other experiences I've had she actually consulted with me beforehand. I went and layed on the little bed that is in the room and at first it was awkward, but as Jackie started asking about my day and complimented my skin it all just went away. The session was done in less than 10 minutes and I waked out of that room feeling confident that my brows looked bomb. Some people might think that paying $15 for a brow wax is too much, but it really isn't considering they don't just go and do what they want it's also a consultation! I love Jackie and recommended her to 2 of my friends and they have been going in for the last 7 months to her. I actually haven't been since February, due to time and I didn't see a need to get my brows done since nothing special was happening. If I needed a touch up I would simply pluck around or fill them in. I have an appointment coming up and would recommend everyone go here, not just for Jackie, to get there brows or anything else waxed. read more

Whether you're a newbie to waxing, or you're just looking for a new salon, I HIGHLY recommend Lindsay at Parlor Wax. I've been seeing Lindsay for years (even before she opened the salon) and I will never go anywhere else. As an esthetician, Lindsay is incredibly professional and courteous. I still remember the first time I had a Brazillian done, she could tell it was my first time and she was very patient with me and did not rush my appointment whatsoever. That was especially important to me because the biggest complaint I read while searching for a waxing parlor here in Bakersfield was that a lot of estheticians would rush through an appointment, and treat you like you were just a number in their appointment book. I've never felt that way with her. She's incredibly kind and makes you feel completely at ease throughout your appointment. She's as gentle as possible and always puts the client first. There have been times where at the last minute (and I mean as soon as she walks in the room), I've changed my service from a Brazillian to a bikini because I got too nervous and she didn't make me feel bad at all. She has also generously offered to stay late to wax my brows after a bikini wax, even though I originally intended to schedule it for another day because I was the last appointment and did not want to be the reason she left work late. (She waxes my brows as well, and I've always been super happy with how they turn out) She's just super accommodating and I'm really glad that I found her because she's made these waxes not as scary as people make them out to be. I've heard really, really good things about the other ladies at Parlor Wax too, but I'm just biased to Lindsay because she's the only one that I've seen. Even though I've never been waxed by the other ladies, if they are in the front they will always chit chat with you and ask you about your day. The salon itself is super cute too and the rooms are always clean. Lindsay has always used gloves and has never "double dipped". Their schedule is flexible as well. Even with my incredibly busy work and school schedule, I'm always able to find an appointment that works for me. Jayme at the front is also super polite, professional, and really kind. The decor is beautiful, vintage and clean The girls are awesome about getting me an appointment when I need it! Now lets get down to the dirty details....The private room is HUGE, this place is awesome!! This was my first wax and I was so nervous, I was set on having the numbing stuff. But, I was running late and decided to tough it out. It was really NO BIG DEAL!! Lindsey was super nice and professional , I expressed my concerns,( being super embarrassed) and she couldn't have make my experience any better! Lindsay does my Brazilian, and she is fabulous. It's quick, sterile, and she never makes it awkward or uncomfortable. Athena waxes my brows, lips, and underarms.
